Color temperature is one of the most important factors when designing artificial lighting. This parameter is especially important to properly solve the visual task, as well as for the health and comfort of the artificial lighting users. More and more manufacturers take this fact into consideration and numerus luminaires have appeared on the market with the possibility of changing the color temperature depending on the visual task and application of the lighting system. The management and control of adjustable CCT lighting with intelligent systems allows for greater flexibility, multifunctionality and economy. The publication describes a method for calibrating a low-cost sensor used for CCT control and measurement.

As reported on a worldwide, there is a tendency to develop and implement smart substations, which basically change every single aspect of the well-known technological processes of production, transmission and distribution of electrical energy. Usually, the implementation of an intelligent substation is achieved by implementing intelligent primary high-voltage equipment and complex secondary devices subordinated to a hierarchical structure. Functional connections, information exchange and interoperability among the multitude of implemented intelligent modules is provided based on the IEC 61850 communication protocol. This report examines the main elements of each digital substation (DS), the international standards that relate to the construction and operation of the DS, and the types of structures related to the information flows in the DS.

The paper presents a study of the effects of in-service aging of composite silicone insulators, which are increasingly used in the overhead power lines of Bulgaria. The insulators were tested with power frequency high voltage according to the relevant standards. The obtained results are compared with test results for new insulators.

This publication presents a research on the Voltage Control Strategies for Distribution networks with Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Taking into account the network topology and the load and generation profiles some typical states are calculated using the STATUS power system analysis software. Furthermore, a quasi-dynamic analysis and test case with distributed photovoltaic generators (PVG) in a distribution network is performed in order to demonstrate the interaction of different converter interfaced DER and other network controlled elements such as under load tap changers. Based on the results obtained valuable conclusions and recommendations are made.

The passenger's safety is always at first. Nowadays metro transport requires prevention of passengers' access to the railway track. On one side this is for safety reasons and on the other - it is to guarantee a smooth and comfortable transport service. Passengers' safety on the platform is ensured via implementation of barrier (screen) systems. The report analyzes station barrier systems for passengers currently installed in Sofia Metropolitan. The aim is to provide structure details and the work principles of the various solutions, their advantages and disadvantages and the impact that they have on the operation. The Metropolitan of Sofia uses two kinds of passengers' barriers: Rope-type Screen Doors and Sliding Platform Screen Doors of half height. Both are tailored as per the relevant rolling stocks types and line signaling system for achieving an optimal balance between the safety objectives based on the corresponding capabilities of the line. The report addresses the safety level provided by passengers' barriers and their impact onto the timetable, meaning the time in addition to the train dwell time needed for the barrier system operation, (time for) reaction in case of obstacle, (time for) reaction in case corrective maintenance during operation. Passenger behaviors due to the different barrier structures, indications in case of problems, proposals for improvements are also analyzed.

The hybrid SAVe CUBE devices are one of the most prospective topologies in marine power systems. The use of the AC-DC-AC architecture concept is related to limiting the spread of higher voltage and current harmonics in the ship's power supply system caused by the powerful electronic converters. This is associated with an increased number of elements, which also changes the overall reliability indicators. The report presents a comparative analysis of reliability indicators in conventional and hybrid marine power systems. The results can be used as quantitative criteria for evaluating the probability of failures, the overall reliability of the system, defining the repair cycle periods, which will facilitate the operational maintenance of ships electrical power systems.

In modern power grids, one of the main issues in their operation is related to their reliability and provision of quality power supply to consumers. The requirements for the security, the operating regimes of the power distribution grids, the quality of electricity and the quality of the entire service of power supply are regulated by law. Regardless of the preventive measures, faults and accidents occur during the period of operation of the power distribution grids. For the purpose of analysis and control, the causes for accidents and the single outage duration and average durations of power outages are taken into account. The main factors determining the duration of the power outages are the type of fault, the facility type and the time for detecting the fault location. This publication focuses on some factors determining the detection time of the fault location on overhead power lines using optimization one-dimensional methods.

The paper deals with estimation procedure of the induction motor parameters using the manufacturer's technical data. The results are verified by simulations. Various motor tests are modelled in the verification process: dc-voltage test for stator resistance identification, no-load test, short-circuit test and under-load test simulation of the induction motor model. The model is based on the equivalent circuit of the motor, and its parameters are calculated using the methodology proposed in the paper.
