The need to adopt sustainable practices and environmentally friendly products has compelled organisations to redefine their existing processes and adopt lean and green concepts to attain sustainability. This paper conducts a literature review of existing lean and green concepts in literature to identify gaps and thus, provide new direction for research. The paper presents a concept map with seven research areas comprising of different functions and industries. It outlines potential areas of future research so as to throw more light on how organisations can adopt green and lean practices for sustainable development. It also seeks to provide inputs to industry practitioners and aid them to design strategies for effectively adopt lean and green concepts.

From the perspective of the agency and stewardship theories for explaining the relationship between corporate governance and firm performance, this study examines the impacts of CEO duality and board size on the firm performance. We assess the association between CEO duality, board size and firm performance of top 200 companies listed on the Vietnam Stock Exchange (VSE) over 2014-2015. Our findings show that: 1) CEO duality limits the monitoring function of the board, and a large board size promotes dominance and power of leaders that create more conflicts; 2) the number of executive directors in the top management positively influences firm performance. Findings of our study certainly help policymakers and other stakeholders understand the relationship between CEO duality, board size and firm performance. Overall, this study highlights the CEO duality and the relationship of board size and firm performance in a nation with less protection of minority shareholders.

Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is a continuous improvement methodology that aims to reduce the costs of poor quality, improve the bottom-line results and create value for both customers and shareholders. The purpose of this paper is to explore the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for LSS in different sectors, such as manufacturing, services, etc. The following research is based on a systematic literature review of various papers that were published on lean, Six Sigma and LSS in well-known academic databases of the last 20 years. Systematic SWOT analysis of LSS is cited in this paper. In this paper the gaps and limitations of common factors and the many opportunities of LSS in the near future are discussed including the need to explore this topic in future research. The paper is one of the first systematic literature reviews to explore the critical failure factors of LSS and discuss the top failure factors from different angles, i.e., countries' evolution, organisations' size (small- and medium-sized enterprises and large organisations) and industry nature.

Complexities bring risks in projects. Political risk involves political instability in the project domain, and lessens the chances of return on investment. In this study, we aim to investigate the impact of the political risk on project success. Data were collected from project-based organisations (information technology, construction and other developmental projects) operating in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test model fitness. Results of the study suggest that political risk has an astounding effect on project industry and negatively effects manager's stress resulting in project failure. But, if there is some risk avoidance strategy against political risk adopted by the manager, then the stress of the manager will also be lessened with fewer chances of project failure. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
