A novel all-optical clock recovery scheme 一种新的全光时钟恢复方案

We experimentally demonstrate all-optical clock recovery (CR) from the nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) data without any preprocess measure. Multi-quantum-well (MQW) Fabry-Pérot semiconductor optical amplifier (FP-SOA) acts as dual role including both data format converter and clock recovery device. To achieve amplitude equalization of recovered clock pulses, a self-nonlinear polarization switching (SNPS) including the FP-SOA, two polarization controllers (PCs) and one polarization beam splitter (PBS) is employed. Using the presented scheme, stable and low jitter 35.80 GHz optical clock pulses were directly extracted out from input NRZ data. This scheme has some distinct advantages such as being transparent to data format, free preprocess, free pre-amplification, convenient tuning, good tolerance to long “0s” data, and good tolerance to wavelength drifting of input data.

Influence of cores' shape on coupling length of dual-core fiber 纤芯形状对双芯光纤耦合长度的影响

For the same given cores' area in three kinds of dual (circular, elliptical, egg-shaped) core fiber, the relationship of the coupling length with different wavelength is calculated and examined. The influence of the cores' shape and pitch in dual-core fiber on the modal field profile and coupling characteristics is discussed.

A passive Q-switched Yb-doped microstructure fiber (MF) laser is demonstrated using a GaAs wafer as the saturable absorber. A high Ytterbium-doped fiber with a core diameter of 21 µm and a numerical aperture of 0.04 was used as the active fiber. The large-diameter core allows for greater energy storage than conventional single-mode core designs and the small NA of the core ensures the good beam quality of the laser. A pulse duration as short as 80 ns was obtained with the maximum repetition rate of 830 Hz. The maximum average output power is 5.8 W at 1080 nm wavelength.

Investigation on the aging characteristics of high-power white LEDs under different stresses 不同应力下大功率白光led老化特性研究

We used two types of 1-W white LEDs, both of which had the structure of GaN chip with phosphor covered and packaged in metal PCB boards with laminated aluminum. Of the two types of packaging lens, one is made of hard silica gel, and the other is made of soft plastic. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the aging characters of high-power white LEDs under stresses. In accelerated life tests, the two types of white LEDs were treated with high temperature and DC current distinctively. The tendencies of the decay of luminous flux in the two conditions were basically the same, while the changing trends of the color temperature were different. The hard silica gel had better stability.

Refractive-sensitivity of mechanical long-period fiber grating in side-hole fiber 侧孔光纤中机械长周期光纤光栅的折射灵敏度

The refractive index sensor for use of a stress MLPG in a side-hole singlemode fiber is proposed. The principle of operation is based on using of a long-period grating that is made by pressing a plate with periodic grooves against a short length of side-hole fiber. The resonance wavelengths are shifted as the two side-holes of the fiber core were filled with the different the refractive index liquids. The results show that it is more sensitive than that of the conventional long-period fiber gratings.

Experimental research on secondary pulsation in an all-fiber pulsed amplifier 全光纤脉冲放大器中二次脉动的实验研究

In this paper, secondary pulsation phenomenon occuring in the pulsed amplifier system is investigated. We find that this phenomenon depends a lot on the quality of splicing between different fibers. By controlling the pump power and choosing the suitable splicing parameters, we can get stable high power pulsed lasing output.

A C+L band multi-wavelength fiber laser based on cascaded semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) was proposed, by using a high birefringence fiber loop mirror (Hi-Bi FLM) as wavelength filter. Experimentally, 26 wavengths spacing on 100GHz were obtained with more than 25dB SNR. The linewidth of each channel was 0.102nm.

Polarization-insensitive electro-optical modulator based on polymer-filled silicon cross-slot waveguide 基于聚合物填充硅交叉槽波导的偏振不敏感电光调制器

A silicon cross-slot waveguide filled with electro-optic polymer is proposed to release the polarization-dependent issue of the electro-optic modulator. There are two slots in both the horizontal direction and vertical direction, so this waveguide structure can confine both the TE and TM modes. The four silicon regions can be lightly doped as the electrodes. There is slanted electric field in the slot region when the voltages are applied on the electrodes. The electric field component act at principal optical axis whose electric-optic (EO) coefficient is r33 or r13 can be adjusted by changing the voltages on the four electrodes. With optimal voltages, the effective refractive index of the TE and TM modes can be changed equally. The Mach-Zehnder modulator based on cross-slot waveguide can achieve polarization-insensitive.

There are two slots in both the horizontal direction and vertical direction, so this waveguide structure can confine both the TE and TM modes. The four silicon regions can be lightly doped as the electrodes. There is slanted electric field in the slot region when the voltages are applied on the electrodes. The electric field component act at principal optical axis whose electric-optic (EO) coefficient is r33 or r13 can be adjusted by changing the voltages on the four electrodes. With optimal voltages, the effective refractive index of the TE and TM modes can be changed equally.
