Structured Method for Business Process Improvement 业务流程改进的结构化方法

Based on the consulting experience in several process improvement projects and existing literature in the area the authors present a structured method to improve an existing process. This removes the ambiguity in identifying the data and information required to analyze a business process and in selection of suitable process improvement pattern. In general two consultants working on same improvement project may not reach the same results. This framework will help in achieving same recommendations consistently. The paper consists of method for analysis of existing process, data and information requirements for process improvement, and an approach to identify business process redesign methods.

Cloud Based Next Generation Service and Key Challenges 基于云的下一代服务和关键挑战

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) defined cloud computing as a model that enables on-demand access of computing resources. These resources are provisioned rapidly, without unnecessary client-provider interaction or management. Consumers of cloud get everything, such as software, platform and even the computing infrastructure as a service, rather than an on-premise deployed product. The cloud is perceived to be the game-changer of this decade as it offers a flexible, on-demand and elastic delivery method for the business especially services.To realize the potential and promise of the cloud, we need to step back and revisit the entire lifecycle of a service from six dimensions, namely the way a service is i) designed, ii) engineered, iii) deployed, iv) measured, v) managed and vi) experienced. This will help us identify the key concerns and barriers to its wide scale adoption. In this paper, we propose the notion of "next generation service" that embraces cloud computing as its backbone. Then we describe each of these six aspects and identify a set of important technical challenges that hinders the complete realization of the next generation service. These challenges are still unresolved to a large extent. We believe that a satisfactory solution to these challenge will largely help in making the benefits of the next generation service available for a wider consumption.

Hadoop Compatible Framework for Discovering Network Topology and Detecting Hardware Failures 用于网络拓扑发现和硬件故障检测的Hadoop兼容框架

We have implemented a Hadoop compatible framework that helps in detection of suspected hardware failures in DataNodes within a Hadoop cluster and in signalling the nodes accordingly. Based on the status of the various hardware components of the DataNodes, the master node signals the DataNode so that appropriate actions can be taken. In a Hadoop cluster, the knowledge of the network is important for the master node to configure itself to meet varying needs of the DataNodes. It is important to keep track of the current topology of the Hadoop network and track the status of the network services in Hadoop. We have also added the functionality to discover the network topology in a Hadoop cluster. This discovered topology information will be useful in performing load balancing in the network, or in making intelligent decisions in data replication in case of node failures.

Technology Independent UI Framework for Service Providers 服务提供者的技术独立UI框架

Business agility is the key driver for successful enterprises. This is very common in the service industry where service provider has to develop the service and keep it up to date with the technology and industry trends. We present a framework which we created to focus on business feature development at the client side (browser), isolating developers from rapid changes in UI technology. This allowed us for a quick movement to a new UI platform with minimal changes in the existing logic. We demonstrate the importance of such a framework and the challenges faced during the framework development. We also reference some of the open platforms which have developed a framework similar to us and how they won over their competitors. Finally, we compare the cost of developing the framework with the cost of business agility.

New Model on Cluster Competitiveness in Tourism Industry 旅游产业集群竞争力的新模式

The tourism cluster, presents a more positive potential than other clusters in contributing to India's growth. The natural endowments and cultural heritage of India provide a solid foundation for tourism cluster's development. Lack of innovation, safety and environmental standards have led to inability to capture higher-value demand. This low-value demand has limited the incentives for new investments in infrastructure, discouraging innovation and adoption of best practices. Indiaâs government, industry and institutions for collaboration must break the vicious cycle to enable tourism in India to become more competitive and to emerge as a leading cluster driving Indiaâs over-all economy.

Bridging the Economic Divide through Service Innovations 通过服务创新弥合经济鸿沟

Service Innovations have played an important role in enabling social initiatives and in many cases have facilitated bridging the economic divide. In this paper we examine a few successful case studies in the context of developing economies, which have implemented sustainable service innovations. The motivation behind the paper is to understand how technology driven service innovations are bridging the economic divide and the characteristics of sustainable business models emerging out of the technology driven service innovations. We also discuss the patterns and derive lessons for the future.

Application of Value Based Requirement Prioritization in a Banking Product Implementation 基于价值的需求优先排序在银行产品实现中的应用

This paper describes the need for Value Based Requirement Prioritization (VBRP) in Core Banking transformation programs. We describe the VBRP tool selected for this purpose and how it was customized for use in a large product implementation in a bank. In the original VBRP tool developed before this experience we had hierarchical prioritization for various levels for requirements like modules, sub modules and requirements but we did not have goal hierarchies. We now came to know that hierarchies are also needed for goals and hence we introduced "value levers" and goals as two levels of the goal hierarchy. Also based on experience from the implementations of the product at various banks we came up with an exhaustive set of 22 goals for core banking transformation projects and used this knowledge to customize the generic VBRP tool for Core banking product implementations. This paper will help one understand the concept behind VBRP and get expertise to customize the concept to take care of special needs of projects in other domains.
