This paper presents the detection of architectural distortion a common classification of cancer, using countourlet transform and the phase portrait methods. The architectural distortion is a very important finding in interpreting breast cancers as well as microcalcification and mass on mammograms. However, it is more difficult for physicians to detect architectural distortion than microcalcification and mass. The proposed detection method consists of five steps. Initially, the Otsu technique was performed for segmentation. In order to smooth the edges, the top-hat processing was performed. The contourlet decomposing is performed so that the image can be filtered in multidirections; the phase portrait analysis is done for the orientation analysis purpose. The false positives were eliminated by their concentration of white spaces in the sliding window. Our image database consisted 16 cases from MIAS with architectural distortions. As a result, it was convincing that our methods were effective to detect architectural distortions and further need to be increased with the textural analysis.

This paper presents entry for aura response for character recognition and the handwritten or printed text translation into editable text. The objective is to identify handwritten characters with the help of neural networks and facilitates the conversion of handwritten documents to editable text from document images. Handwritten contentedness boasts challenges that are seldom encountered in machine-printed text. The translation basis is either mechanical or electronic translation. This is not easy since different people have different handwriting styles. Assigning distinct templates to each and every alphabet and numbers is the approach described. This concept can be a trademark in data entry applications. The suggested method is simple, have promising discrimination accuracy and less time complexity.

Detection of orientation of a human being with respect to a static camera is an important problem in computer vision. This paper proposes a method for detection of orientation of a human being from four different orientations (e.g. front, side-left, side-right, back) with respect to a static camera. In the proposed method, extraction of features of a human being has been performed in terms of boundary description known as the signature. A template database of four different human orientations has been created. The extracted features of a testing sample have been compared with that stored in the template database and a dissimilarity value has been calculated. The classification has been performed using the dissimilarity value as a metric. The results obtained are encouraging.

Rake receivers are used for the detection of transmitted data in case of WCDMA communication systems due to its resistance to multipath fading. But rake receiver treat multiuser interference (MUI) as AWGN and have limitation in overcoming the effect of multiple access interference (MAI) when the SNR is high. A de-correlating matched filter has been used in this paper, which eliminates and improves system performance. Simulated results show a significant performance improvement for De-correlating RAKE receiver in terms of BER compared to a rake receiver. The performance of the de-correlating receiver for different spreading factor is also analysed.

The interdependency between pitch estimation and pitch-based separation creates a problem for pitch estimation and voice separation. It is observed that the target pitch can be estimated from a few harmonics of the target signal. The trend estimation algorithm is proposed to bound the singing pitch in a plausible range and an extended tandem algorithm is also proposed that estimates target pitch and separates singing voice from music accompaniment iteratively. By coupling with the proposed trend estimation, the tandem algorithm is improved significantly for both pitch estimation and voice separation in musical recordings. Systematic evaluation shows that the proposed algorithm performs significantly better than a previous CASA and a model-based system.

In this paper, Look-Ahead Fuzzy Logic Controller is proposed for Vehicle Suspension System (VSS). Look-Ahead Fuzzy Logic Controller introduces Grey Prediction algorithm to pre-compensate rather than post-compensate the system output error. Grey Prediction algorithm is used to predict the position output error and rate of change of error of the sprung mass. The proposed controller is simulated for Quarter Car model in MATLAB. Simulation results show that the proposed controller enhances the ride comfort of VSS when compared to Traditional Fuzzy Logic controller and passive system.

The introduction of the initial split-ring resonator(SRR) structure, inspired by the pioneering works of Pendry was a major breakthrough in realizing MNG(μ-negative) medium which is an essential component of left-handed medium(LHM). Since then SRR has been a major topic of interest in the metamaterial research fraternity. A complete review on the working of SRR, pros and cons of using SRR in microwave applications over other naturally existing magnetic materials is presented in this paper. Various parameters influencing the resonant frequency of SRR are also discussed. In the quest for achieving reduced size and improved performance different structures have been proposed by researchers. Complete survey on different structures that have evolved over the period are discussed.

Today, users will get so many movie recommendations websites, which suggest users best movies according to their interests. All these websites have implemented one of the conventional content, context and collaborative recommendations algorithms. Alone, these algorithms are failed to recommend best and efficient recommendations to user. So, there is a need to evolve a unique algorithm which combines the features of conventional algorithm along with its new features. This paper describes the ORBIT, which is a movie recommendation engine, based on a unique Hybrid recommendation algorithm, satisfies a user by providing best and efficient books recommendations. Comparative case study of conventional recommendation algorithms to ORBIT's Hybrid movie recommendation algorithm has also been studied and presented in this paper. This case study is based on evaluating criteria of recommendation algorithm i.e. accuracy, precision, recall, F-measure etc. Results of this case study are represented in the form of tables and graphs to clearly specify the need of ORBIT.

In recent years, the need to improve the quality and comfort of railway passengers, there has been increased demands to reduce the level of noise and vibration, experienced during travel. Different researches have focused on reducing the level of vibration. Track irregularities are the main causes of vibration and thus carefully monitor the parameter to improve the ride quality. Vibration may arise vertically and laterally, in this vertical vibration is higher. In this paper, we proposed a new method called Fuzzy Track Monitoring System (FTMS) for estimating the irregularities present in the railway track at running time. The vibration sensor is mounted on the axel box and the bogie of the train for measuring the acceleration in the lateral and vertical directions. The system automatically tracks the location of vibration and sends it to the central office. The performance of proposed approach was studied and it proves that the proposed approach is capable for real time measurements.

A Dedicated Memory Controller is of prime importance in applications that do not contain microprocessors (high-end applications). The Memory Controller provides command signals for memory refresh, read and write operation and initialization of SDRAM. Our work will focus on ASIC Design methodology of Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM Controller that is located between the DDR SDRAM and Bus Master. The Controller simplifies the SDRAM command interface to standard system read/write interface and also optimizes the access time of read/write cycle. Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM Controller is implemented using Cadence RTL Compiler.
