Ionizing radiation doses in computed tomography (CT) have the potential to generate deleterious effects. The issue is not trivial and the question remains as to how the dose management is managed, specifically, in Chile. The objective of this work is to record and synthesize doses to patient undergoing CT examination in three institutions in the Valparaíso Region. A prospective descriptive study was carried out for 3 months, including examinations of the head, thorax and pelvis. DICOM files were collected to extract relevant variable values. Dose distributions are different between hospitals, as they have different equipment installed and different acquisition protocols. The median CTDI (Computed Tomography Dose Index) observed are in general within the international range

Arterial dissection accounts for 2% of all ischemic strokes and up to 25% of strokes in young adults. We present this clinical case, where we objectify this rare cause of dissection using dynamic computed tomography techniques. Due to its sympto-matology a MRI-angiography was performed, where a semilunar image was observed in the wall of the right internal carotid artery, prior to its entry into the carotid foramen, compatible with carotid dissection. We complemented the evaluation with CT-angiography where it was also found that the length of both styloid processes were increased (right 47 mm and left 44 mm). Using a dynamic CT-angiography technique, in which the patient was placed in the supine position, obtaining images at rest and then in rotation and right lateral inclination, compression of the ipsilateral internal carotid artery was observed between the styloid process and the corresponding perivertebral space
