Improved slot array performance (lower side lobe levels, a better input match) calls for elimination of approximations in earlier design procedures. One important change is to include internal higher order mode coupling. That has been done and is found to cause a simple but significant modification in existing design formulas.

Higher order diffractions from a circular disk 圆盘上的高阶衍射

The backscattering from a circular disk is analyzed using the geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD). First-, second-, and third-order diffractions are included in the hard polarization analysis, while first-, second-, and second-order slope diffractions are included for soft polarization. Improvements in the prediction of the monostatic radar cross section (RCS) over previous works are noted. For hard polarization, an excellent agreement is exhibited between experimental and theoretical results, while a very good agreement is noted for soft polarization. To further improve the soft polarization results for wide angles, a model for the creeping wave or circulating current on the edge of the disk is obtained and used to find an additional component of the backscattered field. The addition of this component significantly improves the results for wide angles, leading to excellent agreement for soft polarization also. An axial-caustic correction method using equivalent currents is also included in the analysis.

This paper investigates the validity of applying PO to 6nd the currents induced on a nsistive strip by an incident plane wavc Prim in~e~tigations did not coneider PO aa a viable method. %or and Liepa obtained the currents induced in resistive strip by &ng the method of momenta (MOM)[l]. More recently, Ray and Mittra used the spectral iterakive technique to 6nd the -nrS in such ntrips[2]. In these two studies the atrip either had a uniform or a tapered resistivity. In thio study currents on strips having vations reSisrMtim were computed ming MOM and PO expresaom. The results indicate that PO provides simple, =curate upressiono for the current when the resistiviw on the strip haa a smooth taper with large valuea of reeistance at the edges.

integrations generally cannot be performed in closed form, and numerical integrations may be necessary. The analysis becomes nuch more difficult to formulate for general objects. The formulation for finding the double reflected field begins by first determining the physical optics current on the first surface due to the incident tangential magnetic field. The vector potential due to this current can be used to find the fields induced in all space.
