In sociological taxonomy, scientists or intellectuals are categorized as a middle class whose role is to bridge the interests of the elite (power) and grassroots movements that want change. In carrying out the task of bridging, they often have to deal with power tools that lead to imprisonment. In a democracy, they have a vital role. They are the ones who can break the deadlock in political communication between elite interests and grass-root demands. The dysfunction of the middle class in a democratic country will destroy the integrity of a country; otherwise, the elite who pays attention to the pressure of the middle class will be able to maintain the integrity of a democratic country.

Like other branches of philosophy, there are also main problems in the philosophy of science: the characteristics. The characteristic problem ought to be solved to its fundamental nature, making it different from other branches of philosophy. Problems in the philosophy of science include, among others, the understanding of the basic concept and science, each of which has its own identity. Knowledge problems include, among others, the understanding of knowledge, sources of knowledge, the level of knowledge, the structure of knowledge, as well as the truth and error of knowledge. The problems in the philosophy of science are as complex as any other branch of philosophy. However, it is highly demanded that those who study the science problem cannot simply detach themselves from the philosophy of knowledge and metaphysics. Therefore, those who desire to study philosophy of science should approach these two branches of philosophy in the first place.

The study aimed to find out the use of The Humour Stories to improve the students' reading skills. The subject of this study was the seventh grade of An Nuriyah Islamic Junior High School 22 Jagakarsa in the academic year of 2018/2019, consisting of 25 students. The method of this study was a quantitative method with the design of a pre-experimental study. The data from the pre-test and post-test were analyzed statistically. This study showed that the average score of the students in the pre-test was 64.8, while the average score of students in the post-test was 80.4. This research analysis obtained that t-observation (to) of 1.997. Meanwhile, the t-table (tt) is 1.708 with a significant 5% which means that toto is higher than tt. So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected (1.997>1.708). It can be concluded that the use of the humor stories of students of An Nuriyah Islamic Junior High School 22 Jagakarsa of 7th-grade students enhanced reading skills.

This study aims to know how to implement a self-directed learning strategy in teaching reading narrative text in distance learning during covid 19 periods in ninth-grade students of SMP Yadika 12 Depok in the 2020/2021 school year. The data sources used are primary and secondary. Primary sources are data sources that directly provide data collection data where these sources are obtained from English language teachers. Meanwhile, secondary sources are data sources that do not directly provide data collection data where these sources are obtained from 49 students. This research method used a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach, so the authors conducted research directly to obtain in-depth information. The data collection techniques in this study used interviews and documentation. The research results in implementing a self-directed learning strategy in teaching narrative text in distance learning during Covid-19 determine the text to be read to practice reading skills. Then, through a guide made by the teacher, students practice independently.

In the instructional practice, it is necessary to clearly understand the objectives and scope of instructional in these two subjects so that there is no overlap. In addition, to measure the success of instructional and the right strategies, appropriate tests are required to become an efficient and effective instructional. The research method used in this study is the development research method in education by Borg and Gall (2007). Finding or developing a specific program facilitates and improves the quality of instructional outcomes for students participating in the Introduction to Statistics subject. From the results of observations of the teaching and instructional process for the Introduction to Statistics subject. Students unable to use statistical analysis are related to instructional problems, namely, instructional strategies that refer to the needs and characteristics. Conducting experimental research can be followed up by looking at the advantages of using instructional materials. The instructional materials are in books designed based on student needs, based on a compilation of materials in several textbooks.

Education is critical in shaping the character and culture of the nation. Education functions to improve human abilities, following Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System in Article 3, which states that national education functions to develop capabilities and shape the character and civilization of a dignified nation in order to educate the nation's life, including aspects of hard skills, and soft skills. One way to hone skills is to carry out character education since school by paying attention to the local wisdom of an area. Character education in Tri Hita Karana (THK) based schools is character education that applies the character of a balanced relationship between school residents and the creator of God Almighty, the balance of relations between fellow school members, and the balance of relations between school residents and the overall school facilities and infrastructure. Character education in THK local wisdom-based schools needs to be developed systematically to increase local excellence, national interest, justice, and international competition in world civilization. By applying the local wisdom of THK, schools can develop into a basis for developing the character and personality of human resources (HR) with high work skills, intense work and learning culture, and a culture of serving people sincerely and reasonably.

The airport is the entrance to an area, region, or country and is the primary means of air transportation. Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport is a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) under the auspices of PT Angkasa Pura II. Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport has a public service standard policy as a form of commitment to users. In implementing public service standards policies, there are several challenges in improving the quality of public services. This study aims to identify and describe the implementation of public service standards policies at Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport. This study uses descriptive research methods through a qualitative approach. In collecting data, the researcher used the method of interview, observation, documentation using the theory of Van Meter and Van Horn. The theory consists of variables that can determine the effectiveness of implementation, namely policy standards and objectives, relationships between organizations, resources, characteristics of implementing agents, social, political, and economic conditions, and disposition of implementers. This research shows that the orientation of the implementation of public service standard policies at Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport is public satisfaction. The airport manager makes some effort, such as the provision of digital-based facilities, service efficiency, availability of facilities that are orientated to standards, and accordance with the availability of resources, characteristics of implementer organization, economic, social, and political conditions. However, the airport management is still experiencing problems in several aspects, such as coordination with related organizations and partnerships that have not been effective and the political impact of refusing to change the airport's name by the local community.
