. Various real-world systems, including computer and communication networks, transportation, and distribution systems, can be modeled as a stochastic/multistate flow network (MFN). Reliability indices are of great importance in evaluating the quality of service in MFNs. One such index is the two-terminal reliability (2TR), which represents the probability that the maximum flow in the network is not less than a certain demand level. Researchers have investigated the 2TR problem for MFNs, considering constraints such as budget, time, or distance limitations. Nevertheless, distance constraints have received relatively less attention in the literature, despite their significant role in optimizing the efficiency of some transmission networks. Hence, this study focuses on the 2TR problem with a distance constraint in an MFN and proposes a simple yet efficient algorithm to solve it. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm through a benchmark example.

. In this paper the influence of asynchronous parametric excitation in stability maps of the simplest electromechanical system is analyzed. The system is composed by two interacting subsystems, a mechanical and an electromagnetic, and it has the minimum number of elements necessary to be classified as an electromechanical system. The system does not have elements that can store potential energies, neither mechanical nor electromagnetic. The system dynamics is written in terms of 2 × 2 inertia matrix M and gyroscopic matrix G . Two parametric excitation terms are introduced in G . The terms have an amplitude ϵ , frequency Ω and asynchrony with respect to each other θ . For different values of θ , stability maps, in terms of ϵ and Ω, are constructed for the electromechanical system with the parametric excitation. In each map, it can be seen stability and instability regions of the trivial solution (system’s equilibrium) of the system. The objective of the paper is to analyze how the value of θ affects these stability and instability regions.

This study explores the potential of permutation entropy and statistical complexity for analyzing time series and image data of varying dimensions and noise types to extract features for computational vision. We projected one-dimensional colored noise of different sizes and one-and two-dimensional 1 /f noise with different embedding dimensions to observe changes in permutation entropy and statistical complexity. The results of this study provide insights into the usefulness of the permutation entropy and statistical complexity in the analysis of complex time series data for future parameter extraction

The corresponding joint survival function is a solution of functional equation allowing to generate new members of the class. We apply a particular member to (cid:28)t a big Canadian joint life insurance data set improving the inference and conclusions made by of another authors.
