The paper deals with the determination of minimum zone flatness error based on the convex hull approach. It focuses on the different components of measurement uncertainty and their contribution to flatness uncertainty. The nature of the convex hull approach reduces the number of datapoints having a major effect on flatness measurement uncertainty.

This paper describes design and integration of several tools for ICT-based support of knowledge intensive activities within the process of collaborative policy modelling proposed by the project OCOPOMO. This process combines collaborative creation and analysis of narrative scenarios with agent-based simulation models. The policy model for a given domain is created iteratively using cooperation of several stakeholder groups (decision makers, analysts, companies, civic societies, and the general public). Integration of scenario generation module, annotation module, model preparing phases and simulation tool (with the visualization tools) makes the whole OCOPOMO platform. The main focus of the paper is on the presentation of design and integration aspects of the architecture. Therefore, we describe software components, functionality, as well as some integration details.

SAP implemented a very deep level synchronous connection type based on industry standards, but early enough, in the first releases SAP enhanced this to Remote Function Call protocol and technology. The Remote Function Call technology opened the system to other SAP systems or external applications. Remote function call (RFC) is the fundamental technique for many different communication approaches within SAP solutions. Our document tries to uncover the different capabilities and usability of the SAP communication types like CPI-C, RFC, Q-API, tRFC, etc. In our study we figured out that main points of remote communication usage in a heterogeneous environment where SAP also in place are the business level communication from other SAP system or external application via business application programming interface (BAPI), and the loosely coupled distributed system environment, the ALE (application link enabling) communications based on RFCs.

Nowadays economy demands elimination of any kind of wastes, and transportation is recognized as one of them. Efficient usage of routing algorithms can significantly reduce travelling distance and transportation costs as well. This paper describes usage of the shortest-path algorithm (in this case Dijkstra's algorithm) for inner transportation optimization in warehouses. The model integrates data such as: 2D graph of warehouse layout, its 3D extension, historical data, ABC analysis and business process model. The prototype of proposed application is tested with sample data and by simulating different working conditions. Interpretation of obtained results is given too.

The transport system plays a prominent part for modern society. The studies in this area have an aims to improve the transport network by developing a new optimization methods. This paper presents a new model to estimate the throughput system of the transport network nodes (junctions). The capacity analysis focuses on determining how the changes of the capacity value has influence on the transport network .

Nowadays, control of dynamical systems with uncertainties is a common problem. Many sulutions can be found in the literature, one of these methods is the family of Robust Fixed Point Transformations (RFPT) with local basin of attraction. The method is based on the idea that if someone has to use an approximate model in a control task, there is a function which, locally converging to the right solution, can reduce the disadvantages of the approximation. In this paper, authors show that though RFPT can loose its local convergensity, it can still improve a simple controller's results and this improvement makes the controller's behavior very similar to that of a sliding mode controller. The similarity includes the so called chattering effect, but a simple smoothing algorithm is also introuced to minimize the fluctuation of the control signal.

This paper presents aspects concerning embedding Gravitational Search Algorithms (GSAs) in Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems. The GSAs are used in combination with the Back Propagation (BP) algorithm as optimization algorithms in the training process of a specific CNN architecture for OCR applications. The new algorithm consists of applying first the GSA and next the BP in order to ensure performance improvements by avoiding the algorithms' traps in local minima. A performance analysis for a given benchmark application shows the advantages of our algorithm over the classical BP algorithm for a six layer CNN dedicated to OCR applications.

The large variety of application domains and the large number of applications developed indicate the interest given in efficient and optimal designing of Cyber Physical Systems (CPSs). The UML Profile introduced in this paper is part of a larger project, for an intuitive and easy to use programming model for CPS application design. It is defined to help designing wireless communication part of a CPS underlying network infrastructure. The UML approach allows a better structural and behavioral description of various parts of an embedded system. Models provide support for testing and validating such systems through simulation before deploying them on the physical environment. Benefits of the proposed UML Profile are presented in this paper using an intersection traffic management application as a case study.

In this study, we will analyze the cardinality of the ε-join random database operation for some representative types of attributes' probability distributions. The goal of our research is to establish and prove inequalities that take place between the cardinalities of the result sets obtained in these cases. In the beginning of our approach, we have focused on three representative continuous probability distributions: the uniform, the exponential and the normal, taking into consideration their standard forms. We will introduce the conclusions we could have drawn after the practical experiments which we have performed, we will state these results and we will provide a sound proof for them.
