An Efficient Approach for Shorterm Load Forecasting using Artificial Neural Networks 一种基于人工神经网络的短期负荷预测方法

In previous work, we applied artificial neural networks (ANN) for short term load forecasting using real load and weather data from the Hydro-Quebec databases where three types of variables were used as inputs to the neural network: a) hour and day indicators, b) weather related inputs, and c) historical loads. In general, for forecasting with a lead time of up to a few days ahead, load history (for the last few days) is not available, and therefore, estimated values of this load are used instead. However, a small error in these estimated values may grow up dramatically and lead to a serious problem in load forecasting since this error is fed back as an input to the forecasting procedure. In this paper, we demonstrate ANN capabilities in load forecasting without the use of load history as an input. In addition, only temperature (from weather variables) is used, in this application, where results show that other variables like sky condition (cloud cover) and wind velocity have no serious effect and may not be considered in the load forecasting procedure

In this paper, a new braking resistor approach using the equal area criterion (EAC) is presented to improve the transient stability of power systems. A conventional and a fuzzy logic controller have been developed and compared. The proposed approach was tested on a single machine system, and then on the IEEE WSCC multimachine test system. Simulation results indicate that the proposed approach provides a simple and effective method for the transient stability improvement

A Model- Based Approach to Automatic Diagnosis Using General Purpose Circuit Simulators 基于模型的通用电路仿真器自动诊断方法

An approach is proposed to automatic testing of analog electronic circuits using PSpice-like general purpose circuit simulators based on parameterized models of the faulty elements. Using time domain response parameters that well characterize the faults, the set of typical faulty variants of the circuit is simulated. Using post-processing of the obtained results and macro-definitions in the graphical analyzer probe, a diagnosis of parametric faults in the circuit is performed. The models of the faulty elements are defined in the form of parameterized library components for the Cadence PSpice simulator. Examples are given illustrating the proposed approach

Rating Reduction of Static Compensator for Voltage Control of Three-Phase Self-Excited Induction Generator 三相自励感应发电机电压控制中静态补偿器的额定降低

This paper describes the use of series capacitor in rating reduction of static compensator (STATCOM) for voltage regulation of three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG). A SEIG driven through a constant speed prime mover such as gasoline engine requires an appropriate combination of shunt and series capacitors to improve its voltage regulation under varying load conditions. Inclusion of fixed value of series capacitor provide additional VARs with increasing load to enhance the voltage regulation of the SEIG. However, the SEIG being a weak power supply system with limited kVA experiences large voltage dip with variable output power and fixed excitation in stand-alone applications. The problem of voltage dip arising from varying loads is reduced with use of STATCOM along with fixed excitation. The shunt excitation capacitor needs to supply the reactive power of demand of SEIG to generate rated voltage at no-load. In the present study the transient performance of series capacitor compensated SEIG-STATCOM system has been analyzed through simulation in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The simulation results have revealed that with inclusion of series capacitors along with STATCOM improves the voltage regulation of SEIG under varying loads. Moreover, the use of fixed value of series capacitor has resulted in significant reduction in the rating of STATCOM

The paper presents a process automation technique using Internet. The problems associated with communication delay through Internet are addressed and a hierarchical control structure is proposed to overcome the delay problems. The scalable network architecture employs simple software agents that relieves or aids human operator and gives flexibility to operate from anywhere in the world.

Static Modeling and Pull-in Analysis of an Electrostatic Actuator 静电作动器的静态建模与拉入分析

This paper investigated the static performance of a rectangular micromirror supported by a straight beam and actuated by either one of the two bottom electrodes. The uniform straight beam is attached to the microplate and anchored to the substrate. Theoretical analysis of the static performance and pull-in phenomenon of the actuator is performed first and further continued by the comparison of analytical results and simulations. The actuator, fabricated using MicraGEM process, can be applied to fine tune the steering angle of a light beam reflected by the microplate through careful selection of geometry parameters of the actuator before fabrication and voltage control algorithm after prototyping

According to the defined functions, the effect of parameter variations over outputs of vector controller can be determined. Modeling Issues in Three-Phase Current Source Rectifiers that use Damping Resistors 使用阻尼电阻的三相电流源整流器的建模问题

The model of a three-phase current source rectifier (CSR) is a complex mathematical representation as it is nonlinear, multi-variable, and coupled. In order to work with a simplified but still accurate model, a representation in a rotating reference frame dq0 in combination with an average model are normally used. The result is a model that operates with ripple free inputs, outputs, and state variables that should be the accurate average value of the actual variables. However, the average model of these topologies could lead to errors if damping resistors are used. A case study shows as much as 10% error in the DC link current between the actual value and the predicted by the average model. This paper finds and shows systematically the source of the error and proposes a method for the accurate average modeling of CSRs with damping resistors. Simulated results show the validity of the theoretical considerations

Recognition of Grip-Patterns by Using Capacitive Touch Sensors 利用电容式触摸传感器识别握持模式

A novel and intuitive way of accessing applications of mobile devices is presented. The key idea is to use grip-pattern, which is naturally produced when a user tries to use the mobile device, as a clue to determine an application to be launched. To this end, a capacitive touch sensor system is carefully designed and installed underneath the housing of the mobile device to capture the information of the user's grip-pattern. The captured data is then recognized by a minimum distance classifier and a naive Bayes classifier. The recognition test is performed to validate the feasibility of the proposed user interface system
