Measurement of optical dispersion in multimode polymer waveguides 多模聚合物波导中光色散的测量

We have determined the dispersion in multimode polymer waveguides at 850 nm and 990 nm. Studies using short pulse propagation through differing lengths of waveguides show sub-linear temporal pulse broadening and short equilibrium mode distribution lengths.

Numerical study of the light-beam propagation inside two-dimensional crystals 二维晶体内光束传播的数值研究

We numerically study the propagation of Gaussian beams inside two-dimensional hexagonal photonic crystal. We analyze discrepancies between finite difference time domain simulations and plane-wave calculations in terms of light propagation in dispersive negative refraction medium.

We are developing an intravascular device for mechanical thrombus removal using shape memory polymer. Laser heating activates the microactuator. Spectrophotometry, thermal imaging, and computer simulation aided the initial design effort and continue to be useful tools for optimization of the dye concentration and laser power.

In this paper, we report on the combination of nanofabrication techniques, laterally coupled micro-ring-resonator modulator design, angled multimode interference couplers, and highly efficient InP-based modulator materials, to demonstrate wavelength selective modulators arrays. Wavelength selective modulator permits the modulation of a single optical carrier without the wavelength multiplexing.

Biomedical optical methods provide distinctly new diagnostic capabilities while complementing conventional imaging modalities. To be effective, the molecular probes should produce detectable, quantifiable and discernable signals in response to light absorption or biological activation. Presently, fluorescein, indocyanine green (ICG) and fluorescent photosensitizers are widely used as optical molecular probes for in vivo imaging of tumors, possibly due to their established photophysical properties and safety profile in humans.
