A device is presented that creates a large area plasma for splicing optical fibers. The isothermic thermal properties of the plasma facilitate splicing fibers >1mm in diameter without sacrificing splicing performance of standard fibers.

A novel, monolithic, widely tunable digital concatenated grating DBR laser for optical communications and sensors is proposed. Continuous tuning over 60 nm with high SMSRs and low threshold gains has been demonstrated here with simulated results.

Impact of linewidth on system impairment caused by backreflection in WDM PONs 线宽对WDM PONs中反向反射引起的系统损伤的影响

This paper experimentally investigates the impact of linewidth on system impairment in WDM-PONs for various wavelength-independent ONU configurations. We show that the power penalty decreases and the optimal ONU gain changes as the linewidth increases.

A P2P-based solution for optical Grid is experimentally demonstrated on a LOBS testbed. Experimental results show that P2P can be synergy with optical Grid well and the disadvantages existed in C/S-based optical Grid are solved.
