The Efficacy of Curcumin Mouthwash in Coconut Oil Solvent for Preventing Oral Mucositis in Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancer Patients Undergoing Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy 椰子油溶剂姜黄素漱口水预防局部晚期头颈癌同步放化疗患者口腔黏膜炎的疗效

Background: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of curcumin mouthwash in preventing and relieving CCRT-induced severe oral mucositis Methods: We conducted a blinded, randomized controlled trial in patients with head and neck cancer receiving definite CCRT with 3-weekly cisplatin. Eligible patients were randomly assigned to receive curcumin mouthwash (MW) or normal saline solution (NSS) MW. Results: Thirty patients were enrolled in this study. Ten patients in the curcumin MW group and 13 patients in the NSS MW group were analyzed. The incidence of severe oral mucositis (grade 3–4 defined by the WHO grading scale) was reduced in the curcumin MW group at weeks 4, 7, and 10. However, it was not statistically different. The severity of oral mucositis was significantly reduced in the curcumin MW group at week 4 (mean = 0.09 vs 0.32, p = 0.016). There was no significant toxicities or safety concerns for curcumin MW. Conclusions: The incidence and severity of oral mucositis trend to decreased in curcumin MW group compared with the NSS MW group. These results indicated the feasibility and acceptability for curcumin MW in locally advanced head and neck cancer patients undergoing CCRT

Metachronous Adrenal Metastasectomy In Treated Rectal Cancer: Case Report and Literature Review 异时性肾上腺转移切除术治疗直肠癌:病例报告及文献复习

Adrenal metastases are frequent in cancer patients. However, isolated adrenal lesions in colorectal disease are rare. In this report, we discuss the case of a young patient who was found to have an isolated adrenal lesion few months after primary diagnosis of rectal cancer. A rectal mass biopsy at presentation was consistent with moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. Pre-operative staging was negative for distant metastases. The patient was treated with concurrent long course neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by laparoscopic abdomino-peritoneal resection. Final pathology was ypT3N1cM0. Patient refused any further chemotherapy in the adjuvant setting. Patient was kept on follow up and PET scan in September 2019 showed an FDG avid lesion in the left adrenal gland- suspicious for metastases. In January 2022, he underwent laparoscopic left adrenalectomy and histopathology came as metastatic moderate to poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma in keeping with colorectal primary. Post metastasectomy, he received 12 cycles of pseudo adjuvant FOLFOX till 6/09/2022. Since then, patient is on regular follow up and the last PET in October 2022 was negative for recurrence of disease.

The most common cancer in the United States is breast malignancy, where one in eight women is diagnosed with invasive breast cancer at some point in her life [1]. The diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer are in constant evolution, where attempts at early diagnosis and individualized treatment are indicated in order to increase survival [1]. This article will be written from the perspective of Hippocrates (460 BCE - 375 BCE), the father of medicine, who says that “we should use older medicines before current medical practice” [2, 3]. Therefore, I will use the teachings of traditional Chinese medicine that have existed for over five thousand years to explain this matter [3].

Which Could Be the Risk Factors for Developing Cancer After Receiving The COVID-19 Vaccine? 哪些可能是接种COVID-19疫苗后患癌症的危险因素?

There are several articles in the literature after the COVID-19 pandemic showing the necessity of vaccinating people who have a cancer diagnosis to prevent this disease in this group of patients. But what I want to report in this article is that I am facing an increasing number of cases of patients with cancer after receiving COVID-19 vaccines and this is what I want to describe in this study, using the thoughts of Hippocrates (460 bce - 375 bce), the father of medicine, that said that “it is more important to consider other ancient medical traditions prior to the knowledge we have nowadays”. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that there are cases of patients with cancer diagnosed after receiving two, three or four doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and I will describe which are the risk factors that these patients are having in the energy level that could induce more propensity to have cancer when using this kind of vaccine. Methods: Five case reports of 71,40,76, 55, and 75 years old with diagnoses of colon cancer, breast cancer, skin cancer, and gastric cancer in the last two patients respectively days and months after receiving the second, third and fourth doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Results: The five patients had in common an energy deficiency inside the five internal massive organs (Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lungs, and Kidney) according to the Five Elements theory of traditional Chinese medicine. According to this theory, all disease comes from the energy alterations between these five organs and cancer comes from energy deficiency inside these organs and the formation of internal Fire. The use of any kind of highly concentrated medication or highly concentrated vaccine would reduce even more these energies, according to Arndt-Schultz-Law, created in 1888 by two German researchers, and could reduce this vital energy, which was proven very low in all these patients reported, increasing the chance to have cancer. The conclusion of this study is that patients that are developing cancer after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine have in common, energy deficiency inside the five internal massive organs (and these alterations are the factors to induce cancer formation according to traditional Chinese medicine) and the use of this kind of vaccine has the potential to reduce even more the vital energy of the patient which is already very low and leading to a weakness state of the immune system and increasing the chance to have any kind of chronic diseases, in this case, cancer

The neuropeptide Adrenomedullin Promoted the Progression of Head and Neck Squamous Carcinoma by Negatively Regulating Tumour Immunity 神经肽肾上腺髓质素通过负性调节肿瘤免疫促进头颈部鳞状癌的进展

