Earthquakes cannot be prevented from occurring and earthquake prediction with accurate forecasting will still not be possible soon in the foreseeable future. However, techniques like studying the crustal deformation with geodetic applications through GPS can help to generate data towards future earthquake hazard assessment and to study the geodynamics of plate motions, the mechanisms of stress and strain building and piling inside the crust which could be potential for future earthquake occurrences. Results of slow and steady deformation are indicative of a seismic hazard, which also depends largely how the time elapsed since the previous earthquakes. The geological feature of Aizawl fault is deciphered, monitored and constrained with GPS to define the present day crustal deformation across Aizawl and also to understand the role that it plays in the geodynamics of the region.

Tourism Carrying Capacity was defined by the World Tourism Organization as the highest number of visitors that may visit a tourist spot at the same time, without causing damage of the natural, economic, environmental, cultural environment and no decline in the class of visitors' happiness. Carrying capacity is a concept that has been extensively applied in tourism and leisure studies since the 1960s, but its appearance can be date back to the 1930s. It may be viewed as an important thought in the eventual emergence of sustainability discussion, it has become less important in recent years as sustainability and its associated concepts have come to dominate planning on the management of tourism and its impacts. But the study of carrying capacity analysis is still an important tool to know the potentiality and future impact in tourism sector. Thus, up to some extent carrying capacity analysis is important study for tourist destinations and states like Mizoram. Mizoram is a small and young state with few thousands of visitors that visit the state every year. But with the existing facilities will it be okay for future planning is significant to study. Hence, this paper is an attempt to study the carrying capacity of Mizoram Tourism with some selected destinations.

Although a large number of metals are essential for growth, some can be harmful for living cells. This is because of the fact that heavy metals can form complexes with protein molecules which render them inactive. The experiment was designed to carry out the effect of heavy metal (copper) on phosphatase enzyme activity and biomass of Aspergillus niger. We have observed that CuSO4 had negative effect on the growth of Aspergillus niger, phosphatase activity and plant biomass. The effects of CuSO4 upon the growth of fungal mycelium both in solid and liquid culture was observed after 3 days of incubation. The study revealed that control attained the highest growth rate, while application of varying concentrations of CuSO4 hampered and retarded the growth of fungal mycelium correspondingly.

After the then Mizo Hills District was elevated to Union Territory status, Mizoram was allotted one seat in Lok Sabha. The territory witnessed the first Parliamentary elections since the Fifth Lok Sabha polls, held in 1972. Till 2019, Parliamentary elections were held thirteen times in Mizoram. This paper analyzed the 17th Lok Sabha election of Mizoram Parliamentary constituency and Aizawl West-I Assembly bye-poll held on April 11, 2019. Nomination of candidates, campaign strategy, polling and vote counting had been highlighted. Besides, some controversial issues happened during elections were also highlighted.

The present study is on social provision and self-esteem among adolescents with 100 adolescents (50 males and 50 females) from Aizawl town serving as participants. The study was carried out using two psychological test - The Self Esteem Scale and The Social Provision scale. The age of the subjects ranges from 13 to 17 years, from low to high socio-economic status. The result shows the tests to be reliable and significant gender difference was found in self-esteem but not on social provision. Lastly and unexpectedly, the result shows negative relationship between social provision and self-esteem.

Local government plays an integral part in the mechanism of Disaster Management in Mizoram. The local bodies are the direct representatives of the local community and the local community places their full trust in them. Post disaster measures such as mock drills, training of search and rescue teams, physical and economic relief and rehabilitation are not something new to us, yet the aspect of disaster mitigation is something which has not bred familiarity among the Mizos. The need for sensitization of the public on the importance of Disaster Mitigation is a necessity. The saying ‘Earthquakes do not kill people; buildings do’ is pertinent in urban areas. Urban areas are congested and more prone to disasters. High rise buildings, squatter settlements due to high densities and low availability of land has endangered not just the lives of the public but has also caused a massive disturbance of the ecological system. The paper covers certain Acts and Regulations of the Aizawl Municipal Corporation dealing with structural mitigation and the detection of illegal construction, unsafe buildings, and encroachments on municipal and public properties. At the local level, the councillors are involved in making, unmaking and carrying out these rules and regulations, with direct bearing on the local people. The paper also gives an account of the need of reimplementation to generate awareness, knowledge and education on Disaster Management to the people of Mizoram.

Sateek village is vulnerable to plenty of disasters such as earthquake, landslide, forest fire and disease outbreak. Some other features like poverty, remote area from the city, lack of hospital and other emergency services make the people of this village more vulnerable. The present study deals with the idea of community based disaster management (CBDM) and their risk assessment in Sateek village, which is located in Aibawk block of Aizawl District, Mizoram, India. The data used in this research include collection of primary data through interview, questionnaire and Secondary data. Landslide risk analysis was carried out in quantitative approach. The study seized disaster assessment, resource analysis, risk and vulnerable profile and response plan and interpretation in various disaster of Sateek village and how community based disaster management (CBDM) plan can help the people to cope with hazards.

Handloom weaving, known to the Mizos right from the historic ages plays an important role in the economic development of Mizoram. It contributes significantly in generating employment opportunities and sustaining livelihood to the weavers. In the present study, an analysis is done on the socio-economic profile of handloom weavers and problems of this industry in Zuangtui Handloom Cluster that lies at the outskirt of Aizawl City, Mizoram. This study is conducted on the basis of both primary and secondary data sources. It reveals that the condition of the weavers is weak due to financial constraints, health problem and poor Government support.

Northeast India is prone to major earthquake events due to its geographical and tectonic settings. Recurrence of the earthquakes in this part of India is frequent and associated with devastating events. Earthquake scenario in the region is very dangerous as the unplanned settlements with rise in population increased the vulnerability of human life. To understand such a risk and variability in human life and changes in natural dynamics; it is essential to know and study the past earthquake events. In northeast India, the last most devastating earthquake was the great Assam earthquake of 15th August 1950. This event brought different types of changes in the physiography which, results in havoc among the people. The changes in the river course, landslides, liquefaction and river bank changes are most influential factors in both human and natural arrangements. This brought devastation in human lives that resulted into several unsettled socio-economic issues. After the earthquake, Government and people tried together to overcome such trauma, although lack of preparedness caused some problems. This is the time to review all the scenario of major earthquakes in northeast India and realise that the necessity of preparedness is very important. The paper attempts to review the impact of the earthquake on different spheres: geographical, social and economic.

None of the countries in the world is ‘corruption free country’. Despite the efforts of every country to curb the menace of corruption, the affected countries failed to contain corruption to the level of zero. It becomes a serious threat and challenge to most democratic countries of the world. At present civil societies which bridge the gap between the society and the government come to the forefront to fight against this menace. In Mizoram; for more than a decade, People’s Right to Information and Development Implementing Society of Mizoram (PRISM) involved in fighting against corruption. However, after a prolonged campaign against corruption, the society has turned itself to be a political party on November 3, 2017 and contested election for the Assembly seats in 2018 and also contested an election for a lone seat of Member of Parliament from Mizoram in the lower house of the Parliament in 2019. The name of the erstwhile society was rechristened as ‘People’s Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram’ and retained the abbreviated form PRISM. Efficiency in governance, changing the political system and corruption free society are the main objectives of PRISM.
