The healthy and happy human living revolves around establishing and maintaining stable relationships with each other.  The life experiences pose whether these meaningful relationships are considered important for the well-being of individuals and communities. People constantly strive for cordial interactions with others, on one side, to avoid psycho-physiological damages such as loneliness and disapproval from others and on the other side, to shape their life meaningfully and grow purposefully. Empathy has been considered a vital component of one’s social cognition that contributes to one’s ability to understand and respond adaptively to others’ emotions that promotes prosocial behaviour in interpersonal relationships and communications. Empathy enhances cognitive abilities and emotional stability thus promoting well being in interpersonal relationships (Preston & de Wall, 2002). The human qualities, for instance, attraction, love, kinship, friendship, jealousy, betrayal, forgiveness, communication, conflict and aggression are either positively or negatively connected to human relationship domain and vital for the wellbeing at all levels.  And, for upholding wellbeing and interpersonal relationships, the predominant and promising dynamic seems to be the psychological component of empathy. The present presentation pungently brings out the conceptual details on the concept of empathy along with its imperative role in enhancing interpersonal affinity or relationships in enhancing wellbeing in general.  This paper is presented to establish that empathy enhances the interpersonal relationship and well-being across the life span.

Wellbeing is a multidimensional practical concept that captures a mix of people’s life circumstances. Categorically wellbeing may be divided into three divisions: physical, mental and social wellbeing. As a construct, it may also be perceived as objective wellbeing (relates to material attributes like the amount of wealth, provision of education and health care and social infrastructure) and subjective wellbeing (how people think and feel about their quality of life). In both, the dimension Environment, more specifically the natural environment plays an important key role- both negative and positive. Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), [1] postulates the ecosystem approach as a means of understanding the roles played by land, water and living resources of the environment (ecological resources) in the life of people as well as integrated management of cultural and biological diversity of the land and the people. Ecosystems are defined as the functional units that are in continual dynamic and complex interaction among plants, animals, water bodies, forest, climate and all other non-living issues in the environment. Ecosystem services are the benefits that people are supposed to or actually obtain from the ecosystem. These inter-phase interactional dynamics is the guiding principle of Ecopsychiatry - where environmental issues influence positively or negatively on the mental health of the people (individual) and the community (collective).  Or in other words the impact of environmental specificity (of normal or abnormal state) on the mental health and wellbeing (as also physical and spiritual) of the community or individual. The following inter-connected Eco-psychiatric issues that negatively impacted human wellbeing (both physical and mental) are discussed:Anthropogenic factors and its impact on population density, land distribution, agricultural production, food insecurity and poverty.Attempts to enhance the crop production in a climatic uncertainty and saline field by pesticide over/incorrect -use - resultant in a high incidence of mortality and morbidity (accidental and deliberate self-harm/suicide) of human and pesticide contamination of the environment.Nutritional deficiency, animal health and livestock: salinization of water impacted the availability of freshwater fish species, and thus depriving the poor of their protein food source and adversely impacting the income and family integrity.Risk factors in human-animal conflicts (tiger/ crocodile/snake attacks) and resultant mortality and morbidity: forest exploration for livelihood measures (fishing, timber-honey-crab-collection) leading to death, family disruption, poverty and overuse of eco-resources.Sea-level change and its impact on environment and wellbeing: the health of human, animals, mangrove vegetation, repeated storm and flood, inundation of salt water in agricultural field (high salinity), flood and destruction of life and property is a recurrent event.Land erosion and destru

The North-East of India has been a hotly debated territory of India with voices coming up from different states such as Nagaland, Manipur and Assam demanding separate nations for themselves. These separatist agitations have got further confounded with a constant influx of Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh which began to impinge on the local cultural identities and demographics. This resulted in a prolonged militancy coupled with agitations yielding space for the Pakistani/Sri Lanka/Bangladesh based militants to infiltrate into India through porous borders of the North East and engage some disgruntled ultra outfits in the North East to wage a battle against India. In fact, Naga agitation for separate country bears a lot of similarity with the LTTE’s struggle for separate Eelam in Sri Lanka. Both have a lot of diaspora support and web-based campaign movements (Maya Ranganathan, 2010: 127-149). All these developments have complicated the prospects of the economic and industrial growth in this region. This resulted in the staggering illiteracy and unemployment for over a decade. Towards addressing the problems of the region, the government of India has taken a political decision to establish as many as seven central universities under its direct funding to ensure that the region gets the best education which might contribute further for enhanced employment opportunities in the region. Also, various department under Assam Government such as the Tourism Department, Health Department, Education Department, Social welfare Department etc has been provided with e-governance facilities for the users. The study assumes significance from the point of view that how far the e-services of various departments leads to the sustainable growth of the state and what is the role of media, government and educational institutes to improve the sustainable growth of the states through e-services.

