When an aircraft encounters lightning, the resulting transients that appear on aircraft wiring contain several components. This paper discusses the interrelation between the length of a thin-wire scatterer and the magnitude and waveshape of the current induced on the scatterer by the EM field of a fixed waveshape, relatively slow rise time, double­ exponential EMP.

A Simple Model for Radiation and Scattering from Wires and Surfaces 导线和表面辐射和散射的简单模型

A new method for evaluating the free space im­ pedance functions which appear in the method of mements for linear and aperture antennas is described. The results are simple expressions in closed form suitable for machine computation. The impedance functions were evaluated using two computer programs. The calculated results are in good agreement with existing data. Computation time is short and the results are accurate.

Filter Pin Insertion Loss Under Nonideal Conditions 非理想条件下滤波器引脚插入损耗

Several articles have been published^ over the past few years cautioning designers not to rely on insertion loss data for filters derived by the methods of MIL-STD-220A.2 Filters employed in actual applica­ tions may behave quite differently than in a 50-ohm system. In addition, insertion loss may change as a result of saturation of ferrite elements or devaluation of capacitive elements at high temperature. The ef­ fects of these nonideal conditions on the performance of a typical pi-section filter pin have been investi­ gated. The techniques presented here may be used to evaluate other types of filter pins or, possibly, gen­ eral types of filters. However, particular attention must be paid to distributed parameter impedance or electromagnetic resonance effects which may not be significant in the compact filter pin, but may play a vital role in other filters.

Susceptibility of Home Entertainment Equipment to High Power Interference 家庭娱乐设备对高功率干扰的敏感性

Measurements were conducted to define the suscep­ tibility of television and AM/FM receivers to high pow­ er electromagnetic fields. Fifty television receivers and twenty AM/FM receivers, representing different manufacturers, chassis configurations, and circuit fea­ tures, were subjected to pulsed UHF and S-band fields 2 2 at peak field strengths up to 38 dBm/m and 54 dBm/m , respectively. The susceptibility of the test specimen receivers was determined using the threshold of inter­ ference criterion, i.e., as that field strength which produced a detectable effect in receiver operation. Measurement results show that the average UHF and S-band interference thresholds for the test specimen television 2 2 receivers were approximately +30 dBm/m and +35 dBm/m , respectively. For the AM/FM receivers, the average UHF 2 and S-band thresholds were approximately +7 dBm/m and 2 +20 dBm/m , respectively. The interference thresholds for individual receivers varied as much as 40 dB between different samples.

The Response of Various Interface Configurations in the Presence of a Broadband High Impedance Noise Source 宽带高阻噪声源存在时不同接口结构的响应

The setup used to obtain the interface noise perfor­ mance data is shown in Figure 1. The frequencies of the square wave train transmitted through the interface are 100 KHz and 1 MHz. The driverreceiver combinations used are listed in Table I. The noise pulse waveform produced by the noise source is illustrated in Figure 2. These pulses were generated at 30 Hz and 60 Hz.
