Gully erosion is a dangerous phenomenon that threatened human existence, plants and animals communities. Families are being separated from their ancestral home and livelihood due to gully erosion. Also, available agricultural lands to combat food insecurity are contently depleted on yearly basis across the globe as a result of gullies menace. Southeastern Nigeria is highly vulnerable to gully erosions due to it geology and studies on spatial relationships between gully LST and elevation has not been carried out, particular by applying remote sensing and GIS technique to investigate it variations. Available studies where limited to mapping and causes of gully erosion in the region. The study applies LST and elevation data to investigate correlation on three gullies locations. LST was derived from Landsat data and was first converted to radiance image while the elevation data was obtained from Google Earth image. Elevation data was used to produce raster surface in that cell values equivalent to LST at every point can be extracted. Three sets of paired sample points of LST and elevation was extracted from the three gullies locations and used to compute correlation coefficient (r). The study observed at Nanka gully a strong negative correlation of -0.665. This implies an increase in LST correspond to decrease in elevation within the gully. At Ekwolobia and Aguluezechukwu gullies sites, positive correlation coefficient of 0.692 and 0.910 were obtained. The positive correlation coefficients implied that LST and elevation increase or decrease within the gullies. This might be due to unequal distribution of radiation within gully surface as a result of three canopies. For further study, it is recommended that improve elevation data source like LiDAR elevation data should be use to investigate spatial correlation between LST and elevation at gully location.

The Nueva Esperanza Market located on the Andrés Avelino Cáceres Platform is a high traffic area, as it is the largest market in Arequipa. The levels of environmental risk due to solid organic waste were studied in the areas of vegetables, fruits, tubers and around the market in these areas. The methodology consisted of three field trips for data collection, carried out through observation and recording of records of environmental impact factors, which allowed the formulation of environmental risk matrices in the natural environment and in the human environment. According to the results obtained through the use of the various tables and matrices, in the assessment of environmental impacts a value of – 15 was obtained, which indicates an impact that is severe and reversible, if corrective and improvement measures are taken immediately. keep going. In estimating the severity of the consequences of an environmental risk in the natural environment, the vegetable area has the highest risk severity with a value of 16 and a total score of 4, followed by the fruit area and the market surroundings. Regarding the severity of the consequences of an environmental risk in the human environment, the area of vegetables and fruits has a value of 18 and a total score of 5. Concluding that the risks in the identified scenarios of vegetables and fruits have a severity of high risk, followed by the tuber area and surroundings of the market.

This review paper examines the efficacy of blending various materials for the enhancement of expansive soil behavior. Expansive soils, characterized by volumetric changes in response to moisture fluctuations, present significant challenges in engineering projects. The review explores the utilization of waste additives such as quarry dust, sawdust ash, glass powder, stone powder, marble dust, Lime and Polypropylene Fiber, plastic waste strips and waste brick powder Oil Shale Ash, cement kiln dust as well as innovative solutions including organic compounds and nano-materials. The effectiveness of each material blend in mitigating issues such as swelling, shrinkage, and cracking is analyzed. The study underscores the importance of material selection and optimal blending techniques in achieving desired improvements in soil properties. Additionally, the paper highlights the need for continued research and innovation to develop sustainable solutions for managing expansive soils in construction and geotechnical engineering endeavors.

Background: Given the prevalence of sleep issues, their impact on overall health and the potential of gradual awakening in mitigating part of the negative effects, innovative solutions can be leveraged to facilitate this awakening process. Objectives: The current study aims to present in detail and validate a novel system that utilizes advanced AI algorithms for sleep tracking, sleep stage prediction, and a "smart alarm" component for optimal gradual awakening. Methods: A clinical trial was conducted to assess the system's effectiveness, namely its influence on several key daily aspects. Participants wearing consumer wearable devices in their sleep were required to self-assess their quality of life, sleep quality and perception of their own waking process through several questionnaires. Results: The integrated system is developed and works as intended. The clinical study findings demonstrate statistically significant benefits in quality of life, sleep quality, user satisfaction with the waking process and mental status upon awakening. On average, an increase in WHOQOL-BREF score from 88.44 to 94.75, a decrease in Sleep Quality Scale scores from 65.66 to 58.19 and in awakening scores from 10.81 to 8.95 (the latter two scores decrease as outcome improves) were observed. Conclusion: Our system shows promise for enhancing individual well-being and productivity by detecting the optimal sleep stage for awakening and providing a more natural waking experience, indicating a valuable direction for future sleep health technologies. Research should be directed at expanding the search for more potential uses, optimizing algorithms and improving user experience.

This paper presents a novel and in-depth mathematical approach to analyzing the inefficiencies and shortcomings of customer service in an international company based in China. By employing advanced mathematical concepts such as set theory, graph theory, probability theory, and stochastic processes, we develop a comprehensive and multi-faceted model that captures the various aspects of customer service, including unfairness, bureaucracy, failure to perform duties, irresponsibility, untruthfulness, and untrustworthiness. Our findings suggest that these issues are deeply rooted in the company's organizational structure and culture, and we propose potential solutions to address these problems. We also introduce new mathematical techniques, such as the use of hypergraphs and multi-objective optimization, to provide a more nuanced understanding of the complex dynamics at play within the customer service department.

By employing advanced mathematical concepts such as set theory, graph theory, probability theory, and stochastic processes, we develop a comprehensive and multi-faceted model that captures the various aspects of customer service, including unfairness, bureaucracy, failure to perform duties, irresponsibility, untruthfulness, and untrustworthiness. Our findings suggest that these issues are deeply rooted in the company's organizational structure and culture, and we propose potential solutions to address these problems. We also introduce new mathematical techniques, such as the use of hypergraphs and multi-objective optimization, to provide a more nuanced understanding of the complex dynamics at play within the customer service department.","PeriodicalId":275182,"journal":{"name":"World Journal of Advanced Engineering Technology and Sciences","volume":"14 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140362366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
