Social learning analytics is an emerging discipline that offers new methods to explore data from online educational devices in order to obtain a better understanding of student behavior. As learning takes place in heterogeneous and complex online environments, the incorporation of contextual information about the student has attracted major interest. For some time, most methods of student modelling have considered interactions as a key dimension of the student's social context, but only recently, automatic extraction software agents begin to tackle interactions in a non-exclusively quantitative way. In this paper, we propose the discovery of sentiments in online social interactions as an additional property for the modeling of students in order to produce a contextualized diagnosis when performing learning analytics. We propose answers to the questions of "Which are the sentiments in students context modeling?", "Why are they important for social learning analytics?", "How can we visualize them?"

Open educational resources are teaching, learning or research materials in the public domain or that have been published under an intellectual property license that allows for their free use, adaptation and distribution. Based on the University Learning Network (RUA) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and seeking to offer organized educational resources that are associated to the Information Technology curricula, the National Association of Institutions of Education in Information Technologies (ANIEI) develops a RUA, which will allow a repository of open resources aligned to curricular models by competencies and materials designed and endorsed by academics from its member institutions, thus enhancing the tools available for teachers and IT students. This article presents a research project about the process of implementation of the RUA-ANIEI, as well as the main achievements and learning obtained.

Search and Selection of Learning Objects in Repositories: A Review 知识库中学习对象的搜索与选择综述
Pub Date : 2018-10-01 DOI: 10.1109/LACLO.2018.00090
Germán A. Osorio-Zuluaga, N. Duque-Méndez
This article aims to present a review of the academic literature on the search for learning objects in repositories of the last ten years. To carry it out, first, it defined a methodology for the search and selection of the papers to be included in this study. Then, the bibliographic databases Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar for the implementation of the methodology were used. Next, based on the selected documents, three strategies for the search of learning objects were characterized, such as classic by keywords, full-text search, and hybrids. In this sense, hybrid solutions that use multiple integrated strategies have been gaining importance. Finally, it was verified that the methodology used to determine the papers of the review was adequate and allowed an approach to the state of the art in this topic.

This article presents a teaching methodology structured in a combination of online peer assessment and scoring rubric techniques with the objective of allowing students to follow and evaluate their peers work, attempting to find a more favorable educational environment to the development of project designs. The methodology was applied in an undergraduate Computer Engineering Course whose results are shown to be very promising by influencing the students to produce better digital systems designs with the implementation of more complex Input/Output devices. In this way, the applied teaching methodology stimulated creativity and motivated students to a deeper theoretical and practical knowledge related to the course learning outcomes.

According to the Code.org there are currently 528,174 open computing jobs in U.S. and only 49,291 computer science students graduated into the workforce, last year. In order to try to reverse this scenario, several countries are working on a way to include computer science concepts, like computational thinking, in their curriculums for K-12 education. In addition, many studies and researches are being done related to practices and tools that can be applied in order to retain students that applied for computer science courses. In order to contribute to these initiatives, this paper presents CODEX, an interactive and ludic learning object, that aims to help students that do not need to have a background in programming to learn one of the most important structure in a programming language, the loop. CODEX was designed to be used both in class and in extra-class activity.

With the insertion of Information and Communication Technologies in our society, the teaching and learning process of different subjects is increasingly being aided by educational technologies, but not all tools can help students in the effective learning of subjects. In order to arrive at a more conclusive answer regarding the benefits of using these technologies, it is necessary to carry out studies in real learning situations. In this context, this work presents the results of a case study carried out with the purpose of analyzing the efficiency and efficacy of a computerized exam, called Nihongo Kotoba Shiken, which was used to evaluate lexical knowledge in the Japanese Language of a proficient in the language.

Nowadays, disorders and diseases associated with emotional states and personality are increasingly common. Studies indicate that the identification of the personality of an individual can help in the treatment of these disorders. This identification is often performed with the help of affective lexicons. The main objective of this work is to initiate a study to create a tool capable of identifying the personality of students in virtual learning environments with the help of an affective lexicon in Brazilian Portuguese. For this purpose, it is intended, initially, to perform the inference of personality from the texts of users of a Brazilian social network. The results achieved are considered relevant and promising.
