A novel automatic low cost cutting machine-cum-3D printer using an image processing based control 一种新型的低成本自动切割机-基于图像处理控制的3d打印机

Over the past 5 years, there has been a tremendous rise in designing various prototypes for a 3D printer. While most of them concentrate on accuracy and speed, the cost has always been a concerning factor. In this paper, we present a novel cost effective setup which could be used for both the X and Y axis motion, which is required for either a 3D printer or a cutting machine which is widely used in any industry. The paper also concentrates on creating a CAD tool independent interface with inputs to the setup being given purely based on images drawn. This simplifies the process with the user not needing to have any computer knowledge at all. All image processing algorithms were designed and developed using Simulink - a part of MATLAB 2011b and controls to the setup were given using an Arduino Uno (ATmega328) Rev. 3 board, in turn creating a perfect embedded system setup.

Detection of epileptic seizure in EEG signals using window width optimized S-transform and artificial neural networks 基于窗宽优化s变换和人工神经网络的脑电信号癫痫发作检测

The occurrence of epileptic seizure in EEG segment is a nonstationary process. As the nonstationary EEG signal contains multiple frequencies, the conventional frequency based methods cannot be used for their analysis. In this paper, we propose window width optimized S-transform based method for epileptic seizure detection and compare its performance with standard S-transform and Short time Fourier transform (STFT) based detection methods. The detection of epileptic seizure is performed in five stages - (i) Optimization of S-transform, (ii) Time-frequency representation of EEG segments using window width optimization of S-transform, (iii) Calculation of Power spectrum density (PSD), (iv) Feature extraction, and (v) Classification of seizure containing EEG segment using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The performance of proposed method has been evaluated for three classification problems along with a comparison with other time-frequency methods.

Dual polarized triple band 4×4 MIMO antenna with novel mutual coupling reduction approach 双极化三频带4×4新型互耦减小方法MIMO天线

A 4-port Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna with tri-band frequency operation covering GSM (IEEE-802.21), WiMAX (IEEE-802.16) and WLAN (IEEE-802.11n) bands for modern wireless broadband communication applications has been designed and investigated. Proposed MIMO antenna has linearly polarized (LP) GSM band and circularly polarized (CP) WiMAX, WLAN bands poses ≤ 3dB axial ratios (AR), demonstrating dual polarized operations amongst existing three bands. Proposed 4×4 MIMO antenna attains reflection coefficient magnitudes S11, S22, S33, S44 ≤ -10dB at mentioned three bands. The proposed antenna is fabricated on a low cost FR4 substrate and has total geometry of 165×165 mm2. Presented antenna accomplishes 96 MHz axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) at WiMAX and 201 MHz at WLAN band. With novel mutual coupling reduction approach of integrated parasitic strips and inverted ground plane structure a highest isolation of S21, S31, S41, ≤ -45dB has been achieved. Deployment of inversions in ground planes does not affect the intended polarization properties when numbers of antenna elements are increased for MIMO applications.

Maze solving robot using image processing 利用图像处理机器人解迷宫

Maze solving problem involves determining the path of a mobile robot from its initial position to its destination while traversing through environment consisting of obstacles. In addition, the robot must follow the best possible path among various possible paths present in the maze. Applications of such autonomous vehicles range from simple tasks like robots employed in industries to carry goods through factories, office buildings and other workspaces to dangerous or difficult to reach areas like bomb sniffing, finding humans in wreckage, etc. Existing robots employed in labyrinth problems use long process of training and are incapable of adjusting to dynamic environments. The method proposed here involves image processing and path finding algorithm; which works faster because of beforehand acquiring the maze's data rather than going through the maze cell by cell. The entire maze is captured to determine the possible paths and using Direction Envelope Algorithm for finding the best route. This approach gives robot a prognosis and avoids being trapped or falling in loops.

A very compact bandnotched UWB monopole antenna for wireless communication 一个非常紧凑的带槽超宽带单极天线,用于无线通信

In this paper a very compact, ultrawideband (UWB) antenna with Wi-MAX band notched characteristics is presented. The antenna is operating from 3.1-14GHz frequency band for VSWR ≤ 2 and provides notched band characteristics from 3.3-3.7GHz. A notched band characteristic is realized by strategically adding two quarter wavelength parasitic element at the edges of radiating patch. The simulated results of the prototype antenna are obtained using CAD FEKO software. A prototype occupies a compact area of 28 ×17 × 1.6 mm3. Antenna is fabricated on low cost FR4 substrate and fed by 50Ω microstrip line. Simulated results are in good agreement with the measured results.

