Cloudlet-Based Multi-lingual Dictionaries 基于cloudlet的多语言字典

Multilingual dictionaries on mobile devices with voice inputs generally require Internet connectivity, and such an application is resource intensive as well. The proposed cloudlet-based dictionary solution uses a system design where a nearby computer is used as a "cloudlet" to relieve the mobile device of most of the computational load. It does not require the type of expensive hardware and connectivity needed for classical cloud-based solutions. Our prototype application supports six languages for translation, but the framework, and the vocabularies used, are easily extensible and configurable. A user of our system can input a word in one language by typing or utterance, and get the corresponding word in the desired language. Our work does not require continuous internet connectivity and is not affected by WAN latency. With continuous connectivity being a luxury, this solution can be used to provide language translation in scenarios with limited Internet connectivity or bandwidth, and also in specialized and smaller settings where the complexity and expense of a standard cloud deployment is not feasible.

UNNOTI: Toolkit for Rural Service Modeling 农村服务建模工具包

Services science aims towards suggesting methodological and tool support for managing services for various application scenarios. In this paper, it is demonstrated that the services science vision can be realized by using formal modeling and analysis techniques for the design of functionality of any kind, irrespective of the context whether such functionality is delivered on computing platforms or by humans. The service management problem is discussed in rather an unusual context of rural service management in developing nations. This choice of domain is motivated by two factors. The fact that such a domain is rarely referred in existing literature, it presents greater modeling and analysis challenges. The success of the proposed methodology in such context would pave the way towards applying the same to any other services setting. Besides, success in this domain can have significant social impact. Three specific results are documented in this paper. First, it is demonstrated how rural service architectures can be effectively modeled. Second, it is proposed how a QoS monitoring infrastructure might be devised for this domain (addressing special challenges, such as the need to reliably estimate component measures from more aggregated measures). Lastly, it is discussed how sophisticated QoS monitoring (leveraging techniques from complex event processing) can be used to trigger, and constrain, service redesign, leading to an integrated service design life-cycle. In addition this paper introduces UNNOTI, a simple and effective online form based toolkit for Service modeling, QoS monitoring, and service redesign which manages a repository of service designs, and the custom-designed functionality for QoS monitoring and estimation, as well as service proximity analysis, the tool uses the Prover9 first-order logic theorem prover for performing the goal realization test that is required for service redesign. The toolkit developed for modeling agricultural procurement services and can be applicable to model other rural services. The toolkit is developed using JSP and MYSQL in Windows environment.

Any service industry and specifically Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry faces multiple challenges in regards to employee motivation, talent retention and job related issues. The engagement of the employees has been identified as one of the important element to manage these challenges. Gamification is an emerging concept that helps in improving user engagement and user experience. This paper proposes a method of applying Gamification in BPO industry to increase the employee engagement and thus manage the employee related challenges encountered in BPO or any service industry.

Social Network Evolution: A Case Study of UK Directors 社会网络演化:以英国董事为例

Social network can be seen as a dynamic process of creating and breaking down relationships among network members. The network evolution is of major interest to researchers in this area due to discovering patterns of structural changes in the network. In this study, the evolution of UK directors' social network is examined. The study carried out on a systematic analysis of network properties and evolution factors. The network properties include shortest path, number of shared affiliations, cyclic closure and triadic closure property. It is observed that directors who are not connected directly in specific year and have only a single intermediary between them are more likely to form a connection in the future than the directors with two intermediaries. Moreover, the number of mutual friends increases the chances of a connection between the directors in future.

Exploiting the Values of Shared Services 挖掘共享服务的价值

Shared services is an organizational culture of sharing and innovation across the organization. It enables the sharing of services by functions of organization such as Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology through a common mechanism of a shared services centre. Delivery of services is through Information and Communication Technology infrastructure. Shared services increases productivity through better customer experience and hence control the cost. Though, Shared services is not a new concept, it has not been exploited yet by the organizations of all industry sectors. This paper discusses possible pitfalls for the unsuccessful use of shared services and suggests the majors to overcome. A maturity model is suggested as a guideline for making shared services successful.

