This paper newly proposes an LTCC-based Mobius ring bandpass filter, in which the Mobius ring is embedded in a microstrip line substrate so that the electromagnetic fields around a microstrip gap couple to the embedded Mobius ring smoothly. Simulated results indicate that a λ/4 resonance is occurred on the ring and the fields are confined within the Mobius ring. A prototype model is implemented by using an LTCC technology to confirm the theoretical predictions.

A dielectric lens antenna feeding with microstrip patch antennas for 77GHz long range radar application 用于77GHz远程雷达的微带贴片馈电介质透镜天线

A dielectric lens antenna feeding with microstrip patch antennas for long range radar application is presented. Using the microstrip patch antenna to feed the lens antenna is easy to implement due to its simple and compact size. Besides, the lens antenna can be easily achieved high gain and low side lobes. To achieve broader field of view for the radar application, two feeding microstrip patch antennas are utilized, and each of which has 10 degree of half-power beamwidth covering field of view of 20 degree. The measurement peak gain, half-power beamwidth, and side-lobe level are 20.2 dBi, 9 degree, and -16 dB, respectively. The measurement results show the input impedance of the proposed lens antenna is well matched to 50 Ω. All the measurement and simulated results are in good agreement.

A polarization reconfigurable microstrip patch antenna with a complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a CSRR and a p-i-n diode on the patch for switchable polarization. The proposed antenna has dual polarization: linear polarization (LP) and right-handed circular polarization (RHCP). Simulated and measured results agree well.

A narrow band CMOS active dual-mode ring resonator bandstop filter 窄带CMOS有源双模环形谐振带阻滤波器

A narrow band active dual-mode bandstop filter fabricated on complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) 0.13 μm process is proposed in this paper. In the design, a ring resonator is coupled to a main signal path through a quarter-wavelength length coupled line. Meandered complementary conducting strip transmission lines (CCS TLs) are used to form the ring resonator. The ring resonator is loaded with capacitors separated by quarter-wavelength to split the two degenerate modes, and compensated by two orthogonal cross-coupled pairs as well. This design achieves a small area of 0.0206 λ0 × 0.0206 λ0 and a narrow stopband of 0.10 GHz or 1.16% fractional bandwidth of 10 dB insertion loss (IL) level. A sharp response is demonstrated by simulation and shows an agreement with the measurement results.

Planer frequency reconfigurable antenna for mobile terminals 用于移动终端的平面频率可重构天线

We propose a novel design of a frequency reconfigurable antenna. The electrical length and return loss of the antenna are reconfigured by RF-MEMS switches. The area of the antenna element is 15 × 50 mm2. The measured total efficiency of the antenna is higher than -3 dB at almost all frequencies between 0.78 GHz and 5.85 GHz. This antenna is suitable for future mobile terminals, which include many radio systems.

A very low profile monopole ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with band rejection characteristics is presented. The antenna is designed to reject the frequency bands of WiMAX and WLAN while the size of the antenna is miniaturized significantly. The overall size after extensive optimization of the antenna's dimensions is 12×18 mm2. A half-wavelength slot in the radiator of the antenna is used to introduce a frequency band-notch at the WiMAX frequency band. However, the WLAN frequency band is notched using two symmetrical open-ended quarter-wavelength slots in the ground plane. The proposed antenna is simulated, fabricated, and its performance is measured experimentally. The simulation and measurement results demonstrate the suitability of the proposed antenna to work properly in the UWB systems.

Microwave application technologies such as microwave heating, microwave assisted chemistry, etc. are of the innovative green technologies. In this paper, a chip-size structure for continuous microwave irradiation is proposed. It consists of the post-wall waveguide (or the substrate integrated waveguide) and a micro channel arranged among the metallic posts. In order to realize miniaturization, the 24.125 GHz band is utilized instead of the commonly used 2.45 GHz band. The validity of the proposed structure is examined numerically and experimentally with microwave power sources of about 1 W.

In modern wireless communication and microwave design, the complexity of whole system is increasing. It's difficult to develop a complex system without suitable tools. In order to shorten time to market and turn-around time, the role of electrical design automation (EDA) software is becoming more and more important. In this paper, some recent activities of Taiwan companies using Agilent EEsof EDA solutions are presented. TSMC developed 60GHz Reference Design Kit on CMOS 65nm process using Agilent Momentum & GoldenGate. Quanta Computer developed and verified WiMAX SiP module using ADS and EMPro. Cyntec also developed component libraries for ADS and verified how significant the process variation affects components' performances.

Substrate integrated waveguide quasi-elliptic bandpass filter with meander-slot coupling structures 弯曲槽耦合结构的基板集成波导准椭圆带通滤波器

This paper presents a novel cross-coupled bandpass filter using substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity resonators. A special negative coupling scheme with symmetrical meander slots on the top and bottom metal planes is applied. The design strategies and performances are introduced and discussed in detail. The proposed fourth-order filter shows a fractional bandwidth of 8.2% at 15.24 GHz with a return loss of better than -17.25 dB, an insertion loss of less than -1.8 dB, and excellent frequency selectivity.

A special negative coupling scheme with symmetrical meander slots on the top and bottom metal planes is applied. The design strategies and performances are introduced and discussed in detail. Three types of array antennas for 60-GHz radios 三种60千兆赫无线电阵列天线

There are three popular types of array antennas for 60GHz radios. They are patch array antenna and cavity array antenna as well as grid array antenna. This paper reports the designs of them in the same LTCC technology. It is shown that the grid array antenna has the simplest structure, the highest radiation efficiency, and aperture efficiency. However, the gain-bandwidth of the grid array antenna needs to be enhanced to cover the 60-GHz band.