Empirical analysis and performance evaluation of a generic re-linking technique for robust route maintenance 一种通用重链接鲁棒路由维护技术的实证分析与性能评价

Establishing and maintaining a route is a challenge in the design of resource constrained Wireless Sensor Networks. The paper investigates and evaluates a robust generic re-linking technique that aims to enhance route maintenance. Although the use of node residual energy has been exploited in routing protocols, the re-linking techniques for route maintenance need to be researched further. We opine that if data can be re-linked prior to the termination of an existing route on the onset of death of a node, data and energy loss can be reduced. The re-linking technique is fast in response and ensures minimal route disturbance. This eliminates the need to establish a new route from the source to the destination. Incorporation of the re-linking technique in existing routing protocol AODV demonstrates an improvement of 10.18% in packet delivery ratio. Experimental analysis indicates a 15% reduction in data loss and 83.23% decrease in latency.

Thermal imaging based condition based monitoring on Android platform 基于Android平台的热成像状态监测

The use of thermal images for condition based monitoring is becoming very popular in industries. This paper presents a simple approach for condition based monitoring of machines using thermal Images on Android Platform. This approach is non-contact, fast and precise for CBM of rotating and non-rotating machines. The proposed approach has been successfully implemented on Android smartphone for CBM of prototype machine. The application uses standard OpenCV library functions to implement processing logic. For this the temperature profile of overall machine from different views was captured and analyzed using thermal images. Regression model was developed to find relation between local temperature and pixel intensity which helped in recognizing the condition of prototype machine.

Design and simulation of Koch Snowflake fractal antenna for GPS, WiMAX and radar application GPS、WiMAX和雷达用科赫雪花分形天线的设计与仿真

This paper represents, design and simulation of micro strip patch antenna having Koch Snowflake Geometry. The antenna has been designed by increasing the perimeters of triangular shape patch by using self-similarity property. The multiband nature is obtained, by designing antenna up to second iteration. The designed antenna operates in four frequency bands for different applications. First frequency band is 1.41GHz-1.65GHz which covers the GPS operating band, second band is 3.41GHz-3.81GHz & third is 5.41GHz-5.80GHz both band covers the WiMAX operating range, 7.75GHz-8.13GHz is the last band which covers the X-band. X-band is used in radar application. The antenna is designed and simulated using CAD FEKO electromagnetic simulation software. The designed antenna is fed by a 50-Ω co-axial line and fabricated on a low-cost FR4 substrate having dimension 80(L) × 80(W) × 1.6(h) mm3 with εr =4.4 and tanδ= 0.025. This antenna shows acceptable gain with directional radiation patterns in the frequency bands for wireless applications.

A high speed algorithm for identifying hand gestures for an ATM input system for the blind 一种用于识别盲人ATM输入系统手势的高速算法

With the evolution in science and technology, a lot has been done over the past few years to make the lives of the differently-abled more comfortable and easy. This paper concentrates on a novel methodology to ease the use of an ATM machine for the blind. It describes an approach wherein both the username and PIN for the ATM machine can be input using British Sign Language. A cost effective setup and also a high speed algorithm for hand gesture recognition has been elaborated. In comparison with previous algorithms, the method explained in this paper is 1.65 times faster thus proving its efficacy and efficiency. All algorithms were first designed and developed in MATLAB 2011b and then later deployed as software using the Java programming language.

A design of integrated GSM and Bluetooth ultra wide band printed monopole antenna (UWB) for wireless applications 用于无线应用的集成GSM和蓝牙超宽带印刷单极天线(UWB)的设计

A compact microstrip feed triple band circular monopole antenna operating over GSM (1.78-1.82 GHz), Bluetooth (2.4-2.48 GHz) and Ultra wideband (UWB: 3.1-10.6GHz) frequency bands is designed and investigated for wireless applications. The UWB frequency operation is achieved by a modified circular radiating monopole with destructive ground plane. Further, by slotting the central portion of the radiating patch and then etching a half wavelength circular arc from the radiating patch a dual band frequency operation over Bluetooth and UWB band is achieved. The triple band frequency operation is realized by embedding quarter wavelength parasitic element/strip resonating at 1.8 GHz placed at the slotted central position in the radiating patch. The proposed antenna is simulated using electromagnetic simulation software CAD FEKO suite (6.3). The proposed antenna is realized on FR-4 dielectric substrate having a dielectric constant of 4.4 and loss tangent of 0.02. The antenna covers the three bands of operation i.e. GSM (1800MHz), Bluetooth (2.4-2.48GHz) and UWB (3.1-10.6 GHz) with reflection coefficient <; -10dB. The antenna also exhibits stable radiation patterns for the entire UWB & aforementioned integrated lower frequency bands.
