In order to improve the accuracy and efficiency of graphical method and maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) in Mixed Weibull distribution parameters estimation, Graphical-GA combines the advantage of graphical method and genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed. Firstly, with the analysis of Weibull probability paper (WPP), mixed Weibull is identified to data fitting. Secondly, the observed value of shape and scale parameters are obtained by graphical method with least square, then optimizing the parameters of mixed Weibull with GA. Thirdly, with the comparative analysis on graphical method, piecewise Weibull and two-Weibull, it shows graphical-GA mixed Weibull is the best. Finally, the spindle MTBF point estimation and interval estimation are got based on mixed Weibull distribution. The results indicate that graphical-GA are improved effectively and the evaluation of spindle can provide the basis for design and reliability growth.

In this paper, an optimal guidance law for missiles with impact angle and miss distance constraints is proposed to achieve the maximal terminal velocity. The normal acceleration command that includes the time-varying coefficients is introduced to satisfy the desired impact angle as well as zero miss distance according to the geometric relation and relative motion parameters between missile and target. The problem is formulated as an optimal control problem by defining the angle of velocity error and flight-path angle as state variables and maximizing a performance index of the terminal velocity. The analytical form of the proposed guidance law is obtained as the solution of the optimal control problem combining optimal control theory and numerical value computation method. Nonlinear simulations of various situations demonstrate the performance and feasibility of the proposed optimal guidance law.

High bonding strength, low deformation and convenient procedure are all very important aspects in the microfluidic device fabrication process. In this paper, an improved microwave induced bonding technology is proposed to fabricate microfluidic device based on methyl methacrylate (PMMA). This method employs pure ethanol as the bonding assisted solvent. The ethanol not only acts as the microwave absorbing material, but also works as the organic solvent in bath. The presented research work has shown that the bonding process can be completed in less than 45 s. Furthermore, the convenient bonding only applies microwave oven, beakers and binder clips. Then, we discuss effects of microwave power, bonding time on bonding strength and deformation of microstructures on PMMA microfluidic device. Finally, a 4 layers micro-mixer has been fabricated using the proposed bonding technique which includes 15 trapezoid micro-channels, 9 T-type mix units and an X-type mix unit. Experimental results show that the proposed bonding method have some advantages compared with several traditional bonding technologies, such as hot pressing bonding, ultrasonic bonding and solvent assisted bonding methods in respect of bonding strength, deformation and bonding process. The presented work would be helpful for low coat mass production of multilayer polymer microfluidic devices in lab.

In order to evaluate the failure probability of a complicated structure, the structural responses usually need to be estimated by some numerical analysis methods such as finite element method (FEM). The response surface method (RSM) can be used to reduce the computational effort required for reliability analysis when the performance functions are implicit. However, the conventional RSM is time-consuming or cumbersome if the number of random variables is large. This paper proposes a Legendre orthogonal neural network (LONN)-based RSM to estimate the structural reliability. In this method, the relationship between the random variables and structural responses is established by a LONN model. Then the LONN model is connected to a reliability analysis method, i.e. first-order reliability methods (FORM) to calculate the failure probability of the structure. Numerical examples show that the proposed approach is applicable to structural reliability analysis, as well as the structure with implicit performance functions.

The capacity is impacted badly by pedestrians’ violation behavior at signal intersections. In order to quantify the impact, the time-headway and the vehicular speed from start-up to reach the stable saturation flow with and without pedestrian traffic are used as the direct measurements. Using the statistical analysis, the time-headway of saturation flow is mainly affected by the position of pedestrians and the degree of pedestrians’ influence is classified into four levels. Then the speed-time profile for the vehicular acceleration at each level is fitted by Curve Fitting Software. Based on the effect to the time-headway and acceleration time, the model of capacity influenced by pedestrians is established and the influence is quantified, which enriches the fundamental theory of traffic engineering. The result shows that the vehicular capacity can be decreased by 14% at the worst case (level I ). The conclusions obtained in this paper are valuable for better management of the signal intersection.

Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) is a critical part of the smart grid, and ZigBee is playing an increasingly important role in AMI. The cyber security is the prerequisite to ensure the reliable operation of AMI. To guarantee the ZigBee communication security in AMI, a key management scheme based on the elliptic curve cryptosystem (ECC) is proposed. According to the ways of information transformation in AMI, the scheme is categorized as unicast communication key management process and multicast communication key management process. And in the scheme, the selection of elliptic curve, the calculation of ZigBee node's ECC public key and private key, the establishment and distribution of the link key in unicast communication, and the establishment and distribution of the network key in multicast communication are elaborated. The analysis results show that the proposed key management scheme is secure, and consumes less memory and energy, thus, can meet the demands of communication security of AMI.

To investigate the spray characteristics of a new?type air?assist nozzle, three-dimensional laser phase Dopper analyzer (PDA) was used to measure the spray parameters. The external flow fields of the nozzle were simulated by means of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The distributions of the diameter and the axial velocity for the droplets were analyzed respectively. The results indicate that, the mean diameter of the droplets fluctuates along the center axis. The distance between the measurement point and the nozzle increases, the axial velocity of the droplets decreases. The further the measurement point from the center axis is, the smaller the axial velocity of the droplets is. With the increase of the nozzle pressure drop, the axial velocity of the droplets improves while the mean diameter of the droplets is reduced, and the distribution uniformity of the droplets is better for the diameter. The simulation result agrees well with the experimental data. The average deviation ranges from 3.9% to 7.7%.

Traditional approaches to digital forensics reconstruct events within digital systems that often are not built for the creation of evidence; however, there is an emerging discipline of forensic readiness that examines what it takes to build systems and devices that produce digital data records for which admissibility is a requirement. This paper reviews the motivation behind research in this area,a generic technical solution that uses hardware-based security to bind digital records to a particular state of a device and proposed applications of this solution in concrete, practical scenarios. Research history in this area, the notion of secure digital evidence and a technical solution are discussed. A solution to creating hardware-based security in devices producing digital evidence was proposed in 2012. Additionally, this paper revises the proposal and discusses three distinct scenarios where forensic readiness of devices and secure digital evidence are relevant. It shows, how the different requirements of the three scenarios can be realized using a hardware-based solution. The scenarios are:lawful interception of voice communication, automotive black box, precise farming. These three scenarios come from very distinctive application domains. Nevertheless, they share a common set of security requirements for processes to be documented and data records to be stored.
