AiM86 — automation in manufacturing AiM86 -制造业自动化

The sra International Conference: AiM86 — Automation in Manufacturing, was held in The World Trade Centre in Singapore from 18–21 November 1986. The event was organised by the sra Singapore Robotics & Automation Association in conjunction with MetalAsia86, the 4th Asian International Machine Tool & Metalworking Show, AutomAsia86, the 3rd South East Asian International Manufacturing Technology & Robotics Show.

The conference was organised in six sessions: (1) Human Factors, (2) Automated Quality Assurance, (3) Sensory Systems, (4) Automated Manufacturing Systems i, (5) Automated Manufacturing Systems ii, (6A) Robotics, (6B) cad/cam. 36 papers were presented by internationally recognised experts.

We present below a report on the lectures given at the conference.

Apply force/torque sensors to robotic applications 将力/扭矩传感器应用于机器人应用

Over the last ten years the state-of-the-art in robotic force/torque sensors has been developed to a high degree in research laboratories. Unfortunately, such systems have not found much use outside of the laboratory because of high cost and sophisticated system software. This paper will present how the force/torque sensor has been implemented in robotic applications such as grinding/deburring, drilling and assembly for industry and military. Overload sensing and robot programming by use of force/torque sensors are also presented.

Ultrasonic distance measuring and imaging systems for industrial robots 工业机器人用超声波测距和成像系统

The development and implementation of Ultrasonic Sensor Systems for Industrial Robots is reviewed. The research developments concerning transducers, ranging and imaging at the University of Nottingham are presented. The ranging system possess a unique operating specification which allows long range measurement at adequate resolution and extremely fine resolution at closer distances. Initial evaluations of imaging suggest that an operating frequency of 200kHz gives a fair compromise between system resolution and absorption of sound energy.

In consideration of the growing importance of the application of ir in Austrian producing enterprises, the Austrian Federal Chamber of Commerce established a special department in 1982 with a view to:

  • 1.

    (a) convince enterpreneurs of the advantages of using high technologies, such as microelectronics, industrial robots, flexible manufacturing systems, cad/cam etc. and

  • 2.

    (b) assist and advise respective enterprises in making a decisioin as to whether and where to implement high technical products into their production and — in the affirmative — how to proceed further.

This contribution outlines various methods to ascertain most effectively

  • &#x02022;

    - where robots could be used in a certain enterprise

  • &#x02022;

    - how specific technical problems should be solved and

  • &#x02022;

    - the estimate of economy.
