often small and skin colored, and located anywhere on the body surface area despite mostly seen in the axillary and neck. Acrochordons are also known by names such as fibroepithelial polyp, skin tags, soft fibroma. It is one of the most common skin lesions.1 They are stalked lesions which are often seen in the neck and armpit.2 Several studies have revealed an association of acrochordons with conditions such as obesity, diabetes mellitus, atherogenic lipid profile, acromegaly and Crohn’s disease.3 Acrochordons are generally more common in overweight individuals. It has been suggested that hyperinsulinemia and increased leptin levels may play a role in the development of acrochordon in overweight individuals.4 It has been reported that acrochordons are closely associated with conditions leading to hyperinsulinemia such as metabolic syndrome (MetS) and may play a role in the early diagnosis of MetS.3,5 Acanthosis nigricans is common in obese and diabetic patients, therefore it is likely to be associated with acrocordon.6

Objective: Rosacea, a chronic inflammatory skin di- sease, is known to be associated with various systemic disorders. Ho-wever, limited data are available on the association between rosacea and renal diseases. The objective of this study was to evaluate serum creatinine, cystatin C and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) levels in patients with rosacea without any systemic diseases. Material and Methods: A prospective, case-control study was planned to investigate the relationship between rosacea and renal involvement by evaluating serum creatinine, cystatin C and NGAL levels. Results: A total of 38 patients with rosacea and 45 healthy controls were included. Statistically significant differences in serum creatinine and cysta- tin C levels were noted between the patient and control groups (respectively p=0.012, p<0.001). No statistically significant difference was shown in the values of NGAL between the two groups (p=0.235). A positive correlation was noted between serum creatinine and serum cystatin C levels (r=0.434; p<0.001). The serum levels of cystatin C were positively correlated with disease duration (r=0.511, p<0.001). Conclusion: Serum creatinine and cystatin C levels may provide early detection of renal dysfunction in rosacea.

ABS TRACT Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptom (DRESS) is a life threatening adverse drug reaction. A 58-year-old female patient presented to our hospital with nausea and vomiting 2 weeks after elective coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). She had used metoprololol, asetilsalycilic asit and furosemide after the oper- ation. Blood tests showed neutropenia, low eosinophil levels, elevated liver biomarkers. Our case had fever, a morbilliform rash, bone mar- row failure and hepatitis. Clinical (fever, exanthema, facial oedema) and laboratory (pansitopenia with liver and pulmonary involvement) findings raised the suspicion of DRESS and the patient was started on 1 mg/kg intravenous (IV) prednisone daily and IV immunoglobulin (IVIG) at 2 g/kg. She died on the the seventh ICU day. DRESS syndrome is a fatal drug hypersensitivity reaction with cutaneous and systemic involvements. Multidisciplinary care is important for a suc-cessful treatment.

inhibition. the between the clinical severity of acne and quality of life. Material and Methods: A total of 100 patients diagnosed with acne vulgaris were included in the study. The patients' age, gender, duration of the disease, and local and systemic treatments that were received be-fore and acne severity scores were recorded. Acne quality of life ques- tionnaire (Acne-QoL) was applied and total scores were determined. Results: The average of the Acne-QoL scores was 16±5.22, and there was no statistically significant difference between the mild-moderate and severe acne groups in terms of quality of life (p>0.05). Conclu- sion: Although acne affects the physical appearance, it may also greatly affect the quality of life of patients in mild and moderate clinical types.
