Neonatal Brachial Plexus Paralysis (PPBN) is defined as a brachial plexus traction or compression injury resulting from dystocic delivery. The incidence of PPBN varies from 0.42 to 5.1% per 1000 births. The lesion occurs in the expulsive period of childbirth, is most often associated with shoulder dystocia, gestational or pre-gestational diabetes and macrosomic fetuses. The lesion resulting from C5-C6 root involvement is the most frequent, affecting around 50 to 60% of the cases, and 80% of these patients have spontaneous recovery. However, around 20 to 30% of patients may develop persistent deficits, with permanent impacts on upper limb function, compromising the child's development; leading to repercussions for their families and for the health system. PPBN is usually diagnosed by clinical examination and usually does not require imaging studies. Initial treatment is conservative based on functional rehabilitation through physical therapy. Sequential physical examination will indicate patients with no recovery of shoulder movement between 3 and 6 months, who may benefit from surgical treatment. The prognosis of PPBN depends on the level (pre- or postganglionic), the extent, severity of the lesion, the speed of recovery and the quality of initial clinical management. Keywords : Obstetric Paralysis, Brachial plexus, Neonatal

Case Report: The authors report a case of primary cutaneous blastomycosis in Brazil, with characteristics that mimic ganglion tuberculosis. The diagnosis was confirmed by biopsy and histopathology. Conclusion: Cutaneous blastomycosis is clinically similar to ganglion tuberculosis, thus being an important differential diagnosis. Thus, knowing the characteristics and particularities of the disease, as well as its epidemiology, are important factors in the diagnosis of the disease.

To Brazil, one of the biggest challenges is verbal communication to Haitian and Ghanaian immigrants, as most of them don’t speak the language of the immigrant region. Realizing the difficulty in communication and guidance within Public Health, a trilingual information poster was created to serve as a technology for access to these users and to facilitate the work of health professionals in prenatal care. The poster was produced through the performance of the Multiprofessional Residency in Public Health, of the Postgraduate Program in Public Health (PPGSCOL) present at the University of Santa Catarina (UNESC).

Cardiovascular insufficiency (HF) has been shown to cause morbidity and mortality in several countries, among other aspects, due to changes in habits and lifestyle, leading to an increase in life expectancy. It is considered a major public health problem given the high prevalence in the adult population, especially in the age group above 65 years. The present study discusses the predictors of HF, based on an integrative review of four studies on the subject. The results showed that, among the risk factors that most tend to imply the onset of HF, are systemic arterial hypertension, diabetes, coronary artery disease, obesity, dyslipidemia, and other factors such as smoking, gender and age. Keywords : heart failure, public health, adult population.

Neuroscience is a field of science that studies the central nervous system (CNS) as well as its relations with the human body. It is intricately implicated in the different fields of knowledge, directly interfering in linguistics, the arts, medicine, among others. Neuropsychology, in turn, deals with the study of the relationship between cognition, behavior and CNS activities, both under normal and pathological conditions. This study aims to discuss aspects of neuroscience in order to clarify aspects related to how the brain learns and how it behaves in the learning process, so that the quality of pedagogical intervention can be reached. Keywords: Neuroeducation, Neuroscience, Learning.

: The elderly people are the group that most use psychotropic drugs, due to psychiatric comorbidity and somatic conditions. In Brazil some benzodiazepines are part of the National List of Essential Medicines (RENAME) being distributed free of charge, facilitating the population access, which can lead to irrational use. Methods: Cross-sectional, descriptive research through a qualitative and quantitative study of benzodiazepine use in patients attended at the Cedro Basic Pharmacy in the city of Cedro-PE. The data collection was done with the application of a semi-structured questionnaire. The pattern of benzodiazepine use has been described through patient-reported symptomatology, therapeutic adherence, medical specialty, dose increase without medical consultation, and adverse effects reported during the drug use. Results: There was a predominance of females (58.33%). The most commonly used benzodiazepine was diazepam (66.67%). The purchase of benzodiazepine without a prescription was reported by 16.67% of the elderly interviewed and an increase in the drug dose without doctor consulting by 25% of the interviewees. Final considerations: The prescription of these drugs for the elderly, as well as the chronic use, should consider the physiological changes caused by aging and the adverse effects of these drugs in order to guarantee a safe treatment. Keywords : Aged; Psychotropic drugs; Drug utilization.

Suicide is a huge public health problem, which needs more attention. One doctor commits suicide in the U.S. every day -- the highest suicide rate of any profession. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, physicians are at a higher risk than the general population for suicide. Methods: A Brief Communication that focus on the starkest sign of the crisis gripping medicine: the number of physicians who commit suicide every year. Include: discovery or development of new information’s, novelty in modeling scientific, elucidation of mechanisms editorials and channels of information. Results: The medical profession has proven to have one of the highest risks of death by suicide among professions. About 15-30% of students and residents screen positive for depression. Studies also show that 1 in 16 trainees report suicidal ideation. The researchers also suggest that psychiatry help is still a taboo among doctors. Limitations: As Short Communications are expected to have higher than average impact on the field rather than report on incremental research, they will receive prioritized and rapid publication. Conclusion: Strategies to reduce preventable deaths should include preventive and treatment service. We should all strive to help usher in a new era of medical culture that promotes sustainable medical careers. Excessive pressures and expectations at work, may entail to a loss of meaning of work and of self for physicians. Key-words: Suicide; Doctors; Medicine; Mental Health

Eduarda Monteiro Jovino; Marianna Leite Barroso; Ana Karoline de Oliveira Florêncio; Jucier Gonçalves Júnior Abstract: Congenital malformations constitute alterations in the structure, physiological functioning or metabolism of cells, tissues and / or organs, causing morphological, biochemical or behavioral defects produced during pregnancy. Approximately 20% of pregnancies with malformed fetuses end in spontaneous abortion and the remaining 80% will be born dead or alive, resulting in 3% to 5% of newborns with congenital anomalies. This study discusses aspects related to anencephaly and other critical issues surrounding this context. It was concluded that the right to life is fundamental, constituting a prerequisite for the existence and exercise of all other rights. Even so, there still seems to be bias in the legislation that enables parents of babies with this malformation to have legal recourse to abortion.