Objective: To investigate the putative regulatory mechanisms and functions of the neuropeptide gene adrenomedullin (ADM) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC). Methods: Publicly available data from the TCGA-HNSC database were utilized to explore the involvement of ADM single gene in HNSC by analyzing RNA expression levels of ADM. The involvement of ADM in tumor immunity was particularly investigated from the aspect of tumor-infiltrating immune cells, immune modulator genes, immune checkpoint genes, Estimate-Immune-Stromal score, and immune clusters’ prognostic values. Statistical analysis of the data pertaining to cancer and non-cancerous samples was performed using R software packages. Many web servers were used in the present analyses, including cBioportal, TIMER, STRING, GeneMANIA, and GEPIA. Results: ADM was found to be significantly upregulated in HNSC tumor samples and associated with worse prognostic outcomes. ADM-significantly correlated genes in HNSC were enriched in several tumor promoting pathways, including cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, HIF-1 signaling, MAPK signaling, chemokine signaling, AGE-RAGE signaling, Relaxin signaling, viral protein interaction with cytokine and cytokine receptor, and NF-kappa B signaling. ADM is involved in tumor immunity of HNSC by being negatively correlated with several tumor-infiltrating immune cells, including tumor macrophages, T cells, B cells, Treg cells, T helper cells, Th17 cells, NK cells, mast cells, and dendritic cells. The negative correlation was observed between ADM expression and the majority of immunomodulator genes. ADM was also found to be negatively correlated with the Estimate-Stromal-Immune score in HNSC, indicating its involvement in the tumor immune microenvironment. Conclusions: ADM gene may play a significant role in promoting the progression of HNSC by negatively regulating immune cells, mediating cytokine and chemokine signaling, HIF-1 signaling, MAPK signaling, and NF-kappa B signaling. Therefore ADM can be regarded as a valuable candidate biomarker and holds promising prospects in treating head and neck cancer.

Methods: Publicly available data from the TCGA-HNSC database were utilized to explore the involvement of ADM single gene in HNSC by analyzing RNA expression levels of ADM. The involvement of ADM in tumor immunity was particularly investigated from the aspect of tumor-infiltrating immune cells, immune modulator genes, immune checkpoint genes, Estimate-Immune-Stromal score, and immune clusters’ prognostic values. Statistical analysis of the data pertaining to cancer and non-cancerous samples was performed using R software packages. Many web servers were used in the present analyses, including cBioportal, TIMER, STRING, GeneMANIA, and GEPIA. Results: ADM was found to be significantly upregulated in HNSC tumor samples and associated with worse prognostic outcomes. ADM-significantly correlated genes in HNSC were enriched in several tumor promoting pathways, including cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, HIF-1 signaling, MAPK signaling, chemokine signaling, AGE-RAGE signaling, Relaxin signaling, viral protein interaction with cytokine and cytokine receptor, and NF-kappa B signaling. ADM is involved in tumor immunity of HNSC by being negatively correlated with several tumor-infiltrating immune cells, including tumor macrophages, T cells, B cells, Treg cells, T helper cells, Th17 cells, NK cells, mast cells, and dendritic cells. The negative correlation was observed between ADM expression and the majority of immunomodulator genes. ADM was also found to be negatively correlated with the Estimate-Stromal-Immune score in HNSC, indicating its involvement in the tumor immune microenvironment. Determination of radon concentration level and its progenies in breast cancer using Cr-39 NTD cr - 39ntd测定乳腺癌氡浓度及其子体

Background: Alpha particle is massive and causes a great lot of ionization when it gets into contact with a body or ingested, and causes single strand and double strand DNA breaks. Two of the alpha emitting decay products, namely 218Po, 214Po, deliver the majority of the radiogenic dose and have been identified as the primary cause of radon-induced cancer. Objectives: This study aims to measure the concentration of radon in powdered blood samples of human have problem with breast cancer in Kurdistan Iraqi region Methods: This study was carried out to detect and measure the concentration of radon in powdered blood samples from the human have problem with breast cancer in Kurdistan Iraqi region from (Sulaymania and Erbil) by using CR-39 NTD (passive method). Results: The activity concentrations of radon of blood human suffer breast cancer ranged from highest value (27.832) Bq.m-3 in (CP3- Taslwja town) to lowest value (13.961) Bq.m-3 in (CP4- Barda qaraman town) with average value of activity concentrations of radon (24.076) Bq.m-3 in Sulamania governorate (Hewa center for cancer). Also the results showed that the activity concentrations of radon ranged from highest value (39.591) Bq.m-3 in (CP73- Taqtaq town) to lowest value (10.251) Bq.m-3 in (CP74- Kasnazan town) with average value of activity concentrations of radon (22.045) Bq.m-3 in Erbil governorate (Nana kaly center for cancer). The results showed that the radon concentration in powdered blood samples were lower than the global permissibility limiting of exposure to radon 200 Bq.m−3. Conclusions: The variation in concentrations of radon in different locations may be arisen due to the difference in the nature of blood samples and nuclei content in this samples, also depending on the allergic reaction of the body to radiation. The issues in this research are very important in strengthening the link between radon, radon progeny, and blood for human have problem with cancer in Kurdistan Iraqi region

When I started my studies in traditional Chinese medicine in Brazil in 1997, I started first with studies in acupuncture and then went deeper into other techniques of Chinese medicine such as Chinese herbal therapy and Chinese diet therapy. [1] These teachings of Chinese medicine fascinated me because everything is integrated, and they also considered the influences of the external pathogenic factors (that includes Wind, Cold, Heat, Humidity, and Dryness) contrary to Western medicine, where you can see that everything is separated by specialties and nothing is integrated like in Chinese medicine [2, 3].

All humans and many other species get cancer. It happens daily. The body’s cells replicate on average every six weeks. With billions of cells, some of the new cells fail to be exact copies of the previous cells. The new ones are different and are mutations that we call cancer. Survival of the species depends on removing the wrong cells and this is done by the immune system at night during proper sleep.
