This paper explores the use of biodata as a selection method. Starting from the definition of the term, its content, as well as the elaboration of specific instruments and the validity of biodata use, this paper offers a holistic picture on biographical data used in selection, providing suggestions for practitioners as well as researchers.

The purpose of this study was to develop a scale for the perception of counterproductive work behaviors. Employees from four independent samples filled in the questionnaire (total N=390). Two studies were conducted. The first study aimed to item construction and exploratory factor analysis, whereas the second aimed to instrument validation and confirmatory factor analysis. The results confirmed a four factor scale (misuse of information, production deviance, absenteeism and withdrawal, as well as interpersonal counterproductive behavior). The scale has 20 items and can be applied to a wide range of organizations. Implications for managers and future research are also discussed.

Cronbach alpha coefficient is still commonly used in research dedicated to the development of psychologicaltests. However, there is a certain lack of understanding of the significance of real and, especially, has its limits. The article presents the fundamental postulates of classical test theory and analyzes, in this context, the mainissues affecting the calculation and interpretation of Cronbach alpha coefficient: unidimensionality, internal consistency, item number, characteristics of the data, the sampling error. Finally, are summarized recommendationsof good practices on the use and reporting Cronbach's alpha.

The present study was aimed at describing the behaviors of tunnel users in the event of a road-tunnel fire, and to determine the effect of stress on these behaviors. Another aim was to identify the causal explanationsoffered by tunnel users for fires and for non-evacuation behaviors after a fire alarm is given. Several fire scenarioswere presented to 217 participants, who were asked to predict their likely behavior in the situations described, and to give explanations for the fire's occurrence. The participants' perceived stress level was also measured usinga subscale taken from the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS; Lovibond, & Lovibond, 1995). The resultsshowed that the participants tended to adopt more risky behaviors in situations where traffic was moving freelythan in congested traffic. The users' perceived stress led them to adopt unsafe behaviors, but contrary to Hennessyand Wiesenthal's (1997) results, this relationship was stronger in free-flowing traffic than in a traffic jam. Someof the participants demonstrated a certain behavioral rigidity, tending to adopt identical behaviors regardless ofthe traffic situation. The behaviors stated for a given situation seem to be consistent, but they were not alwayssafety-conscious. And the more serious the fire, the more internal the explanations were. Finally, non-evacuationbehaviors were attributed mainly to internal factors that implicated the concerned individuals. Some suggestionsfor long-term preventive actions based on users' beliefs and representations are proposed

Prima este dedicată istoricului psihologiei muncii in România până in 1948, realizând o analiză separată a selecţiei si orientării profesionale, psihotehnicii si ergonomiei.

The paper discusses the cultural adaptation of the Self-Directed-Search Questionnaire (SDS – Holland’s test)in Romania, describing the translation and adaptation process, the structure of the Romanian normative sampleand the psychometric characteristics of the Romanian version of the measure. The paper alse addresses aspectslike the reliability of the measure – both as internal consistency and test-retest – as well as comparisons with theU.S. normative sample. Some of the positive implications of using the SDS for vocational counselling, derivedfrom its psychometric power, are pointed out.
