Egzemplifikację omówionych w pierwszej części artykułu dyskursów dotyczących wolności artysty stanowi publiczna dyskusja na temat kontrowersyjnego spektaklu Klątwa (na podstawie dramatu Stanisława Wyspiańskiego), znajdującego się (od 2017 r.) w repertuarze stołecznego Teatru Powszechnego im. Zygmunta Hübnera, zrealizowanego przez chorwackiego reżysera Olivera Frljicia.

The aim of this article is to present the determinants of the limited presence of senior men in cultural institutions in Poland. The text characterises the context in which older men undertake institutional cultural activity and identifies the main reasons why the scale of their cultural participation is low. The fundamental factors that differentiate the nature of cultural participation are gender, the resulting behavioural patterns and individual adaptation strategies. These themes are analysed in the context of the barriers and problems experienced by male seniors, and the risks of social exclusion within this group are highlighted.

Korzystając ze zdobyczy socjologicznej analizy dyskursu, socjologii krytycznej i socjologii sztuki Pierre’a Bourdieu, autor analizuje dzieła sztuki, teksty pisane i inne wypowiedzi artystów wyznających ultrakonserwatywne wartości. Po rozdziale poświęconym przyjętej perspektywie teoretyczno-badawczej po kolei w tekście badane są główne wątki i aspekty tego nowo powstałego fenomenu kulturowego. Ostatni rozdział, zamykający tekst, jest poświęcony zagadnieniu „marszu przez instytucje” i walki o hegemonię kulturową w polskim polu sztuki.

The National Centre for Culture is conducting a foresight research project on the impact of emerging technologies on the arts. The article presents the first findings brought by the analysis of opportunities created by the development of virtual spaces accessible to artists and the public – which are expected to create the Metaverse and promote a new form of ownership, NFT. The text is dedicated to the potential of new tools and media – the positive side of the interface between modern technologies and art. The article offers definitions of the Metaverse, NFT and digital art. Apparently, these elements of social (and technological) reality not only overlap, but also complement each other. The text attempts to answer the question of what potential the next phase of digital transformation brings for visual artists.

The article describes the changes in the functioning of media-dependent professional and competitive sport caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It addresses the strong dependence of sport on electronic media; the consequences of a break in the production of sports broadcasts for the media, sports organisations and athletes; and pandemic remedial strategies. A discussion of the role of sport in contemporary consumer culture and its importance in the development and reduction of the impact of the pandemic is also presented.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zaprezentowanie propozycji modelu analitycznego klubów sportowych, którego fundament stanowi opis strategii przezwyciężania problemów i stabilizowania działalności organizacji. Za bazę do rozważań autorzy przyjmują własne przedsięwzięcia badawcze, w czasie których przyglądali się działaniom klubów doświadczających kryzysów o różnorakiej proweniencji w latach 1989–2014. Rozważania nie są ukierunkowane na umiejscowienie ww. podmiotów na skali efektywności i profesjonalizmu, odnoszących się bądź do czysto sportowych, bądź też ekonomicznych efektów ich funkcjonowania, lecz na opisie i roli działań aktorów społecznych w organizacjach sportowych, wyboru strategii lub jej braku. The article presents sport shooting in Poland against a socio-political background. First, Polish society after the anti-communist breakthrough is diagnosed as a country lacking social capital and social trust in particular. In this context, membership in sport clubs, treated as a form of social involvement, is very desirable, as it expands the network of social cooperation. However, being a sport shooter is also associated with access to weapons, which is always controversial, even if Poland has low rates of access to firearms for citizens. The authors conducted research (CAWI, N = 253) on sport shooters in Poland. The results (opinions of sport shooters) are analyzed in three contexts: possession of a weapon and attitude towards a weapon (motivation to engage in sport shooting), sport shooting clubs (analysis of sport shooting organizations in Poland), and the image of a sport shooter (assessment of sport shooters’ image in Polish society). A basic problem that emerges from the empirical analysis is the heterogeneous interpretation of sport shooting by the shooters themselves. Shooting can be seen in terms of sport (an activity aimed at self-improvement and competition) as well as an activity with out-of-sport goals (patriotic, educational, and defensive). Different definitions of joint activity may lead to interpretative (of meaning) tensions and ultimately to conflicts within the examined category of people.

Communities of practice are groups of people united by a passion for something, who deepen their knowledge and experience in their field through ongoing interactions. This article focuses on the importance of institutionalized relationship networks and mutual recognition in preparation for esports competitions. The study represents inductive, qualitative analyses. Individual in-depth interviews were conducted with players (n = 12) that have significant achievements in Magic: The Gathering (MTG) competitions. In the social world of MTG enthusiasts, numerous groups reflect the functionality of a community of practice. These groups constitute a fundamental aspect of preparation for top-level MTG tournaments. Examples of the functioning of so-called testing groups among MTG enthusiasts allow the formulation of a new analytical category – the gaming community of practice. Contrary to stereotypes, the presented study supports the thesis about the significant role of video games in the formation of social competencies and the creation of specific communities, which is particularly important in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie najważniejszych wniosków z kryzysu w polskiej piłce nożnej wywołanego przez pandemię COVID-19. W badaniu dokonano jakościowej analizy treści materiałów prasowych opisujących doniesienia dotyczące futbolu oraz przeprowadzono wywiady pogłębione w wariancie eksperckim z osobami pełniącymi ważne funkcje w środowisku zawodowej piłki nożnej. Wyniki analizy pokazują niespotykaną od dekad skalę negatywnych konsekwencji dla całego ekosystemu piłkarskiego. Najważniejsze z nich obejmowały kwestie: bezpośredniego zagrożenia zdrowia, ekonomii (widmo krachu na rynku piłkarskim), trudności organizacyjno-formalnych oraz wątpliwości wobec politycznego zaangażowania w proces przywrócenia futbolu. Szybkie i zakończone sukcesem wdrożenie planu odmrażania polskiej piłki nożnej ostatecznie uchroniło najważniejszych interesariuszy przed urzeczywistnieniem się najbardziej pesymistycznych scenariuszy (np. niewydolności finansowej i bankructw).

W badaniu dokonano jakościowej analizy treści materiałów prasowych opisujących doniesienia dotyczące futbolu oraz przeprowadzono wywiady pogłębione w wariancie eksperckim z osobami pełniącymi ważne funkcje w środowisku zawodowej piłki nożnej. Wyniki analizy pokazują niespotykaną od dekad skalę negatywnych konsekwencji dla całego ekosystemu piłkarskiego. Najważniejsze z nich obejmowały kwestie: bezpośredniego zagrożenia zdrowia, ekonomii (widmo krachu na rynku piłkarskim), trudności organizacyjno-formalnych oraz wątpliwości wobec politycznego zaangażowania w proces przywrócenia futbolu.
