W źródłowej dla badań teorii płci Judith Butler performans i performatywność funkcjonują jako centralne pojęcia konstruktywistycznego rozumienia tożsamości. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przyjrzenie się przemianom, jakim podlegają w zróżnicowanych dyskursach queer studies konteksty i słowniki teatralne. Główną osią są queerowe praktyki interpretacji tekstów kultury, których ewolucja ukazuje emancypacyjną i wspólnotową funkcję teatralizacji języków teoretycznych, pozwalających na wykorzystanie scenicznej estetyki do lektur afektywnych i naprawczych.

Between the World and the Image – Signs, Symbols and Visual Metaphors in Iwona Chmielewska’s Picturebooks In this article, Marta Kotkowska appeals to the category of the iconic turn and appoints insignias of picturebooks of Iwona Chmielewska. The researcher also analyses meanings of the artistic expression which author uses in her books. Relying on this characterization, Marta Kotkowska presents how this “in between” words and images works, and how, almost in the real time, it generates and transform meanings. In the description of the almost indiscernible and elusive relation between the word and the image which constitutes picturebook, the semiotic categories, such as the sign, the symbol and the visual metaphor are used. The editorial deliberations concerning the congeniality of analyzing projects are summing the whole article. They emphasize that Chmielewska creates every book even in the smallest detail and with full consciousness and that both format, cover and paper, and words and images, are significant.

The former is the picture book by Iwona Chmielewska Królestwo dziewczynki. Authoress tries to show within it how to cope with changes and emotions due to the passage from children’s world to kingdom of femininity. The latter is Pierwsze koty robaczywki by Karina Bonowicz, that shows in light and humorous way pitfalls of adolescent teenager. It appeared that only confrontation with carnality and pubescence can lead young girls to finding their own identity.

Thing as a „Cure to Fray, a Cure for Hopelessness” in the Prose of Katarzyna Ryrych The article is an attempt to read books for young adult written by Katarzyna Ryrych – Pepa w raju,Król,Denim blue, by using the category of non-anthropocentric humanism. The tekst refers to a Przemysław Czapliński’s literary studies concentrating around things in modern literature. Katarzyna Ryrych presents the problems of modern teenagers, but she is aslo concentrate around everyday objects, clothes, souvenirs, and utensils. Ryrych used things to create heroes’ characteristics, describe their problems, and show interpersonal relationships. The author, according to Bjørnar Olsen’s theory, shows the influence of objects on the creation of the human psyche. Practices in relation to material objects, however, do not lead to materialism for the practices in relation to things are in a sense the learning of another person, remembering him, building relationships with another person.

Idea and Beauty in Iwona Chmielewska’s PicturebooksA few years ago Iwona Chmielewska, Torunian artist and creator of the picturebooks could speak that the hardest thing is to be a Prophet in his own country. She was the author much more known on the publishing market in South Korea than in Poland. However, her books gradually accustom Polish publishers and readers to their ineptitude, ingenuity, poetry and creativity. An article is a short analysis of the selected (including unpublished yet in Poland) books by Chmielewska for creative workshop of their author: ideas for an intriguing content, poetic image and the specific architecture of the whole picturebook as artifact.

Krystyna Lipka-Sztarbałło’s creation for children bookShaping full personality includes an introduction to cultural messages understanding and requires preparation from the earliest years of life. The use of picture books and book illustrations as the key assumption in visual education of children. Picture books represent the first artistic medium as the primary carrier of aesthetic values and a potential chance to stimulate cognitive, social development of a child. History of Polish picture book dates back to the turn of XIX and XX centuries. However, the realizations gaining more widespread range occurred much later. Krystyna Lipko-Sztarbałło, a graphic artist and an animator of Polish book for children, has been of key importance for the development of Polish picture book for the last twenty-odd years. The significance of the illustrations book in child development is proven by the examples of graphic designs taken from Krystyna Lipka-Sztarbałło’s works.
