Since military violence on the scale of large nations is becoming more and more outdated, new forms of international and global relations are emerging in all kinds of conflict resolution. Their exact format cannot be clearly discerned yet in many areas. However, weapons production and distribution - under whatever pretext - is becoming more and more questionable. Signs of global cooperation have become more common since the last decade of the 20th century. In this article, furthermore, an example of dramatic diplomatic action is outlined and explained in some detail - concerning the Kosovo crisis in the 1980s and 1990s. Obviously, now in March/April 2020 the Corona virus has also reached the 'Western world', i.e., Europe and North America, and has placed not only Asia but countries across the globe in a state of emergency. Cooperation is taking place worldwide; however, each government understandably has to look after its own population first. Again, borders do become of importance and are re-established to function as protection against 'infections' of all kinds. In response to these phenomena, nature seems to have taught mankind at all levels to keep a distance and become closer as well.

Fishbone diagram is a graphical technique to show the several causes of a specific event. Fish-bone diagram is applied here as a novel graphical representation to identify, explore and analyze the source and evolution of innovation and especially General Purpose Technologies (GPTs). Firstly, the study here shows the driving forces of GPTs, such as: higher democratization, high investment in R&D, etc. Secondly, these drivers of GPTs and in general of new technology are represented with fishbone diagram for the technological analysis. Some examples are given by applying the Fishbone diagram to specific GPTs, such as steam engine and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Overall, then, fishbone diagram seems to be an appropriate and general technique of graphical representation for the technological analysis and foresight of path-breaking innovation in society.