Managing Risks in Financial Markets: A Market Simulation Approach 金融市场风险管理:市场模拟方法

Globalization has caught up with both developed and emerging financial markets. Significant technological advancements have been made to keep with the expansion of financial markets. Trading mechanisms and platforms have been upgraded with the use of technology, but the inherent risks and its impact on the markets are still not completely understood. This paper emphasizes on the increasing use of technology in financial markets and identifies the potential risks accompanied with its usage. It also proposes a design for a market simulator and suggests the requirements a market simulator should have in order to accommodate the richness and complexity in the structure of financial markets. Finally, the mechanisms to observe how effectively the simulation works are discussed.

Aggregating Bills and Invoices on Cloud for Anytime Anywhere Access: A Sustainable System 在云上聚合账单和发票,随时随地访问:一个可持续的系统

Access to cloud storage devices and services (IaaS or RaaS) are getting popular because of their anytime-anywhere flexibility and low cost. Cloud storage enables networked online storage where data is stored in virtualized pools of storage units. These units are usually managed by third parties. It is being used for the purpose of storing music files, presentations, statements, bills and other important documents. Organizations like Google, Amazon, Rackspace, and Dropbox are providing on-cloud storage. Besides organizations this service is gaining popularity among end-users too. Typically a user scans his important documents and store at the subscribed space. Later these documents can be accessed using an internet browser. Since user manages his own documents, there are chances that certain important documents are missed out. Hence we need an automatic storage system which can save these bills and invoices at the targeted location as soon as they are generated. In this article we are presenting the simplified model along with the improved process flow chart and architecture details. The proposed system would reduce the chances of missed documents and unnecessary troubles of scanning them. Additionally whenever required the user can provide the access code of the particular bill to the concerned authority for any verifications and approvals. This would also help to save the printing and paper cost for the retailer as well as for the user, further contributing towards the environment and sustainability. Using the proposed system the user can simply point to that URL and hence he/she need not print the bliss. This would also prevent the production of frauds and forged bills.

ICT Solution for Managing Electronic Health Record in India 印度管理电子健康记录的ICT解决方案

Government of India is planning to spend 2.5 percent of GDP in Public Healthcare during Twelfth Five Year Plan (2012-2017). It has been well recognized by the Government that IT would play a major role in achieving the intended health goals and improving the overall health status and services in India. Individuals' health data is the key source for Government to assess the healthcare status of the country. This paper proposes an ICT (Information Communication and Technology) solution to capture, manage and track individual's health data in a phased manner. This health data will be exposed to various health management information systems for further usage and analysis. Analytics on data will help in tracking health goals against measurable targets, real time disease surveillance, in pattern analysis and in identifying community needs of healthcare services. Proposed scalable, reliable and highly economical solution is primarily based on open source software and commodity hardware.

Analysis and Detection of Modern Spam Techniques on Social Networking Sites 社交网站上现代垃圾邮件技术的分析与检测

The modern Web has become a collaboration and communications platform with the advent of social networks. Apart from attracting millions of users, the popularity of social networking communities has also attracted spammers who can abuse and misuse the rich information in these sites using sophisticated attack techniques. In this paper we have described four popular modern techniques used by attackers to spam social networking sites: clickjacking [1], malicious browser extensions via drive-by-downloads [2], URL shorteners [3] and socially engineered script injection [4]. We have analyzed click-jacking and malicious browser extensions in detail, evaluating existing solutions to detect/prevent them. We observed that the existing solutions for clickjacking fail in some common use case scenarios. Therefore, we proposed enhancements that help detecting clickjacking attacks in those failed scenarios. We also proposed a declarative security policy to prevent malicious browser extension attacks. We implemented chrome extensions to validate both of our proposals in a test bed social network, which we have setup using an open source social networking engine. We believe our proposals are helpful to strengthen the security of social networks in general and the Web platform as a whole.

Wish-List Based Shopping Path Discovery and Profitable Path Recommendations 基于愿望清单的购物路径发现和有利可图的路径推荐

Retail customers find shopping in huge retail malls stressful due to various reasons such as being unable to locate the items, overcrowded stalls and long queues. In this paper, we present a solution to determine optimal shopping paths to locate the items based on the wish-list of a customer. We developed a graph theory based approach to discover shopping paths based on the shelf-item layout and customer's purchase patterns. We also propose an efficient approach to recommend profitable shopping paths to cross-sell potential buy-in items close to base shopping path. Our approach also facilitates updating the item list and discovering the paths dynamically while shopping. The proposed solution provides enriched shopping experience to customers.
