„It so happens” – about writing of Ewa NowackaEwa Nowacka occupies an important place among the contemporary Polish writers and her prose works for young recipients, extensive as far as various subjects and genres are concerned, contain many inventive, unique concepts and writing ideas. Nowacka is, first of all, the author of novels of manners and historical ones, in which the writer presents her imagination, her aspiration for the reconstruction of life of manners, cultural life, concern for noticing concrete things, details, which are the background of experience of a young character who struggles with eternal, archetypical problems, the universalism and psychologism of which is the strong point of the author’s writing. The recipient of Ewa Nowacka’s works notices that characters create their destiny through ordinary struggle, that it is necessary to mythologize the existence in order to understand the world.

Musical Knowledge and the Ways of its Transmission in Children’s Books of Izabella Klebańska and Anna Czerwińska-RydelThis article deals with children’s music books written by Izabella Klebanska and Anna Czerwinska-Rydel. The author analyzes the content of the musical knowledge contained in the mentioned sources. Systematizes and exchanges issues in books. In addition, she describes the variety of ways of presenting musical knowledge. He points out the significant differences in the work of both authors and gives examples of their applied – not only – literary works, aimed at broadening the knowledge and shaping the musical interest of the young reader. It then discusses the illustration function, which is an important factor in helping or distorting the reception of the next, and thereby contributing to the cognitive competence of the child in the in the field of music.

The Truth of the Fairytale – Agnieszka Suchowierska’s Tough IssuesAgnieszka Suchowierska made her debut in 2008 and has published three books so far. Two of them: ‘The fairytale is life or, which fairytale are you from?’ or‘Prince the Snow-White. Gender stereotypes in fairytales’ were written collectively with the well-known psychologist Wojciech Eichelberger. They are tales with appended commentaries in the form of conversations between the authoress and the therapist. Already in her debut novel ‘The fairytale is life’, Suchowierska tackles several difficult subjects and poses important questions such as : how can one see the world?; how to be free?; how to find the essence of things? In ‘Prince the Snow-White”, written a few years later, those questions take on the form of reflection on the woman’s cultural condition. The volume contains new versions of traditional fairytales in which men and women switch their roles. This simple gambit lays bare the power of gender stereotypes and manifests the degree to which contemporary culture allows (or disallows) women to do attractive/enjoyable things traditionally reserved for men only. The third book penned by Suchowierska ‘Mat and the world’ was published in 2015. In as much as the potential target readers of her tales are either young people or adults, the last book is dedicated to still younger readers. It tells the story of a plush teddy-bear, manufactured in China, which, due to a curious twist of circumstances, travels around the world. The bear’s journey becomes a pretext for revealing social inequities as well as presenting different cultures and religions. Mat, the bear, is characterized by optimism, activity and self-control in times of crisis. The propagated attitudes and models of upbringing presented in the story are no truisms. The little volume was awarded The Book of 2015 Literary Prize of the Polish section of IBBY.

Re-centered of the world. Escape from city to the countryside in the newest novels by Małgorzata Musierowicz In this article I analyse two newest books by Małgorzata Musierowicz from the series Jeżycjada:Wnuczka do orzechów (2014) and Feblik(2015). Action of Jeżycjadatakes place in Poznań and its surroundings. Actually in the last two books action takes place mainly in this surroundings – at the countryside. Borejko family (main characters of the series) is spending there definitely more time than in the city. Seniors decided to go out of city. The result od this decision is that the centre of characters’ life has relocated. City is described as human’s enemy and countryside as a friendly space. In my article I interpret fragments which are describing this two areas. I answer the question why characters decided to move out form Poznań and stay at the countryside and how this change affects Borejko family.

Series about the Adventures of Teoś Kefirek Małgorzaty Strękowskiej-Zaremby According to the Patterns of a Detective Novels Małgorzata Strękowska-Zaremba is the author which writes a children’s novels. In her cycle of Teoś Kefirek she was inspired by classic pattern of detective novel, but she was able to modify it. She tries to work out her own style, creates colorful characters and fixes them in the 21st century realities and on the other hand she is capable of using conventional elements of genre and renews them with her own suggestions. She also intertwined the moments of great suspense with situations full of humour on account of young readers.

Without the Choice? On the Loss of Axiological Heroes of Children and Youth Literature (on Selected Examples of the Work of Ewa Przybylska and Barbara Kosmowska)Article concerns problems of „new character” which appears in literature of the end of XX and the beginning of XXI centuries and is rooted in the phenomenon of young „generation of nobody” and show rich psychological portraits of protagonists. Contemporary Polish prose, which is not optimistic anymore, show anthropological sensitivity, is called a literature of initiation, present a young protagonists in a labyrinth of values, whose life seems to be suffering, they are lost in reality, lonely, looking for answers of difficult existential questions, looking for the true, friendship and love. Most significant literary examples which present problems mentioned above and which are rooted in the wide context of ethics – are works of Ewa Przybylska: Dzień kolibra (1997) i Dotyk motyla (2016) and Most na Missisipi (2012) and Barbara Kosmowska: Pozłacana rybka (2007),Sezon na zielone kasztany (2013) and Samotni.pl(2012). Most of these texts could be discussed also in educational perspective.

Marzena Sowa’s Comics. Marzi Talks About Childhood in PRLPolish screenwriter Marzena Sowa is the author of the comics’ cycle about Marzi, which was published in the years 2005–2011 and was an international success (the drawings prepared by Sylvain Savoia). The storiesabout the red-haired girl, the daughter of the workman and the resident of industrial city are the forms autobiographical, that show the reality of life in Poland in the 1980s. The prospect of a child, who is a careful observer of the adult world, has allowed the presentation of history of country in Central Europe at the end of communism. The cycle of Marzi presents an evocative picture of experience “last generation of PRL”, is the witness to the contemporary culture and the record of the struggles of society with the problems of everyday life in “difficult times”. Since its debut in 2005, the critic compares this comic diary from the time of puberty to the famous Persepolisof Marjane Satrapi. For the modern reader the books of Marzena Sowa is a valuable source of knowledge about Poland in the days of “Solidarity” and Lech Wałęsa, as well as the iconic comics that has a big power of social and cultural impact.

Since its debut in 2005, the critic compares this comic diary from the time of puberty to the famous Persepolisof Marjane Satrapi.
