The use of audio-visual components in educational materials has received a lot of attention due to the emphasis on efficient language learning methods. This study aims to investigate the innovation of audio-visual language learning media in the creation of cutting-edge audio-visual language learning materials and to analyze how it affects language learning and student engagement. The sample consisted of 25 students from second-year students majoring in English Department of Faculty and Education class B at Islamic University of Riau during the academic year 2022-2023. In order to gain a better understanding of the experiences, preferences, and suggestions for improvement of the learners, qualitative data was obtained through note-taking and observation. The results of this study help students understand the materials using audio-visual language learning and offers helpful suggestions for students, creators, and multimedia projects on how to successfully incorporate audio-visual components into language learning resources. The findings of this study could help motivate students and produce effective and interesting learning materials for language learners.

Scrabble online is an application that can be used to teach vocabulary. In this particular study, researchers used online scrabble on students from a high school in Simalungun. There were six participants in this study. The purpose of this study is to find out how students feel about the effectiveness of using online scrabble to improve their vocabulary. The question that needs to be answered in this study is, "How do students perceive the use of online scrabble in learning vocabulary?" The study presented here was a qualitative descriptive study. Data collected through interviews were then transcribed verbatim and analyzed using content analysis. As a result of this study, it can be concluded that scrabble online is an application that can help students improve their vocabulary when learning English.

This research aims to analyze students' perspectives by using the Google Classroom application in learning English during the pandemic. The subjects of this study were students from class XII IPS 3 at SMA Yuppentek 1 Kota Tangerang in the academic year 2021/2022. The research used a descriptive qualitative method. In collecting data, the author used 2 techniques, namely; interviews and questionnaires. The results of this study are based on their perspective, it can be concluded that online learning is fun. Learning online is more relaxed because it can be done anywhere. Online learning makes saving time and money. Students also study online due to pandemic conditions that require them to study online. However, the negative side of online learning is unstable network conditions, sometimes constrained by the internet quota being exhausted, unfocused, and less effective in delivering subject matter which ultimately makes it difficult for students to understand the subject matter and using Google Classroom facilitated the online learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic, but there is no denying that they also consider face-to-face learning to be more effective than online learning.

A learning model called blended learning mixes online and face-to-face instruction. It includes multiple implementation techniques, instructional models, and learning styles. The Edmodo application media is one of the educational chances supplied by exploiting current ICT advances. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of learning using the Edmodo-based blended learning model in improving student learning outcomes in English courses. This study employed an experimental research methodology. Data are grouped and extraneous information is reduced due to the descriptive qualitative approach's framework, which collects data through testing, observation, and documentation. In this study, data analysis started with data collecting and was then condensed, including summarizing, choosing the most crucial information, concentrating on it, searching for themes and patterns, and removing irrelevant information. Based on the research findings, two approaches—online via the Edmodo application and offline—are recommended for implementing the blended learning strategy based on Edmodo (face to face). Students use Edmodo to interact with lecturers and other students during online lectures. Beforehand, the lecturer created a virtual class on Edmodo and connected all the students to it. The in-person meetings include group discussions based on the material covered in the online classes. Events held in person can also be hosted using the Edmodo app. Based on test results and an analysis of the learning outcomes of students who used the blended learning strategy built on Edmodo, it is rated in the very good category.

Bullying seriously violates the ethics of human relations. It is a serious problem that affects the mental health of young people, and sadly at times, it can even result in the tragic death of the victims. The act of bullying in the form of gossiping, mocking, laughing at them, or even "seemingly harmless" physical acts, is often not taken seriously and is even interpreted as an act of joking. These acts are often felt by victims as deeply disturbing as they suffer from physical pain and mental anguish due to body shame as is seen in the film “Weirdos”. This study aims to describe, to analyze, and to interpret critically the film based on the aspects of the victim's character-building through traits that range from empathy, passion, and patience to stop the tyranny of bullying. Using the descriptive and qualitative method with an eclectic approach and content analysis, the data of this study were selected from film’s sceneries The results of this study show that being empathy namely patience and passion, bullying can be overcome. Apart from this, these positive traits might lead to a greater awareness of how certain virtues of victims and their strength of character can overcome bullying. Finally, this study promotes film as a means of educational media to spread awareness of the impacts of bullying.

This research aims to investigate the students’ perceptions towards Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) during online learning of the pandemic outbreak in Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika. This research used qualitative descriptive method. The researchers gave several questions in the form of questionnaire through google form. Seventy students from different major and status (graduated and not graduated yet) in Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika were chosen as participants. The data were gathered through questionnaires. There were ten questionnaires regarding to students’ perception of the given policy to the participants; and three questionnaires regarding to improve TOEFL competence skill. The result shows that 70,4% of participants prefer to choose Computer Based Test, and 45,1% of participants study TOEFL mainly to have Scholarship. Related to the most difficult part of TOEFL test, there are 36,6% of participants percept Listening Comprehension. Furthermore, in improving TOEFL competence, 43,7% of participants mostly like to watching movie. It indicates that most of the participants considered TOEFL as an essential thing to scale their English proficiency test and as the difficult test in English Proficiency. Furthermore, from the findings, it can also be seen that the challenges and gains encountered by the students are varied.

Abbreviations are often used to save time and space in writing or speech and become a trend of communication. They are created by taking the initial letters or syllables of a longer word or phrase and forming a compact representation of it. Abbreviations are commonly used in various fields such as education, medicine, science, and technology, and the most common usage is in everyday communication. This study aims to find out the type of abbreviation formation carried out by Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University students during their communication. This study used a qualitative descriptive method due to the researchers described the analysis in the form of sentence. The data was taken from the students’ communication in terms of recording. The results show that there are 4 classifications of abbreviation used by Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University students, namely acronyms which are obtained at 35.3%, shorthand which is 42.2%, fragments are 14%, and contractions which are 8,5%. No abbreviation is found in the form of a crest.

Microlearning has been widely popular in English language learning. It has some potentials; critical thinking, lowering cognitive load, focusing on learning, and bridging the theory-practice gap in the 21st century learning. This research aims to investigate how critical thinking skills and microlearning-based model are integrated in the English learning material web-based of eighth graders. Qualitative content analysis was utilized as the method for this research. An English learning material web-based was analyzed by using critical thinking skills descriptors from and microlearning descriptors. The findings reveal that the English learning material web-based consists of 7 out of 11 descriptors of critical thinking and includes of 6 out of 9 microlearning descriptors. However, it is indicated that the English learning material web-based of eighth graders are not fully incorporated with the critical thinking skills and microlearning-based model.
