This article deals with the situation of religious groups of Russian old-believers in two Baltic states (Latvia and Estonia) and Romania. The article is devoted to the results of field research, which is based on a comparison of the minority in the three states in terms of language, religion and ethnicity. The article deals with the transformation of the original identity of oldbelievers and explains the origin and history of old-believers in three countries.

The article in the form of an overview study focuses on one of the interdisciplinary methods of a qualitative scientific method based on the life story, oral history. Person shares his memories of the specific era, process or personality of the past with the interviewer. The study introduces the origin and development nowadays commonly used methods of scientific research in the Czech academic environment and also its establishment in the world. The article focuses on the methodological process and also on one of the questions currently being discussed in the methodology of oral history, insider and its influence on the process of interviewing.
