Introduction: the information obtained from the graduate of a course allows to apply improvements to the study plan. The degree of satisfaction of the postgraduate doctors in Internal Medicine at the Universidad Nacional de Itapúa is unknown. Objectives: to determine the satisfaction with the teaching of the graduates of the postgraduate course of the Universidad Nacional de Itapúa carried out in the Hospital Nacional de Itauguá and the Hospital Regional de Encarnación. Methodology: a prospective descriptive observational design was applied. In 2020, a structured, anonymous survey was carried out via the internet to the graduate students from both hospitals. Demographic variables, job placement and those related to satisfaction with academic content were requested. The data was subjected to descriptive statistics. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Universidad Nacional de Itapúa. Results: the survey was answered by 68 graduates, with a mean age of 33 ± 5 years, being 37 (54 %) male. 57 % reported being very satisfied, 41 % satisfied and 2 % dissatisfied with the academic training received in postgraduate studies. Conclusion: the overall satisfaction with the teaching of the graduates of the postgraduate course in Internal Medicine of the Universidad Nacional de Itapúa was 98 %. surveys and questionnaires, postgraduate education.

Leprosy is a disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae. Its chronic evolution is sometimes interrupted by immunological conditions called leprosy reaction in patients with high bacillary load. These immunological conditions increase morbidity and can be complicated, becoming life threatening. In the spectrum of these reactions, some characterized by vasculonecrotic lesions have been described, such as Lucio's Phenomenon and Necrotizing Lepromatous Nodus Erythem, which are associated with diffuse lepromatous leprosy and the species of bacilli just described, Mycobacterium lepromatosis. We present a 21-year-old female patient, who during specific treatment for multibacillary leprosy presented recurrent pictures of erythema nodosum that evolved to the necrotizing form. In this patient, the simultaneous presence of M. leprae and M. lepromatosis as the cause of the disease was determined through molecular biology. This case represents the first communication of M. lepromatosis in Paraguay, and also the first dual infection as a causative agent of leprosy, in association with M. leprae.

Introduction: chorioamnionitis occurs in 3 to 10 % of full-term pregnancies, and newborns are at risk of developing early sepsis. Objectives: to determine the prevalence of neonatal sepsis in children of term pregnant women with chorioamnionitis; describe the clinical characteristics of mothers and newborns; and evaluate the utility of the sepsis scale (Rodwell scale and PCR) for diagnosis. ISSN 2072-8174 versión impresa Rev. Nac. (Itauguá). 2020;12(1):071-090 ISSN 2307-3640 versión online Rev. Nac. (Itauguá). 2020;12(1):071-090 Methodology: descriptive study, of term newborns, product of mothers with clinical chorioamnionitis, born and admitted to the Servicio de Neonatología del Hospital Nacional from January 2013 to June 2016. Stillbirths, carriers of STORCH infections, and they had no blood culture. Results: 71 term infants met inclusion criteria. The maternal population was made up of adolescents and young adults in 98,5 %, nulliparous and prim parous in 94 %, membrane rupture was >18 hours in 34 (47,8 %) and the birth was performed by caesarean section in 24 (35, 2 %). The reasons for cesarean section were stationary dilation and acute fetal distress in 17 (69,8 %). Neonatal sepsis developed 11 (15,4 %), 3 were confirmed with a positive blood culture, 10 symptoms and 7 depression at birth. Neither died. The first sepsis scale performed at 3,8 ± 1,8 hours of life, and the second at a median of 45,5 hours, had a positive predictive value of 50 % and 60 %. The negative predictive value was 85 and 87 % respectively. Conclusion: neonatal sepsis presented in 15,4 %. Almost all were symptomatic and depressed at birth. The sepsis scale was not useful to confirm the diagnosis, but to rule it out.

Introduction: superficial mycoses or dermatomycosis are among the most common skin infectious diseases. These are located in the superficial layers of the skin and its annexes (hair and nails), for this reason it´s a frecuent cause of medical consult. Of these mycoses, dermatophytosis, malasseziosis and cutaneous candidiasis are the most frequent. Objectives: describe the epidemiological characteristics of superficial mycoses of skin. Methodology: observational, retrospective and cross-sectional study, where epidemiological records of patients who were attended at the Dermatological Specialties Center were analyzed in the period from July 2017 to August 2019, with presumptive diagnosis of superficial mycoses of skin. Results: 341 cases of superficial mycosis of skin were observed. Among the causative agents, dermatophytes were responsible for 56 % (190/341) of the cases; Malassezia sp. 42 % (142/341) and Candida sp. 2 % (9/341). Three cases of mixed mycosis were observed; Candida spp. and Dermatophytes were the causative agents. Conclusion: among the superficial mycoses of skin, dermatophytes followed by malaseziosis are in the first places. This report constitutes an important contribution to the knowledge of the epidemiology of superficial mycoses in our country.
