Wireless 3D localization of animals for trait and behavior analysis in indoor and outdoor areas 无线3D定位动物的特征和行为分析在室内和室外区域

This paper describes a system for three dimensional indoor and outdoor localization of animals using a sequential Monte-Carlo-Method. A Kalman based particle filter is used to improve the measurement quality by incorporating the dynamics of the target object. The positioning method was integrated into a system for animal behavior analysis which provides extensive features to identify habitual residence and movement patterns of the animals.

A compact microstrip step-impedance low-pass filter (SILPF) using complementary split ring resonators (CSRRs) 一种采用互补分环谐振器的紧凑微带阶跃阻抗低通滤波器(SILPF)

A new topology for the design of microstrip low pass filters (LPF) with a wide stopband, low insertion loss, and sharp rejection is proposed in this paper. This filter is especially relevant for Wireless Sensing, Local Positioning, and RFID. In this contribution, the concept of complementary split ring resonators (CSRRs) is utilized to improve the selectivity of a microwave low pass filter. To this end, a step-impedance low-pass filter (SILPF) with CSRR is first analyzed and then built. Properties of these configurations are discussed, and two manufactured prototypes have been successfully tested. The results show the usefulness and validity of the new structures with high rejection capabilities.

Wireless sensing applications in the mining and minerals industry 无线传感在采矿和矿物工业中的应用

This paper discusses and outlines applications of wireless sensing technology in the mining and minerals industry to provide enhanced assistance to mining machines. Three major applications can be performed by radar systems, such as surface profiling, positioning and collision avoidance. Radar sensors offer significant advantages compared to laser and ultrasonic in tough environments like rain, dust, fog and snow. The information received from the sensors can be used to increase the automation level and to advance the safety in the mine plus furthermore increase the turnover of mining companies. Underground communication systems and machine diagnostics are also discussed in this paper. Several applications were determined as highly feasible and are now completed respectively in the implementation stage. The authors are giving an insight into the experimental results, the implementation and an outlook of further use for this technology.

An overview of wireless local positioning system configurations 无线本地定位系统配置概述

Over the last years tremendous improvements of wireless positioning systems have been achieved. System accuracy has improved drastically and maturity changed from hand-soldered lab demonstrators to commercial products. In parallel applications moved from small, experimental installations to coverage of complete sites. Consequently the research focus shifts away from the positioning core technology to system aspects. Critical issues now are simultaneous handling of a large amount of mobile units like tags or vehicles with acceptable update rate, coverage of large areas requiring multiple cells and cell-handover, quick exchange of positioning data and fusion with other local information. This paper reviews the most common approaches to wireless positioning from the system perspective. Requirements on the infrastructure are pointed out, the communication effort is analyzed, energy consumption of the mobile unit is evaluated and feasibility of sensor fusion with other available information is investigated.

Handheld terminal vs. bodyworn antenna systems: A comparative study of MIMO systems performance 手持终端与穿戴式天线系统:MIMO系统性能的比较研究

In this paper a comparative study of MIMO systems performance is presented by investigating a bodyworn antenna system and a handheld terminal system, taking into account the presence of the user's body. The effects of the correlation coefficient, the radiation efficiency and the number of receiving antennas on MIMO channel capacity are addressed. Extensive study is carried out to examine how these three parameters influence the performance of the two MIMO systems under study, in order to be able to select between a handheld multiple antennas terminal and a bodyworn multiple antennas system for a MIMO system implementation.

Evaluation of passive carrier-suppression techniques for UHF RFID systems 超高频RFID系统无源载波抑制技术的评估

In this paper we investigate the signal that is returned from an interrogator antenna when communicating with a radio-frequency identification (RFID) transponder at a carrier frequency of 866 MHz. This signal contains the response of the transponder and also a part of the carrier signal that is leaking into the receive path. Depending on the type of interrogator antenna configuration used, both signal components are expected to vary widely in terms of power. We perform measurements with patch antennas that radiate linearly and circularly polarized waves in various configurations. Furthermore, passive methods that minimize the leaking carrier are explored and compared. Results are obtained for transponder positions covering the transition region between near- and farfield. It is found that separated transmitter and receiver antennas offer highest carrier-suppression and thus require the least effort for the receiver.

Full-wave-based location system method evaluation 全波定位系统方法评价

Evaluation of received signal strength (RSS)-based indoor location system is presented. The proposed method starts from the field amplitude decay law in free-space conditions, but also taking into account the near-field terms for those cases where the distance between transmitter and receiver does not meet far-field conditions. The proposed method is tested in a real indoor scenario, being the field level measured at different positions. The recorded field data are used to evaluate the method accuracy when determining the position of the RF transmitter. Practical considerations of a location system implementation using a ZigBee-based sensor network are finally discussed.

An ultra wideband positioning system enhanced by a short multipath mitigation technique 一种由短多径缓解技术增强的超宽带定位系统

In this paper an approach for high precision local positioning radar using an ultra wideband technique is presented. The concept is based on the standard FMCW (frequency modulated continuous wave) radar principle combined with short pulses to fulfill the emission limits given by the official regulatory authorities. In this way, a high accuracy in dense multipath indoor environments can be achieved, ideally suited for 1D, 2D and 3D localization. A prototype was built which operates at a center frequency of 7.5 GHz utilizing a bandwidth of 1 GHz. With the setup presented in this paper the distance between two wireless units can be measured achieving a standard deviation down to 6 mm. Additionally, we studied the effects of short multipath propagation and present simulation results for an applicable mitigation technique.

Small size base station antenna using phase difference feed for narrowband ubiquitous communication 采用相位差馈电的小型基站天线窄带泛在通信

Recently, system studies and hardware investigations on wide area ubiquitous network systems have been conducted. In this paper, we propose a compact sector antenna structure based on a co-linear array antenna that employs phase-difference feeding for a suitable base station in a wide area ubiquitous network system. In order to reduce the element interval with the goal of miniaturizing the sector antenna, we clarify the antenna feeding conditions while considering the mutual coupling between elements. Moreover, to achieve the proposed antenna structure, we employ a vertically arranged offset configuration that suppresses the influence on the radiation characteristics to 0.5λo. To verify the antenna design, we developed a prototype antenna for the VHF band. We confirm that the measured results are in good agreement with the calculated results.

An UWB receiver front-end for low data rate Wireless Personal Area Networks 用于低数据速率无线个人区域网络的UWB接收器前端

This paper describes front-end components of the monolithic integrated impulse radio (IR) Ultra-wide band (UWB) receiver. The receiver is intended for the use in Low Data Rate (LDR) Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN) which is defined by the IEEE 802.15.4a standard. In order to assure compliance with the standard, receiver RF front-end components are designed towards higher degree of integration, low cost and low power consumption operation. The receiver operates in the higher UWB band and is able to cover channels from 5 to 9 of the IEEE 802.15.4a standard, which corresponds to the frequency range from 6 to 8.25 GHz. The circuit was fabricated in 0.25 µm SiGe:C BiCMOS technology.
