This paper focuses on the problem of oscillatory pattern reconstruction in natural images from the perspective of compressive sensing. An iterative wave atom thresholding method for the recovery of oscillatory signals is presented. This allows a better reconstruction of natural images from highly incomplete measurements. Numerical experiments on real scenes demonstrate that the method capture the structures of complex oscillatory patterns.

In different Doppler channels, the amplitude distributions of sea clutter received by terminal guidance coherent radar are different. The Rayleigh distribution and Weibull distribution can be used to describe the amplitude distribution of different Doppler channel. A novel CFAR detector is proposed. Its performance is compared with column-window CFAR detector. The simulation results confirm that the proposed CFAR detector has a better detection probability compared with column-window CFAR detector.

In this paper, we established rigorous relationship between target recognition performance and the parameters of a fixed waveform via Kullback-Leibler information number of single observation (KLINs). The method we proposed takes advantage of the methodology of sequential hypothesis test. It depicts the target recognition efficiency of certain radar waveform parameter in the metric of average number of necessary signal (ANS) transmission. Compared with the traditional simulation methods in literature, it is a more efficient and valuable one to find the optimum values of a certain waveform parameter. Simulation results about the parameters of LFM signal show the validity of the method.

Image inpainting is a technique used to automatically recover the damaged or missing regions in digital images or used to remove the unwanted objects from images. This paper presents a novel approach for recovering the damaged regions of digital images based on pyramids. The idea is to generate the pyramids of the image to the level where all the damaged pixels are fully eliminated. Then the damaged pixels are filled in from the bottom pyramid to the top. In pyramid image at level i, the damaged pixels are filled in from the EXPANDED pyramid image at level i −1, and so on up to the level 0 pyramid. The proposed technique has been tested over a large verity of images and shown excellent results to restore small damaged regions and satisfactory results for large damaged regions.

Tracking success or failure depends heavily on how distinguishable the features separating the target object from its surroundings. From local image features, three likelihood ratio features are generated for measuring the confidence scores of pixels belonging to object or background category in this paper; and further are fused to classify them into object or background class with respect to the weights updated by chunk incremental discriminant analysis in an extended feature space adaptively. Accumulated confidence score in each candidate target region is treated as the observation likelihood for estimating object state with particle filter; meanwhile to avoid particle degeneration, an iterative importance resampling algorithm that maximizing the effective sample size by evolutionary operations is proposed to preserve particles diversity. The experimental results on tracking ground vehicles in airborne videos demonstrate the robustness of the proposed tracker on the variations of object appearance.

When the received echo signal energy reflected from a target is quite small, the target cannot be detected reliably with traditional accumulation and detection method. In this paper, based on the stable factor, an improved method is proposed, which utilizes the difference of correlation characteristics between clutter and target to suppress clutter spike. Then the track-before-detect algorithm based on dynamic-programming is applied to dim radar target detection. Compared with the combination method of coherent and non-coherent integration, the predominance of the algorithm is obtained on dim radar target detection.

In order to reduce accident at traffic intersections during day and night, the algorithm of traffic lights detection which is applied in a vehicle driver assistance system is designed by using the image processing technology. The system of traffic light detection includes three parts: a CCD camera, an image acquisition card, and a PC. Based on RGB color space, the algorithm extracts red, green, and yellow objects in the image firstly; For the purpose of eliminating disturbance in the environment, the features of traffic lights are used to verify the object identity, and then the types of traffic signals are judged. The results of experiments show that the algorithm is stable and reliable.

This paper presents an novel iterative generalized selection combining (IGSC) for amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative communications based on error detection and rearranging the SNR of indirect link in decreasing order of magnitude. The destination node decides whether to accept incoming path or not in every time frame to reduce the excessive burden of maximal ratio combining (MRC) with all diversity paths. The incoming path is rearranged by the decreasing order of magnitude. Because of the computational complexity of the outage probability, we derive the upper and lower bound of the outage probability. The tightness of the upper bound is verified by Monte Carlo simulation. Numerical and simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional MRC in terms of outage probability.

An image fusion Algorithm based on variational decomposition and energy of edge is presented in this paper. Firstly, each source image is decomposed into a geometrical component and a textured component by applying Rudin-Osher-Fatemi (ROF) model in combination with Chambolle's projection algorithm. Secondly, the corresponding components are fused separately. For fusing the geometrical components, a weighted average method is adopted. To construct the textured component, a reconstruction algorithm of vector field based on structure tensor analysis is adopted. Finally, the sum of the fused composites is calculated to obtain the fused result. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm works well in multi focus image fusion.
