Objective: To explain the management of the central diastema case in a patient with high- frenulum labialis. Methods: Using a conventional Orthodontic appliance MBT system. This method is selected to orthodontically corrected central diastema while eliminating deep bites and other existing malposition in this case. Results: Central diastema and deep bite corrected, as well as other malposition. However, the frenulum labialis which was planned to undergone frenectomy was postponed to avoid an open gingival embrasure (black triangle). Conclusion: Correction of central diastema done by using a conventional orthodontic appliance MBT system. However, the disposal of frenulum labialis should not always be done, because it should consider the possibility of the emergence of gingival embrasure (black triangle) after the Labialis frenulum was discarded.

Objective: This case report is to describe the management of bilateral impacted canine due to the persistence of deciduous teeth with surgical procedures and retraction with orthodontic tools. Methods: Orthodontic treatment used a Straight Wire system with a 0.22 bracket slot. It began with the use of Niti 0.14 for the correction of anterior teeth crowding. Teeth 53 and 63 extraction were performed and continued with Niti 0.18 wire to correct crowding and obtain sufficient eruption spaces for teeth 13 and 23. The surgery used an open window procedure with a full-thickness triangular flap to open the canine crown, bracket placement, and canine retraction using an elastomeric chain. Results: Within five months, the crowding was corrected, and enough space was obtained for the canine eruption, and within three months, the canine had reached the occlusal plane perfectly. Conclusion: Bilateral impacted canines can be treated with a combination of surgical procedure and retraction with orthodontic treatment to achieve optimum occlusion and aesthetic function.

Objective: To evaluate the microhardness and porosity of the dentin of Wistar rats after pulp-out application. Materials and Methods: This was laboratory experimental research with posttest design with control group. Twelve teeth of wistar rats were allocated into 2 groups, the test group and the control group. In the test group, teeth were prepared on the labial surface until half thickness of the dentin, then pulpout was applied to the base of cavity, covered with GIC. On the 7th day, euthanasia and extraction were performed to test the dentin microhardness with Vickers Hardness Tester and dentin porosity with Laser Scanning Microscope (LSM). Results: The mean value of tooth hardness after pulp-out application was 22.23 ± 3.51 HV while the mean value of the control group was 27.70 ± 1.70 HV, with p value = 0.31 at 95% significance level. There was a decrease in tooth hardness of treated sample which was not significantly different compared to the control group. CLSM photo shows white lines on the sample surface as the exposed dentinal tubules with a higher intensity compared to the control group. Conclusion: Pulp-out decreased tooth microhardness and cause porosity of the teeth.

bjective: The purpose of this study was to determine the exact values of MBC (Minimum Bactericidal Concentration) and MIC (Minimum Inhibitory Concentration) of beluntas leaf extract against Streptococcus mutans colonies. Material and Methood: This study used Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175 and ethanol extract of beluntas leaves with concentrations: 250 g/ml, 125 g/ml, 62.5 g/ml, 31.3 g/ml, 15.6 g/ml, 7.8 g /ml, 3.9 g/ml and 1.95μg/ml. This study used two methods, Broth Microdilution and Total Plate Count techniques as the designated method for the purpose of counting bacteria. Furthermore, the data analysis test was carried out to analyze normality using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. If the data distribution shows normal, then one way ANOVA parametric test is performed to determine the significance between the beluntas leaf extract and the number of streptococcus mutans bacteria, which will then be further examined using the Post-Hoc Test with the Tuckey method to find out which dataset is the most significantly different in among others. Results: The beluntas leaf extract showed significant bacterial properties against Streptococcus mutans (P-Value = 0.00) which was expressed through definite MBC and MIC values. The results showed that the MIC and MBC values were 62.5 g/ml and 125 g/ml, respectively against Streptococcus mutans colonies. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study was that the ethanol extract of the leaves of beluntas (Pluchea Indica L) showed antibacterial properties as indicated by the MIC value at a concentration of 62.5μg/ml and the MBC at a concentration of 125μg/ml against streptococcus mutans.

