On the distributed management of SCORM-compliant course contents 基于scorm的课程内容分布式管理研究

SCORM's environment and its complex metadata make distributed LMSs difficult to communicate with each other, therefore hindering the content management and sharing. In order to overcome these two shortcomings, we propose a hybrid scheme which is composed of a XML binding model and an LDAP-based directory service. A preliminary experiment shows how it has helped SCORM evolve towards intelligent e-learning.

An object-oriented approach on Web information representation and derivation 面向对象的Web信息表示和派生方法

A framework on Web information representation, extraction and derivation utilising the object-oriented approach is proposed. We define a structure which is similar to a class in object-oriented design and programming, and name it as an extended class (eclass). An eclass contains data attributes, member functions/methods, inference rules and presentations, and therefore, facilities information derivation and Web presentation. As an object-oriented approach, the framework also supports encapsulation, polymorphism, composition and inheritance. It can be implemented as an extension of an existing object-oriented programming language. An eclass can be extremely effective in content-dependent entity description. It describes a value under its context, consequently, the search engine not only searches the value, but also understands the meaning of the value in the context. We argue that information in any form or complexity can always be represented by instances of eclasses.

A methodology to find Web site keywords 查找网站关键字的方法

For many companies and/or institutions it is no longer sufficient to have a Web site and high quality products or services. What in many cases makes the difference between success and failure of e-business is the potential of the respective Web site to attract and retain visitors. This potential is determined by a site's content, its design, and technical aspects, such as e.g. time to load the pages among others. We concentrate on the content represented by free text of each of the Web pages. We propose a method to determine the set of the most important words in a Web site from the visitor's point of view. This is done combining usage information with Web page content arriving at a set of keywords determined implicitly by the site's visitors. Applying self-organizing neural networks to the respective usage and content data we identify clusters of typical visitors and the most important pages and words for each cluster. We applied our method to a bank's Web site in order to show its benefits. Institutions that perform consequently and regularly the proposed analysis can design their Web sites according to their visitors' needs and requirements and this way stay ahead of their competitors.

Understand user preference of online shoppers 了解在线购物者的用户偏好

The tremendous growth of the Internet has created opportunities for consumers and firms to participate in an online global marketplace. It is conceivable that in the future every person with access to a computer will interact with firms marketing on the Internet. We foresee that advances in electronic commerce dramatically alter the structure of businesses, especially in the marketing area. We extend the literature on marketing channel functions to include the Internet as a new option for selling products/services directly to customers. Important factors that inference the behaviors of online shoppers are identified. A classification scheme is used to categorize products/services selling on the Internet based on characteristics such as tangibility and price from the buyer's perspective. The classification scheme helps management to understand the difference in user preference over different product categories. A survey of experienced online shoppers was conducted to validate the scheme.

Data extraction and annotation for dynamic Web pages 动态Web页面的数据提取和注释

Many Web sites contain large sets of pages generated dynamically using a common template. The structured data extracted from these pages with semantic annotation are valuable for information system. We proposed a system, ADeaD, to automatically extract data values from these Web pages and annotate the data schema. Experimental evaluation on a lot of real Web page collections indicates our algorithm correctly extracted data and annotated the data schema.

Performance engineering of a Java-based e-commerce system 基于java的电子商务系统的性能工程

The development of enterprise Web applications has evolved from writing servlets using JDBC calls for database access to a component-based paradigm where database access is replaced by calling enterprise JavaBeans (EJB), a Java representation of business objects. Using this component-based paradigm, business logics are encapsulated in coarse-grain session beans, leaving servlets the role of a request dispatcher which converts HTTP requests for servlets into RMI/IIOP requests for session beans and invokes JSP for result presentation. The performance of such a multitier enterprise Web application is dominated by the performance of the EJB. We investigate a model-based approach for performance engineering of multitier enterprise Java applications. A layer queueing model comprising the layers of client applications, session beans, entity beans, and data sources is proposed. By taking into account network latency and RMI overhead, the model can be used to predict the delay-throughput performance of the system and to study issues related to deployment topology. As an example, a layered queueing model is created for an application framework for B2B e-commerce, a real world EJB application. A case study is presented to show the effect of database access delay to the tuning of the connection pool size of data sources.

A new CEMBS based on RSA signatures and its application in constructing fair exchange protocol 基于RSA签名的新型CEMBS及其在构建公平交换协议中的应用

Fairness is one of the basic requirements of e-commerce protocols and applications. CEMBS is proved to be an important cryptographic building primitive in constructing fair exchange protocols. In this paper the drawbacks of existing CEMBS-implementing methods are analyzed. A new CEMBS-constructing method based on RSA signature is proposed, which is proved to be simple, efficient and secure. Afterwards, a fair exchange protocol is built using the newly constructed CEMBS. And the devised scheme in this paper is the first efficient CEMBS based on RSA signatures.

Simulation models and their metainfo-management using RDF-based paradigms 使用基于rdf的范例的仿真模型及其元管理

In a catalogue for computer-based models the basic problem is that complex interdependencies between models must be addressed, which are dependent on an application's domain. Thus, when describing and exploiting models, researchers experience the proverbial needle-in-a-haystack routine. What is needed is a system similar to a library's card catalogue, such that metadata is captured in a central location that addresses sufficient model summary information and its interpretation. The goal is to develop such a catalogue system independent from an application domain for managing metadata and providing metainformation (metainfo) about computer-based models. Metainfo is by our view the logical conclusion of metadata. We address the construction of an ontology-based system from an application and architectural point of view. We explain why and how one should construct a RDF(S) based system for supporting collaboration via the Internet and intranets. The innovation of this solution is the integration of existing modelling applications by providing a set of Web service-based APIs with our platform. This enables to process metadata automatically without manual user interaction.

Building an e-learning platform by access grid and data grid technologies 利用接入网格和数据网格技术构建电子学习平台

Due to overall popularity of the Internet, e-learning has become a hot method of learning in recent years. Through the Internet, learners can freely absorb new knowledge without the restriction of time and place. Many companies have adopted e-learning to train their employees. The e-learning system can make an enterprise more competitive by increasing the knowledge of its employees. As we know, e-learning has become one of the most potential e-commerce businesses. At present, most e-learning environment architectures are in consideration of a single computer or server as its erecting foundation. As soon as its workload increases, the software and hardware need to be updated or renewed; this is a big burden to a company with insufficient budget. Thus, in this research we employ a kind of grid computing technology, called "access grid", to integrate the idle computer resources in an enterprise into an e-learning platform for substituting the purchase of costly high-level server and equipment. The access grid supports group-to-group communication via high-speed networking over the Internet. It provides high quality audio and real-time video interactive interface for e-learning users. All the hardware cost is reasonable so that companies or academies can easily set up their own access grid node. By using access grid technologies, enterprises can integrate their training materials into knowledge repository such as "data grid" as the e-learning VOD platform so that the knowledge can be shared and published more flexibly and widely.

Web service technology is changing the Internet to a platform of applications collaboration and integration. Reliability is a critical requirement for this platform. The main goal of failure recovery is to assure that minimum work is lost and normal execution can be continued. We look at the issue of failure recovery in Web services management systems, and propose an infrastructure to implement failure recovery capabilities in the Web services management systems.
