Objective: This paper was aimed at examining the positive results of iliac bone graft osteogenesis and osteointegration following the local application of bisphosphonate in mandibular reconstruction. Methods: A 22-years-old female patient came with a complaint of pain-free right cheek mass that has enlarged slowly since 2 years. Radiographic examination shows cloudy radiolucent images in the right mandibular corpus to the right mandibular ramus, while histopathological examination indicates ossifying fibroma. Patient underwent mandibular resection followed by iliac bone graftbased mandibular reconstruction. Bone graft was immersed with bisphosphonate (zoledronate acid 0.005 mg /ml) for 3 minutes, then rinsed with saline in 3 minutes, followed by fixing bone graft on the reconstruction plate. Results: Postoperative follow up in the 36th week showed no signs of infection and dehiscence in the surgery site, and the radiographic examination indicated signs of osteogenesis and osteointegration of mandibular bone graft. Conclusion: Local application of biphosponate on bone graft promotes the favorable results of osteogenesis and osteointegration in mandibular reconstruction.

The purpose of writing this case report and literature review is to discuss the management of therapy in COVID-19 patients with odontogenic abscess in the maxillofacial area. Method: A 65-year-old male patient came to the Ibnu Sina Makassar Hospital complaining of swelling of the right submandibular blood extending to the buccal sublingual submental and temporal. Patient was in a limp condition shortness of breath (dyspnea) coughing difficulty opening his mouth, difficulty eating, and swallowing with pulse 121 times/minute breathing 32 times/minute and oxygen saturation of 94% (simple mask of 5 lpm). Patient was diagnosed with the right submandibular abscess extending to the right buccal right temporal right and left sublingual and submental with sepsis due to gangrene of tooth root 46. Surgical incision and drainage of the abscess was performed under general anesthesia. Results: Incision and drainage of the abscess in the patient was carried out even with the suspicion that the patient was indicated as having been exposed to COVID-19 by following the principle of preventing COVID-19 infection. Conclusion: Surgical preparation appropriate therapeutic management and proper use of PPE will help provide the best service to patients while protecting medical personnel in the current COVID-19 pandemic era.

Objective: Clicking, popping, and crepitation is the most common symptom of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD). TMD can be caused by tooth loss, and tooth loss is widespread among the elderly. Material and Methods: This research is using a correlational analysis with a crosssectional study approach. Tooth loss was divided into six regions (R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6) and joint sounds were divided into four categories (clicking, popping, crepitation, normal). Result: Multinomial logistic regression analysis test for overall tooth loss showed a p-value of 0.000 in clicking and crepitation, and for popping, it has a p-value of 0.248. The results of tests on six regions of tooth loss obtained a p-value of 0.017 at R1 for clicking sound and p-value of 0.014 at R2 for crepitation. This showed that clicking and crepitation had a significant correlation with the amount of tooth loss (p<0.05). Conclusion: The amount of tooth loss has a significant relationship with clicking and crepitation of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ).

Objective: Osteoradionecrosis (ORN) is a severe and devastating late complication of radiotherapy in patients with head and neck cancer, especially in the mandible. Methods: We report a case of a 47yearold woman who suffering from osteoradionecrosis and bone exposure 5 years after irradiation therapy for Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) of the tounge. Segmented resection of the mandible was performed followed with reconstruction using plate. Results: ORN can cause pathological fracture of the mandible and should be treat with surgical approach Conclusion: ORN affects the mandible more often than the maxilla or any other bones of head and neck, since it has high density and low blood vasculature so can cause pathological fracture of the mandible. Preventive measures must be evaluated to reducing the risk or severity

Material and Methods: This was an experimental study with post-test only control group design approach. Purposive technique is applied to collect samples which are lower molar extraction forceps. In this study, sample were divided into 2 groups and each consisting of 18instruments soaked in Glutaraldehyde 2% and Hydrogen Peroxide 3%. Each instrumentwere pre-cleaned using brush, water and soap for both group before going through disinfection process. Results: Statistically analyzed using Mann-Whitney Test. The comparison between Glutaraldehyde 2% and Hydrogen Peroxide 3%showedno significant difference to the total bacteria count on instrument after disinfection (p=0.014 <0.05). Conclusion: Glutaraldehyde 2% showed more effective than Hydrogen Peroxide 3% in disinfecting lower molar extraction forceps.