Objective:  Poor denture hygiene could be a risk factor for denture stomatitis. Tobacco leaves (Nicotiana tabacum L.) can be used as a base for denture cleaning because tobacco leaves contain ingredients that are antibacterial and antifungal. Is there any effect of tobacco leaf extract (Nicotiana tabacum L.) effervescent tablets with a concentration of 25%, 50%, 75%, as an acrylic resin denture cleaner on the growth of C albicans and an effective concentration in the formulation of tobacco leaf extract effervescent tablets as a acrylic resin denture cleaner against the growth of C.albicans Material and Methods: The type of this research is a laboratory experimental study with a randomized posttest only control group design. The samples were divided into 5 sample groups, namely: acrylic plate immersed in Effervescent tablet of tobacco leaf extract with a concentration of 25%, 50%, 75% for 30 minutes, acrylic plate for the commercially sold effervescent tablet for 20 minutes and acrylic plate immersed in distilled water for 30 minutes. The acrylic resin plate contaminated with C.albicans was then measured using a spectrometer to see the turbidity. Then the data analyzed using one way ANOVA. Result: There were significant differences in all groups, except for the effervescent tablets of tobacco leaf extract (nicotiana tabacum L.) with 75% concentration and commercially sold denture cleanser effervescent tablets which was .473. There was no significant difference. Conclusion: Effervescent tablets of Tobacco leaf (Nicotiana tabacum L.) are 75% effective in inhibiting C.albicans with immersion time of 30 minutes.

Objective: We report a rare case of salivary duct carcinoma possibly arising from the malignant component of carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma. Methods: A 56-year-old Japanese male complained of swelling in the left side of jaw for 2 years which was painless until 2 days ago. On extraoral examination, the face was bilaterally asymmetrical. An ultrasonography revealed hypoechoic mass of size 1.5x2.5x2.5 cm on left parotid gland. Computed tomography (CT) revealed a slight irregular mass on left parotid gland with no infiltration to adjacent tissues. Based on these findings, a clinical diagnosis of left parotid benign tumor was made. Results: A surgical excision was performed under general anesthesia. On histopathological examination, the connective tissue was rich in fibrous components and was accompanied by hyaline. Epithelial cells with high atypia proliferating invasively as cords into connective tissue were observed. The intraductal component had Roman-bridge-like architecture with central portion undergoing comedonecrosis. Based on these findings, a final diagnosis of salivary duct carcinoma possibly arising from pleomorphic adenoma was made. p16 hypermethylation is a known phenomenon in oral malignancy. We also checked the methylation status of p16 gene and found high level of methylation in this tumor. Conclusion: We reported a rare case of salivary duct carcinoma possibly arising from pleomorphic adenoma and also demonstrated high methylation level of p16 gene in the tumor.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of patient satisfaction after orthognathic surgery and the correlation between the patient satisfaction level after orthognathic surgery and the results of the cephalometric skeletal analysis.  Material and Methods: This study were patients who had orthognathic surgery either BSSO, Osteotomy Le Fort 1, or Double Jaw Surgery. First, the subjects filled out a questionnaire about patient satisfaction after orthognathic surgery, the second was taking cephalometric radiographs which were then analyzed by the Steiner method by measuring the angles of SNA, SNB, ANB, and GoGN-SN. Results: The results of the study on 10 research subjects showed that all questionnaire scores were in the "satisfied" category. Cephalometric skeletal analysis of all cephalograms showed 50% normal SNA angle, 10% normal SNB angle, 80% normal ANB angle, and 90% normal GoGN-SN angle. The Concordal Kendall test results show the correlation coefficient value of 0.534 or 53.4%. Conclusion: On average, patients are very satisfied with the orthognathic surgery they have undergone. There is a correlation between the level of patient satisfaction after orthognathic surgery and the results of the cephalometric skeletal analysis.
