Ectopic pancreatic tissue or heterotopic pancreas is a congenital or acquired anomaly in which there is pancreatic tissue not connected to the main gland. It has an uncertain prevalence since it is generally an incidental finding and is located mainly in the upper gastrointestinal tract. We present the case of a 51-year-old woman with jejunal ectopic pancreas with associated inflammatory changes, studied with computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, and subsequent histopathological confirmation.

Hepatocellular carcinoma is the sixth most common neoplasm in the world and the third cause of death among cancer patients. Mortality in patients with this condition is mainly due to tumor cachexia, liver failure and spontaneous tumor rupture. This report describes the clinical case of a 69-year-old male patient who attended the hospital emergency department complaining of sudden onset abdominal pain located in the epigastrium and vomiting with a tendency to hypotension. The patient had to undergo emergency surgery due to the rupture of a previously unknown hepatocellular carcinoma. In addition to the clinical description of the case, this study presents a discussion on the possibilities of therapeutic management of this kind of patients based on the international literature on the matter.

Anterior knee pathology is frecuent in clinical practice. Patello femoral dysfunction is a syndromic condition of broad etiology frequently associated with a failure in the entry of the patella into the trochlea that causes overload and wear of the articular cartilages, determining a higher risk of osteoarthritis in the long term. The clinical presentation is varied. It is a dynamic problem, where anatomical factors of the joint geometry and its stabilizing mechanisms influence. The imaging study includes different techniques with different uses. The simple X-ray is the initial examination. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, both techniques with greater resolution of space and contrast, allow evaluating other aspects of the joint and the relationship of the patella with the femoral trochlea, in addition to the rotational aspects of the lower limb. None of them alone provides all the information necessary for the therapeutic decision. In this article we review the clinical presentations and the imaging study. We discuss and propose a study protocol with X-ray and magnetic resonance imaging that includes the most useful validated objective measurements of the anatomical factors that condition instability in the different clinical presentations.
