The “Minha Casa, Minha Vida” Program (PMCMV) is the main Brazilian government initiative to remedy the country's housing deficit, which, due to its reality, requires adequate management, avoiding detours that could make it unfeasible. In this sense, the objective was to evaluate the PMCMV results based on the perception of the beneficiary families. The theoretical framework was based on the concepts of evaluation of social programs and their application to the housing context. The investigation occurred in Minas Gerais, considering a sample of 110 families distributed in eight municipalities. We adopted three categories: housing unit, housing complex and environment. In relation to the housing unit, beneficiaries of horizontal housing were more satisfied; large families showed lower satisfaction and the second phase of the Program was better evaluated. On the housing set, beneficiaries of the vertical groups, with less members and of enterprises of the second phase were more satisfied. As for the environment, there was a decrease in satisfaction with infrastructure and access to the city as family size increased. From the contact with the beneficiaries was clear the social importance of the PMCMV and the modification promoted in their lives. It is considered necessary, based on the critical points raised, to continue making corrections in the Program so that the promoted improvements can solve the social inequalities.

This study aimed to analyze the effect of corporate returns after the disclosure of inclusion in the Global 100 ranking. For this purpose, the methodology of the Study of Events was used, based on the hypothesis of a semi-strong efficient market. The Global 100 rankings considered in this study were the ones released over 12 years, from 2005 to 2016. The survey sample composed of the shares of the companies that had data on the date of their inclusion, and thus consisting of 266 shares. The variable used was daily quotations of companies' shares during the estimation period (160 days) and event window (21 days) and the market indices of the countries in which the share was quoted, collected in the Thomson Reuters Database®. The results showed that the release of the Global 100 ranking did not cause significant positive or negative effect on the cumulative abnormal returns (CARs) of the shares of listed companies.

The purpose of this study is to analyze human resource management in organizations operating in Brazil, in connection to generational issues and commitment. A multi-case study was carried out in two companies: Dow and Promon. Questionnaires were applied to 331 Dow employees (out of a total population of 2465) and 298 Promon employees (out of a total population of 1800). As for generational management, results demonstrated that such management is not carried out in a formal manner, but rather takes place only informally through other programs that achieve this duty indirectly. At Promon, hierarchical position causes such a variation, whereas in Dow it is due to time at the company. Such differences are explained by the particular characteristics of the organizations. Such management takes place only informally, through other programs that achieve this duty indirectly. From this result, and from the display of the importance of productive coexistence among generations, the need for implementing formal policies that fulfill such a need can be observed. Generally speaking, although there is evidence of age-based generational differences in Brazil, there is evidence that human resource policies and practices, though not geared towards generational management, have the potential to make people commit in a similar manner, irrespective of their age. Keywords Generations; Human resource management; Commitment.

This paper aims to show the importance of the use of financial metrics in decision-making of credit scoring models selection. In order to achieve such, we considered an automatic approval system approach and we carried out a performance analysis of the financial metrics on the theoretical portfolios generated by seven credit scoring models based on main statistical learning techniques. The models were estimated on German Credit dataset and the results were analyzed based on four metrics: total accuracy, error cost, risk adjusted return on capital and Sharpe index. The results show that total accuracy, widely used as a criterion for selecting credit scoring models, is unable to select the most profitable model for the company, indicating the need to incorporate financial metrics into the credit scoring model selection process.

The objective of the study was to analyze consumers' perceptions about green seals, according to how well known these seals are and to their own profile of green consumption. Therefore, a theoretical reference was made on sustainable consumption, as well as on the application of green seals in the perspective of green marketing. The method adopted was a hypothetical-deductive approach, carried out through two experiments (one online and the other face-to-face), both with factorial design 2 (true and well-known green seal versus false seal and nothing known) x 2 very sustainable versus low sustainable consumer profile). In view of the results obtained, four main discussions could be made, such as the possibility of greenwashing due to the clear mention of environmental aspects, either in relation to the seal itself or to the statements underlying it, the ineffectiveness of adopting green seals and influence of this ineffectiveness even in consumers who reported having a more sustainable consumption profile.

In this study the influence of the capital structure in the investments in innovation of 120 industries listed on the BM&FBovespa was analyzed in the period from 2013 to 2015. As proxies for capital structure, we consider short-term, long-term and total debt. In order to represent the investments in innovation, the number of registered patents and the percentage of expenditure in with R&D in relation to sales were considered. Through the Fischer LSD Test, it was possible to verify that companies that do not invest in innovation have higher debts. Through linear regression with panel data, it was verified that only the long-term and total debts have a positive influence on innovation investments through patents. Therefore, the results suggest that own resources may be insufficient to investments in innovation, leading third parties resources to contribute to the increase of investments in innovation through patent registration as stated by the Pecking Order Theory, as well as to collaborate to the reduction of agency costs, limiting the role of the managers, as proposed by the Agency Theory.

This paper aims to present some reflections on Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutics, showing his onto-epistemological and theoretical-methodological basis as an alternative perspective to Discourse Analysis. Moreover, I present some ancillary discussions that aim to reflect on (i) the current stage of the discourse analysis (DA) as a field; and (ii) the theoretical development of the discourse in the hermeneutics tradition. Despite of the consolidation of the discourse as object of Organizational Studies, this specific essay is exploratory, proposing discussions about a dense but still uncommon author in the field. In addition, I argue that the DA development has come at the expense of deeper philosophical analysis and conceptual rigor, revealing a gap in terms of theoretical discussions. I also demonstrate how the most elementary Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutics concepts are intimately connected to the structural philosophical aspects of the discourse. The conclusions are presented throughout the exposition, but culminate in a defense of Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutics as an epistemology for DA.

This work aims to show the first experience with an anthropologically inspired research of PhD students from Management course, who researched the daily routine of beauty salons in the city of Sao Paulo. 120 hours of observation were made during three months. The data obtained from the field notes and the data analysis was conducted by grounded theory. This inaugural experience of the PhD students contributes to the debate about ethnographic research in the management field and about research practice in the researcher training process.
