Ten advanced practice nurses are already working at the Guillaume-Régnier hospital in Rennes. As part of an internship at this facility, students in the second year of the IPA master's degree in psychiatry and mental health at the University of Rennes were interested in the dynamics surrounding this still recent profession, the diversity of the missions performed, and inter-professional collaboration. An online survey was distributed to IPAs, and four interviews were conducted with healthcare professionals working with them.

Our experience of working with veterans traumatized by their encounter with death has enabled us to evolve our nursing practice so as to better welcome the singular voice of the psychically wounded in a military environment. This approach aims to highlight the resonance between an unspeakable experience of annihilation and the singularity of the subject. The interest of this notion lies in its clinical value, which is tending to disappear in modern therapies, as the personal history of our soldiers becomes the necessary framework for attempting to heal a major existential rupture. In this way, it confers an ethical value on treatment, by respecting the symptoms of these soldiers through their specific experiences. Every war has its share of suffering, but every soldier has his own war and his own unique story.

People with mental health problems have a worse oral health condition than the general population. As part of a qualitative study using semi-directive interviews aimed at analyzing the perceptions of professionals working in medical-psychological centers regarding the difficulties encountered by their patients in accessing dental care, three obstacles were identified: factors intrinsic to the patient, background in prevention and the organization of the healthcare system.

The psychiatric department at the Laveran Army Training Hospital in Marseille is a referral center for legionnaires, a population at high risk of psychological trauma. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, nurses and orderlies play a major role in their care. The dual status of caregiver and soldier is an asset in providing comprehensive care for psychologically injured legionnaires. The service's civilian staff also have extensive knowledge of the military environment.

Sexological problems are rarely highlighted in the context of post-traumatic stress disorder. Beyond the direct clinical symptoms of this disorder, sexual dysfunction is one of the most common co-morbid signs in psychotraumatic clinics. In the specific context of the military institution, and particularly the Foreign Legion hospital, the sexological approach represents both a challenge and an opportunity to contribute to the reconstruction of these young men, overwhelmed by the unspeakable effects of war and their intimate difficulties.

War-related psychological disorders have a major impact on family relationships. There are tools and methods for dealing with families affected by war trauma, which can be insidiously transmitted. An account of the therapeutic work carried out with a family affected by psychotrauma reveals the particularities of this systemic intervention.

In 2024, the Desgenettes military hospital was transformed into an outpatient facility. The psychiatry department has been reorganized into a multidisciplinary day-care center based on the consultation service. Patients are cared for on a case-by-case basis, based on a personalized care plan drawn up collectively. Care is based on the support of caregivers using a variety of methods. It is always adapted to the clinical situation, enabling us to respond to crisis situations. Care organization reflects a dynamic, constantly evolving process.

The practice of psychic care for military personnel in the context of hospital care in metropolitan France is singular. Army training hospitals act as rear bases, taking in repatriated medical personnel as well as everyday sufferers, and blending the stigma of a clinic that is more heterogeneous than that which would be specific to the context of war, yet equally involving care teams - nurses, psychologists and psychiatrists - acculturated to the military environment, and singularizing their practice to ever-changing needs in the face of a changing society and world.
