This paper presents a concept of the Energy Efficient and Enhanced-type Data-centric Network (E3-DCN). For future network technology, the Contents-centric Network (CCN) is widely studied. DCN is an extended version of CCN. M2M communication and mobility of the data are supported. In the enhanced-type DCN, a user requests data name or identifier to the network. If the exactly matched requested data are not found in the network, the network constructs the requested data. E3-DCN provides an energy efficient contents delivery network on the network virtualization platform.

The performances of both audio-visual content and systems are often evaluated by the sense of presence, which can be divided into two aspects: content presence and system presence. In our previous study, we constructed neural-network-based Kansei estimation models to evaluate content presence. Herein we aim to incorporate system presence into the Kansei models. We initially examined five audio reproduction methods, which simulate different systems, and conducted subjective evaluation experiments using 12 audio-visual content items. The experiments indicate the audio reproduction method influences both the audio-only and audio-visual conditions, but the effect is larger in the audio-only condition. Thus, we introduced four features related to the spatial impression of sound as new inputs into the previous Kansei estimation models. The expanded models successfully estimated both the content presence and system presence regardless of the condition. Hence, these models can quantitatively estimate the sense of presence in both audio-visual content and systems.

This paper presents a heterogeneous network interconnection model based on a kind of translucent routing gateway and Linux virtual device to tackle with the communication issue about heterogeneous communication between various devices and Internet in the vehicular networks. In this model, an in-vehicle CAN node is regarded as a usual node in the Internet and will be assigned an IPv6 address and a MAC address as well. This mechanism will make the external terminals connect to these nodes without the perception of the in-vehicle gateway, which will implement the remote condition monitoring and fault diagnosis on a specified unit in the in-vehicle networks. Experiment result shows that this model may establish the communication between the nodes and various devices in the heterogeneous networks.

It has recently been recognized that a method of evaluating audio-visual systems from the viewpoint of Kansei information is necessary for the development of high-presence audio-visual equipment. In this work, it is shown that the Kandoh, which is one aspect of Kansei information that considers various emotions, evoked by audio materials depends on the channel configuration of multichannel audio (MCA). Audio materials reproduced by eight loudspeaker arrangements (fourteen reproduction conditions) were evaluated by using a Kandoh grading scale. Then, a model to estimate the degree to which Kandoh is emphasized by spatial sound impressions is proposed. The relationship between the degree of Kandoh and the physical properties of the reproduced sound was investigated using multiple regression analysis. As a result, the degree of Kandoh could be estimated from physical properties.

Learning is essential for an autonomous agent to adapt to an environment. One method that can be used is learning through trial and error. However, it is impractical because of the long learning time required when the agent learns in a complex environment. Therefore, some guidelines are necessary to expedite the learning process in a complex environment. Imitation of the behavior of other agents who have already adapted to the environment would shorten an agent's learning time. Thus, imitation can be used by agents as a guideline for learning. In this study, we propose a computational model of imitation and autonomous behavior. We expect that an agent can reduce its learning time through imitation. The actions that an agent performs are represented by a set of features such as the type, location, and object of an action. The agent tends to imitate the similar actions of other agents, and the similarity between actions is calculated, which is indicative of the importance of each feature. The proposed model is evaluated using a dining table simulator. The experimental results indicate that the proposed model can adapt to the environment faster than a baseline model that learns only through trial and error, and that the proposed model can shorten the learning time further if the importance of each feature can be adjusted by learning.

We have been using animation creation to stimulate students' interest in programming. We proposed a method to measure a beginner's programming ability and investigated the animation programs created by these beginners over several years. The function point (FP) and lines of code (LOC) methods were used to quantitatively evaluate the programming ability. In this study, we focused on the relationship between LOC and FP. The LOC/FP indicates the relationship between the number of lines and the number of functions in the program. To investigate the relationship, cluster analysis was used to divide the animations into groups.

Distributed constraint optimization problems (DCOP) have attracted attention as a means of resolving distribution problems in multiagent environments. The authors has proposed a multiplex method targeting the improved efficiency of a distributed nondeterministic approximate algorithm for distributed constraint optimization problems. The multiplex method targeting the improved efficiency of a distributed nondeterministic approximate algorithm have been proposed for distributed constraint optimization problems. Since much of the computation time is used to transmit messages, improving efficiency using a multiplex computation of distributed approximate algorithms might be feasible, presuming that the computation time of each node or a small change in message length has no direct impact. Although it is usually impossible to guarantee that the approximation algorithm can obtain the optimal solution, the authors managed to do so, using a theoretically determined multiplex method. In addition, the authors shows the feasibility of an optimal solution attainment rate of 0.99 by an experiment using a Distributed Stochastic Search Algorithm.

Advances in technology have attracted more e-banking users in an e-Commerce context. Measuring service quality enhances delivering superior services to achieve competitive advantages. Studies on Internet service quality provide an adequate framework for measuring web site interactivity. However, no consensus exists to date regarding electronic service quality dimensions. Antecedents of service quality are better conceived than their components in an offline context. However, no study has proven a similar phenomenon in an online context. The research findings of antecedence constructs (system quality, information quality, and cognitive trust) affect e-SQ. Consequence constructs (perceived value, affective trust, satisfaction and loyalty) with the mediator of e-SQ are also examined.

Paper reports on the evolution of agent-based simulation and control system called MAST. The system was designed originally for agent-based simulation of product routing but over the years matured into a generic purpose manufacturing simulation and control tool featuring real-time connectivity to legacy PLCs, ontology-based dynamic scheduling, advanced diagnostics, etc. Paper describes MAST architecture, behavior of agents and capabilities for dynamic reconfiguration. In addition, two examples of application of MAST to real problems from manufacturing domain are given. The latest trend of exploitation of semantic technologies in industrial agents is discussed.
