ModeRator is an online software tool for comparison of stoichiometric models written in COBRA-compatible format. Its main purpose is to detect the inconsistencies of complex models and to compare the models even without having Matlab and COBRA toolbox installed on a computer. The tool can be used online at http://biosystems.lv/moderator/ or hosted on a local computer. ModeRator is implemented in pure PHP, and its source code can be downloaded from http://sourceforge.net. The application and installation instructions are available. Additionally, a video tutorial is available on Youlube. ModeRator was tested on two representative genome-scale metabolic network models of Zymomonas Mobilis. The results show that the proposed software tool is able to correctly analyse/compare the models.

Motivation for the research effort presented in this paper is to use the cloud computing storage and computational capabilities for text mining tasks. Cloud computing is nowadays favored approach in area of data- analysis and related fields by providing data storage and computational capabilities as the services. Main aim of our research activities is to design and develop experimental cloud platform for text mining tasks. In this particular paper we describe the design and implementation of a distributed tree-based algorithm for text categorization purposes. We used our own implementation of decision tree classification algorithm and used Gridgain framework for its cloud implementation. Cloud also provides storage services for handling large data collections as well as increases computational effectiveness as the algorithm is implemented in distributed fashion. We describe the experiments we have performed on the private cloud using the two datasets and analyze the results.

This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of DTF method, by simulating a network and testing how it responds to different situations. All the packets injected into the simulator are collected from real computers. The simulator allow to create a virtual network, with as many network stations as desired. The simulation proves that DTF method can quickly determine if a MAC address is or it is not what it claims to be.

In recent years the higher education system in Romania has been through a series of transformations. These transformations reflects European tendencies but also the changes due to the new Romanian Education Law. The universities involved in this project, described here, are at the avant-garde of these changes and promote innovation in post-graduate education. But are the prospective students and the universities ready to take the challenge? And is it the eLearning environment going to be a viable model for a multi-regional Masters degree? A study, which focuses on the first semester of piloting, was conducted recently in order to answer these questions.

This paper presents a PV panel simulation model using the single-diode four-parameter model based on data sheet values. The model was implemented first in MATLAB/Simulink, and the results have been compared with the data sheet values and characteristics of the PV panels in standard test conditions. Moreover to point out the strong dependency on ambient conditions and its influence on array operation and to validate simulation results with measured data a complex model has also been developed. A PV inverter model, using the same equations and parameters as in MATLAB/Simulink has also been developed and implemented in PowerFactory to study load flow, steady-state voltage stability and dynamic behavior of a distributed power system.

Industrial companies are forced into quick and effective product development of in order to comply with increasing competition. Flexible product definition is required together with very short innovation cycle. In order to achieve this, leading companies apply product model based lifecycle management of product information (PLM). In this way, demands for engineering stimulate development of product modeling. Latest developments in paradigm PLM 2.0 represent efforts in research for industrially applicable advanced knowledge based definition of product objects. The authors joined to these efforts by several works during the recent years. In this paper, they introduce one of their latest results. New method is applied for the control of product object definition. A special product model entity is introduced for the control of feature parameter definition. This entity is called as adaptive action and it carries proposed or decided human influence information and connects human request based product model extension by the authors with currently applied product model. Definitions of knowledge in latest professional industrial product models facilitate implementation of the proposed method in the PLM practice.

The paper proposes to identify and correlate in a synthetically way three key items involved in low back pain management: diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Specific methods are presented for all items, in order to integrate them in a complex knowledge base. The paper also proposes the integration of experimental biomechanical investigation as a useful tool in management of the low back pain and presents a complex investigation protocol designed to assess both posture and mobility of lumbar spine. The final goal of the research is to develop, in a future stage, an expert system for an advanced management of low back pain.

The paper presents some considerations regarding the problematic of asynchronous generator's (AG) excitation. There are presented some theoretical considerations regarding the efficiency of the capacitive excited asynchronous generator compounding regarding the load voltage variation compensation. There is presented the determination of the compounding condenser's capacity by using the graph-analytical method and respectively the calculation of the compound condenser excited induction generator characteristics even in the case of low speed AG. The above method can be applied in the case of energy power stations such as wind aggregates connected to the power grid.

File-carving, as part of the data recovery process, is a topic of great interest due to its potential to minimize cost- impact in business environments, where the losses are significant every year, according to public reports. Starting with a modified version of the signature database of TrID, a long-established file-identification utility, and implementing a multiple-pattern matching algorithm that extends the Aho-Corasick automaton, we propose an approach suitable for multi-core systems for performing carving using complex patterns, that describe filetypes more accurately, making it also suitable for digital forensics. The experimental results have shown that our approach performs better and identifies data with greater accuracy, with lower than 3% performance degradation in the processing bandwidth of the original approach.

The class of non-minimum phase systems modeled by transfer functions with “unstable” zeros is considered as a controlled plant in control systems. The stabilization and control of this class of systems is difficult stabilizing because of the unusual behavior in both time and frequency domains. The paper shows that fuzzy control is a successful control solution for this class of systems. With this regard, the paper proposes two hybrid fuzzy controllers of Takagi-Sugeno type that cope with the class of second-order non-minimum phase systems with a “right half plane zero”.
