The conspicuous, mostly willow-inhabiting polypore Trametes suaveolens is a threatened species in Northern Europe. In Estonia it is listed as Critically Endangered, and has not been found since 1984. We report an apparently viable population discovered in Central Tallinn, inhabiting old Salix fragilis and S. alba trees and stumps along ca. 1.5 km of the Baltic seashore. The host trees are prone to removal due to city development and park care reasons. We discuss potential conservation measures for sustaining this unique population in the urban conditions.   Pajutagel (Trametes suaveolens) Eestis taasleitud Peamiselt remmelgatel silmatorkavaid viljakehi moodustav pajutagel (Trametes suaveolens) on Põhja-Euroopas ohustatud liik.

We present an updated checklist for Konevets Island (Leningrad Region, Russia). The revealed lichen biota comprises 435 species, including 378 lichens, 46 lichenicolous fungi and 11 non-lichenized saprobic fungi, of which 31 species (27 lichens and 4 lichenicolous fungi) are known only from collections made by Veli Räsänen (1917, 1938). Acremonium hypholomatis is reported for the first time for Russia; Caloplaca soralifera, Trapelia corticola, and Muellerella lichenicola for Northwestern European Russia; and Bacidia vermifera, Lecanora mughicola, Micarea contexta, Pyrenochaeta xanthoriae, Rhizocarpon disporum, Stigmidium squamariae and Xylographa difformis for Leningrad Region. From lichenological point of view, the most valuable habitats of Konevets Island are old-growth spruce forests. The studied lichen biota is rich and diverse and exceptionally well-preserved in comparison to the mainland part of Karelian Isthmus. It definitely deserves protection.

The list of mosses of the Pasvik State Nature Reserve (Pasvik Reserve) consists of 197 species. Here we summarize all available data on the diversity of mosses of the Pasvik Reserve, including approximately 800 specimens collected by the authors. Stereodon pallescens and Tayloria serrata are in the Murmansk Region only known from the Pasvik Reserve. Seven species are red-listed in the Murmansk Region (Bryum cyclophyllum, Buxbaumia aphylla, Encalypta streptocarpa, Psilopilum laevigatum, Tayloria serrata, Tayloria splachnoides and Tetrodontium repandum). Tetrodontium repandum is included in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation and Tayloria splachnoides is red-listed in Europe. The Pasvik Reserve gives a good possibility for the protection of rare mosses.

Forty-one species of lichens and two lichenicolous fungi are reported from the Pskov Region. Of them, thirty-nine species are new for the region, including Lempholemma dispansum – a rare species with scattered distribution, previously recorded only once in the European Russia in the 19th century. The most important findings are confined to ancient limestone outcrops and old manor parks: these habitats are also promising for further investigations, taking in account high level of anthropogenic transformation of the Pskov Region.

Species composition of desmid algae and their habitat preferences in water bodies of Ekaterinburg city were studied during the 2013–2017. Thirty-seven species and subspecific taxa which belong to 12 genera and 2 families were identified, of which 17 species are new for the eastern macroslope of the Middle Urals. Canonical correspondence analysis, which was performed to reveal habitat preferences, demonstrates that the majority of analyzed species prefer quarry lakes, ponds and overgrown lake shores, contrary to fens and rivers.
