Abstract The purpose of this article is to provide strategies for K-12 in-service physical education teachers to cultivate a culturally relevant physical education environment. First, an overview of the culturally relevant physical education (CRPE) framework is discussed. Next, practical examples and suggestions are provided to support teachers in engaging in all three components of CRPE. The continuous presence of culturally relevant teaching in the physical education setting is an on-going cycle that develops over time.

Abstract This article will simply expose tools and tricks for the reader to use if they so choose. The hope is that the reader relieves their fears of implementing the sports education model, applies this simplified model, and creates their own version to fit their specific classroom needs. This is not a one size fits all recipe for sports education, as it can be implemented in a successful way in many different forms, some very elaborate and some very simple, depending on your needs, your school's needs, and the practitioner's needs.

Abstract Teaching triple jump to middle and high school aged athletes might be challenging. This article discusses the basics of triple jump and how to best teach it. The authors suggest establishing a jumping foot first and then building on each phase of the jump: Beginning with the Hop phase, incorporating the Step phase next, and lastly, ending with the Jump into the pit. It is crucial to practice each phase with its preceding phase(s) so that athletes can clearly identify the transition between phases. To assist teaching this complex technique, a few important points are emphasized in the end of the article.

Abstract Outdoor adventure education (OAE) has been a passion of the author since being a student teacher. Currently, he serves both PETE majors and teaching OAE at a local high school. His dual perspective as a teacher of secondary students and PETE students has given him a unique lens on how PETE programs teach initial physical educators OAE. The findings of this article are takeaways from his collective experiences.

Abstract Differentiated Instruction is a method for providing students with an equitable teaching experience. This article presents a method for teaching by invitation using the ‘Hot Sauce’ method. This practical technique is discussed in detail with examples for implementation into physical education classes at all levels. Student choice and competition level are used in place of ability level or grouping students.

Abstract Helping athletes become their best is a constant challenge for all coaches. Having a model or blueprint for teaching skills and correcting errors is essential for quality coaching. The article explores the concepts associated with deep, deliberate, purpose practice and presents a model for teaching sport skill that we call DP2.

Abstract Youth in the United States are not getting the recommended daily 60 minutes of physical activity (PA), and childhood obesity is on the rise. Adequate PA is linked with numerous health benefits such as increased cardiorespiratory and muscular fitness and bone strength. Biking is a great opportunity for children of all ages to increase their PA and help reduce obesity. Some barriers to biking include lack of education and safety. Bike education can help reduce safety concerns and encourage children to bike (e.g., increase daily PA). This article includes resources for grants to implement biking programs, lesson ideas for bike education in schools, and ways to involve the community. There are also suggested events and activities to promote safe bicycling. The resources provided can help schools start a bicycle education program at their school and in their community.

Abstract Countries worldwide have imposed restrictions on social life and education to decrease the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Numerous interventions have been made in every country to ensure continued learning by utilizing distance education (DE) tools. Infrastructure and institutions have made arrangements to curtail the spread of infection while simultaneously minimizing learning loss, ensuring continuity of learning. However, physical education lessons have had the option to be conducted online the last few decades; the number of states allowing online physical education (OLPE) has grown rapidly since 2010. DE arrangements and studies on conducting physical education courses through online education suggest that a personalized system of instruction (PSI) can be determined. Further, adaptations of PSI may increase the effectiveness of DE. Using a volleyball course as example, this article elaborates on the availability of physical education and sports courses through DE by supporting PSI with several technologies.

Abstract Coaches require support to successfully navigate the integration of professional, interpersonal and intrapersonal knowledge to be effective within their environment. There is a need for coaches to have access to, and utilization of, a practical tool to identify and appraise elements of their coaching delivery. There is a wealth of literature on the role of coaches, development of a coaching philosophy, and the importance of the athlete–coach relationship. However, understanding and refining this research to assist in constructing meaningful heuristics that can support coaching delivery and decision making is not a strength for all coaches. Support for coach decision making within their environment(s) is important, especially for those operating without the guidance of mentors or support coaches to provide peer feedback.
