Research aims: This study evaluates articles dealing with environmental cost accounting to learn a valuable lesson. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study used the review procedure by Hoque (2014) with several analyzes employed in the prior research by Anggraini et al. (2022). Articles were then reviewed and identified by entering the keywords "environmental" AND "cost" AND "accounting" in the Scopus database. After applying several criteria, this study utilized 45 articles for further analysis.Research findings: Four discussion themes can be further identified. The four topics discussed in this article included environmental cost accounting measurement, implementation, environmental performance, and environmental cost accounting disclosures.Theoretical contribution/Originality: Given the importance of environmental cost accounting applied in companies, to the best of the author's knowledge, there has been no literature review research on environmental cost accounting. Furthermore, this research explains what lessons can be drawn.

Research aims: This study aims to investigate the effect of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance on foreign investment through corporate reputation.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study’s population was all non-financial companies listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2015 to 2019. Moreover, the hypotheses testing technique used was Two-Stage Least Square (2SLS), with 150 observations distributed in balanced panel data. In addition, additional analysis was conducted to examine how each company paid attention to ESG practices based on its industry classification through descriptive statistical analysis.Research findings: The regression results revealed that companies with good ESG performance tended to have a high level of foreign investment. However, it could not be explained by the corporate reputation. In an additional test, this study documented that the mining industry had a much better ESG performance than other industrial groups.Theoretical contribution/Originality: This study pays attention to foreign investment through trading domestic equity shares, whereas previous studies only focused on ESG practices in the FDI process. In addition, this study examined corporate reputation in explaining the relationship.Practitioner/Policy implication: The research results can be used by standard setters in developing sustainability disclosure standards in Indonesia, which International Sustainability Standards Board is currently initiating.Research limitation/Implication: The weakness in this study is the small number of samples employed in the test due to the minimal availability of ESG data in the database.

Research aims: This study aims to analyze the effect of audit findings and audit recommendation follow-up on the quality of public services through the quality of financial reports.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study employed cross-sectional regression using data from 170 observations of 34 ministries and institutions in Indonesia for the 2015-2019 period by adopting a purposive sampling method. Hypotheses testing was performed using binary logistic regression analysis, multiple linear regression, and path analysis.Research findings: The results showcased that the audit findings negatively impacted the quality of financial reports, while audit recommendation follow-up did not affect the quality of financial reports. The audit findings also did not influence the quality of public services, while audit recommendation follow-up led to better public services.Practical and Theoretical contribution/Originality: Central government institutions are expected to improve the effectiveness of the internal control system and compliance with laws and regulations in managing state finances to create more quality and reliable financial information. These institutions are also encouraged to overcome non-tax revenue irregularities to promote good governance in public service. The study provides empirical evidence regarding the determinants of public service quality by developing new measurements associated with the characteristic of non-tax revenue imposed by the line ministries and agencies.Research limitation: Future research is needed to develop the quality of public service indicators with other indicators and consider using primary data through a questionnaire survey to measure the quality of public services.

Research aims: This study aims to examine the effect of liquidity ratios, activity ratios, leverage ratios, and sales growth as predictors of financial distress before the bankruptcy stage.Design/Methodology/Approach: The samples of this study included manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2016 to 2019. The samples were selected using the purposive sampling method, and 334 sample companies were obtained. Then, the data analysis employed logistic regression.Research findings: The results revealed that all financial ratios investigated in this study significantly affected financial distress. In addition, while the liquidity ratio, activity ratio, and sales growth had a significant negative effect, the leverage ratio had a significant positive impact on financial distress.Practical and Theoretical contribution/Originality: Currently, most research on bankruptcy has concentrated on bankrupt companies, which are the final phase of the financial distress stage. Meanwhile, the current study attempts to address the gap by researching financial distress prediction before the bankruptcy stage.Practitioner/Policy implications: The results of this study are expected to help stakeholders to take corrective action early to prevent financial distress to the bankruptcy stage.Research limitation: The study only used a negative profit period of two years, at the stage of severe liquidity, and utilized four years of data in one industry sector.

Research aims: This study aims to examine the effect of the size of the board of commissioners, board of directors, audit committee, profitability, and sales growth on the financial distress of mining sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).Design/Methodology/Approach: This research applied a quantitative approach by choosing the type of associative research. The data were in the form of financial documentation of companies listed on the IDX between 2015 and 2019.Research findings: The results showed that profitability and the audit committee positively affected the low potential of financial distress. Therefore, the greater the profitability of the company and the audit committee could minimize the company experiencing financial distress. On the other hand, sales growth, the board of directors, and the board of commissioners had no significant effect on financial distress.Theoretical contribution/Originality: The results provide an empirical explanation that profitability and the size of the audit committee are essential variables in avoiding financial distress. In addition, other theoretical contributions are the use of agency, signaling, and resource dependency theories to explain the phenomenon of financial distress.Research limitation: This study has several limitations. The population was only mining sector companies, and the types of independent commissioners/boards of directors were not separated. Therefore, this study provides recommendations for future research, i.e., expanding the population, including moderating and/or control variables to avoid bias in the results and include other factors triggering financial distress.

Research aims: This study seeks to explain factors causing a significant gap between the potential and budgeted entertainment tax revenues in Wonosobo Regency Government.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study used a qualitative research approach with a case study method. The data were obtained through in-depth interviews and document content analysis.Research findings: This study uncovered that factors causing the gap between potential and budgeted entertainment tax revenues comprised the legislature's waiver to discuss the entertainment tax revenues budget intensively and in detail, executive opportunism behavior, and information asymmetry between the executive and the legislature. This study also found the phenomenon of incremental budgeting in determining the entertainment tax revenues budget.Practical and Theoretical contribution/Originality: This study provides a practical contribution for stakeholders to improve local revenue budgeting policies and offers an academic contribution as a scholarly reference regarding the opportunistic behavior of agents in setting revenue budgets, especially for small-in-size tax, for public organizations.

Research aims: The primary aim of this study is to examine the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic during and after this pandemic on manufacturing sectors in Bangladesh. In the context mentioned above, some issues are then taken as the specific objectives.Design/Methodology/Approach: The study was conducted on the manufacturing sectors listed under Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). The study's target population was 42 manufacturing companies out of 153 listed on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). Four research variables were used to evaluate sample companies' financial performance and financial position. Documentary analysis, descriptive analysis, data normality test, and Wilcoxon Signed–Rank Test were employed to evaluate the hypotheses. The years of annual reports, 2018-2019 to 2020-2021, were utilized for the documentary analysis of sample companies' financial performance and financial position.Research findings: The study's conclusions demonstrated that this pandemic significantly impacted Bangladeshi companies' financial performance (essentially ROA and ROE) at a 5% significance level compared to before the pandemic. In addition, the recovery growth rate of financial performance of sample companies increased optimistically, and the growth of liquidity position of manufacturing companies was also seen in an advantageous position after the COVID-19 pandemic compared to during the COVID-19 pandemic based on Wilcoxon statistical test tool.Theoretical contribution/Originality: The findings of this study can be used as a source of relevant data by investors or future investors for their investment decisions shortly. The findings of this study will also assist the government in determining or preparing the appropriate tax incentive scheme for the impacted industries and whether the correct sector would profit from the tax incentive scheme.Practitioner/Policy implication: Considering that the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the import process of raw materials for production from China in specific and from other countries generally, the study advised the government of Bangladesh to boost its logistic and financial support for the local facility of raw materials.Research limitation/Implication: More extensive research is projected to be conducted on the recovery growth rate of financial performance in Bangladesh's sub-sector manufacturing industries.
