In this paper the potentially harmful impact of electromagnetic field generated by mobile phone $(mathbf{f}=mathbf{900 MHz})$ on the prooxidant/antioxidant balance in frontal brain cortex of male rats was estimated by means of analysis of the contents of markers of oxidative stress and membrane lipid peroxidation, as well as the activity of selected antioxidant enzymes. It was concluded that 4-week lasting exposure (4 minutes daily) of rats to electromagnetic field with physical parameters generated by such mobile phone causes in frontal brain cortex an increase in intensity of the process of membrane lipids peroxidation without stimulation of oxidative stress, with accompanying compensatory decrease in the activity of most of analyzed antioxidant enzymes except of catalase, probably due to excessive consumption.

Two main challenges face humanitarian rescue organisations during disaster events (a) gathering ground level intelligence of damage and required actions; (b) re-establishment of communications to aid coordination and allow people to alert their needs and position. Mobile phones may stop working during a disaster due to loss of core infrastructure or lack of capacity leading to a loss of communication for the vulnerable or those in need of help. First responders are also unable to relay information back to the Communication control. Re-establishment of communication is therefore critical and can be achieved through hotspot creation with ad-hoc drone networking. This paper investigates and evaluates different possible solutions: (a) Serval Mesh developed in partnership with the New Zealand Red Cross, allowing smart-phones to communicate; (b) Open Garden, which shares Internet connections between laptops, tablets and phones in a similar way to WiFi hotspots and (c) Software Defined Radio (SDR) with base transceiver station software for user triangulation through Global System For Mobile Communications (GSM). Communications have followed the World Radio Communication Conference (WRC) guidelines for terrestrial and satellite links.

Accurate Semisymbolic Analysis with Usage of 128-bit Arithmetics

The semisymbolic analysis generally requires meticulous algorithms from the point of view of accuracy of resulting poles and zeros, especially in the case of huge differences among their absolute values. In the paper, an optimal pivoting strategy is suggested for the algorithm which reduces general eigenvalue problem to the standard one in the case of both full- and sparse-matrix procedures. Using the pivoting, the precision of the poles and zeros increases considerably. However, it is still insufficient for a number of tasks, especially for radio frequency circuits where the poles and zeros are spread over many decades of magnitudes. As contemporary compilers of C++ and Fortran languages have built-in quad precision libraries, it is possible to further enhance the semisymbolic-analysis accuracy using this 128-bit arithmetics.