Nowadays in India we see many incidents of mob lynching taking place and that too on another level. Gathering together and turning it into mob lynching is kind of abnormal behaviour. The other aspect of mob lynching is antisocial behaviour. Such behaviour of person/people is seen due to the influence of the Group's ideas, thoughts. The reason is that the way group thinks about a particular issue same is perceived by each individual/ civilian of the group without proper knowledge and thus without awareness or unconsciously they like to perform and turned out to be a terrifying, vulnerable behaviour. It does mean that the influence of Groups ideas leads to abnormal behaviour and also incidents like khairlalji, Massacre in Dhule are responsible for creating terror, insecurity, suspicious, doubtful environment which is disturbing not only the mental health but also the social health of people such incidents create castism and smashes social integrity this creates a threat to mankind. In the present research study, the total sample of 120 college students of Jalgaon city is selected using simple random sampling technique. The tools used for the research for measuring Mob lynching behaviour a self-made Mob lynching behaviour test is used. A 2x2 factorial design is used. For statistical analysis Mean, SD, ANOVA and correlation methods are used.

Cyberbullying and Its Impact on Mental Health of Adolescents
Pub Date : 2019-03-17 DOI: 10.21013/JMSS.V14.N2SP.P1
Dimpy Mahanta, Sulakshana Khatoniyar
The impact of social media in the twenty-first century is huge and extensive. Its role is simply impossible to ignore especially with reference to the young people or adolescents. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, bullying is an aggressive behaviour that seeks to control, harm or threaten others. Cyber-bullying refers to bullying or harassment that takes place in the virtual world such as social networking sites, emails etc., using digital devices like computer, cell-phone and so on. With the onset of technology and the rise of social media, children and adolescents are bringing their bullies home with them. There is no safe zone anymore as this form of bullying can happen at any time, anyplace and any situation. The present study was undertaken to find out the association between cyber-bullying and mental health issues of adolescents. In order to achieve this objective, the investigators used a descriptive survey method of research. The population for the study has been defined as the eleventh and twelfth-grade students. The sample comprised of 100 students (50 male and 50 female students), which was selected with the help of incidental sampling technique. Questionnaires were used for data collection. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation was used to find out the relationship (if any) between the variables and Students’ t-test was used to find the gender difference (if any) on the variables mentioned. The study reveals that the majority of the student population have been victims or have witnessed cyberbullying and have been involved in bullying others. There is a strong association between cyberbullying and degrading mental health of adolescents. The findings and the implications of the study have been discussed in the paper.

India, consisting of 16 percent of world population subsists only on 2.4 percent land resources.  Agriculture is the only source of livelihood to the two third of the population which gives employment to 57 percent of the workforce. Agriculture in India is often regarded as gambling with monsoons, because of its almost exclusive dependency on precipitation from monsoons. The failure of monsoons leading to a series of droughts, lack of better prices, exploitation by middlemen, and Gene Modified (GM) seed companies who are selling expensive cotton seeds and fertilizers, all of which have led to a series of suicides committed by farmers across India. Farmers' suicides are a complex phenomenon. Since the 1990s farmer suicides in India have made headlines.  The journalist   Palagummi Sainath highlighted that 17,500 farmers were suicides between 2002 to 2006. The government figures show 14,000 farmers took their own lives in 2011. The total number of farmers’ suicides crossed 3 lakh mark till in 2014.  That most suicides occurred in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Punjab. This study seeks to investigate news items on farmers’ suicides in the Indian newspapers. A quantitative content analysis was adopted in this research. This study used two English dailies i.e. The Hindu and The New Indian Express and two Telugu dailies i.e. Eenadu and Andhrajyothi were taken for analysis. It is not a random sample.  In this, a purposive sample method was adopted. The selection time period was one year i.e. from January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2015. Keeping in view ten subject categories have been mainly identified for this research. All the data collected were analyzed simple percentage and mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, Chi-square have been used for analysis.

The case is all about the journey of an entrepreneur Mr. Musthafa with his venture iD Fresh Foods India Ltd. Back in 2006 with a humble beginning, as a small store selling Idli and Dosa batter at Tippsandra, Bengaluru, iD at 2018, has grown multi-fold, presented in over 21,000 stores, 17 cities and is planning to expand to 30 cities in next few years. A number of accolades in its hat like “Best food marketing idea 2016”, “Vocational excellence award 2016”, “Best packaging design award 2015” and many other appreciations, “iD Fresh Food” would be a great case study for the B-school students or students of other business management courses and would add value to the marketing or entrepreneurship literature. This case study specially examined the marketing strategies adopted by the company to establish itself in the cluttered RTC (Ready to cook) packaged food sector in an emerging market scenario. The issue of the case is to examine whether the company should diversify or continues its basic philosophy of serving natural preservative free packaged food items and how far the closely-knit management style is going to sustain its market leadership position in future.
