Based on human capital theory, this study aims to explain start-up resources formation and business model innovation. The study examined the effect of entrepreneur's human capital (including managerial skills and entrepreneurial skills) on business model innovation via access to start-up resources as a mediator. The Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was conducted with the size sample of 220 founders/ co-founders of start-up firms in Vietnam. The research results supported the positive links from managerial skills and entrepreneurial skills to business model innovation through the mediating mechanism of access to start-up resources. The study explored the meditation role of access to start-up resources between entrepreneur's human capital and business model innovation. In addition, the results provide practical value to entrepreneurs in improving managerial skills and entrepreneurial skills in order to facilitate the access to outside support resources and promote business model innovation. Finally, the study suggests some managerial implications for entrepreneurs, research limitations and further research directions.

This paper focused on Skills and Competences for utilization of Web Storage Technology (WST) Platform for academic activities by Faculty Members in Faculty of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Two objectives were identified for this paper, they are; to find out the WST Platform skills and competences possessed by the Faculty Members; and to identify the challenges encountered by Faculty Members in the utilization of WST Platforms for academic activities in Faculty of Education, A.B.U., Zaria. Quantitative research methodology and cross-sectional survey research design were adopted. This study comprised of 175 Faculty Members in the Faculty of Education, A. B.U., Zaria. It excluded the staff on sabbatical, secondment and on study leave. Total population sampling technique was adopted. Self-developed questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. Descriptive statistics (frequency distribution, percentage, mean and standard deviation) was used to analyze the data collected from the respondents. The study discovered that, basic knowledge of computer skills was the most common WST Platform skills and competences possessed by the Faculty Members. The most common challenge encountered by the Faculty Members in utilizing the WST Platforms for their academic activities was poor Internet connection. The researchers recommended that: the WST Platform service providers should put more efforts in providing training of different forms of WST Platform skills and competences. The management of A.B.U., Zaria, should also add more effort in providing strong network bandwidth for Faculty Members’ convenient utilization.

Basic objective of this study was to assess the degree to which the high rise buildings situated in Lahore are in compliance with the fire safety standards and SOPs regarding evacuation plans. Quantitative approach was adopted to meet the objective of the study. Ten high rise buildings situated in Lahore city were taken as sample. The buildings were selected on the basis of their size, height, and area. The selected buildings included new and old buildings, commercial and residential buildings so that the variations regarding fire safety standards could be measured. A comprehensive survey questionnaire was developed. Results of the study show that besides various critical incidents, no proper measures are taken on scientific grounds to ensure prevention or at least taking rapid response to minimize losses. There exist no fire safety risk assessments, zero ongoing monitoring, no ongoing fire safety training or awareness program, inadequate or dysfunctional fire extinguishing instruments, no building fire safety control, no automatic fire detection and alarm system, no ongoing fire evacuation drills, and the access of fire brigade to the fire sight is inadequate. Recommendations of the study may prove highly productive in constructing safe buildings from safety point of view.

The availability and access to rural information systems and services in rural communities in Nigeria and elsewhere have been recognized as an essential public service utility that can rapidly cause unprecedented development of rural communities. This paper attempts to chronicle the state and condition of rural information systems and services provided in rural Nigeria and their connections to community development. The essence of the paper is to provoke discussion on the relevance of rural information services and to offer direction on the essentials of strengthening and enhancing information systems and services in rural communities. It was argued that library and information professionals especially librarians should assume new roles and strategies to strengthen and enhance rural information systems and services through a pragmatic approach. A pragmatic approach will allow every major key player to compliment ideas with actions. The need for government and other major players accept their responsibilities and also appreciate the invaluable place of building well-informed rural communities as a panacea to developmental challenges confronting Nigeria as a nation is advocated.

The study investigated stock evaluation of resources in academic libraries. The population consisted of all librarians in three universities in Nigeria, University of Port Harcourt, University of Ibadan, and University of Benin. Using convenient sampling method all 69 respondents were chosen as sample. The instrument for data collection was self-designed. Data were analyzed using the mean score, independent t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings show that library resources are adequate and currency. The resources are useful, relevant, and have a wide scope of coverage but lack in-depth coverage. Improper funding, facilities, and inadequate requisite skills are among the challenges facing stock evaluation. The study suggested means to ameliorating the identified challenges and amongst all recommended that efforts should be made by the Nigerian university libraries to put in place adequate facilities, funding, and equipment to facilitate stock evaluation

Supplier selection problem is one of the essential business activities related to sustainable development. This research conducted in a plastic manufacturing company that uses recycled Polypropylene (PP) type of plastic raw materials to reduce production costs and maintain the sustainability of the environment. The company faced some problems in supplier selection, which must be performed considering several criteria such as price, delivery, capability, and flexibility. In this paper, a decision-making process is proposed to solve the sustainable supplier selection in a multi-item and multi-supplier environment. This research proposes a model that combines the Best Worst Method (BWM), Technique For Reference Orders By Similarity To Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), and Multi-Objective Linear Programming (MOLP) to solve problems in sustainable supplier selection and order allocation. The results of this research can help managers to select suppliers and determine the optimal order allocation.

This paper addresses the effect of deterioration and partial substitution on optimal inventory decisions for an inventory model of two substitutable items, where one item is composed with two complementary components. In practical, substitution frequently occurs in situation of stock-out. Here, the level of inventory depletes due to combined effect of deterioration and demand, and in situation of stock-out, the unmet demand of one item is partially substituted by another item. The demand and deterioration are taken to be deterministic and constant. In the proposed model, we formulate the problem in two possible cases: partial substitution and no substitution. Further, pseudo-convexity for total cost functions is derived to ensure unique optimal solution and the solution procedure is outlined to find optimum value of order quantities such that the total cost is minimized. Numerical example and sensitivity analysis are provided to demonstrate the effect of different input parameters on optimal solution.

This paper considers the online retailer's omni-channel retail operations under reference point effects in which consumers can cancel their orders before payment and return the products after payment if the products doesn't meet their expectation. The online retailer's optimal pricing and inventory decisions are derived under the omni-channel strategy by maximizing the total expected utility. The analysis reveals a threshold strategy on the retailer's optimal pricing and inventory decisions and the optimal total expected utility while considering the impact of reference point effects. Moreover, with the increase of the retailer's loss aversion or the optimism level, the order quantity and overall expected utility decrease, while the optimal price presents a threshold type. Finally, the comparison of the utility performance between with and without reference point effects is presented.

The purpose of this study is to examine and explain the effect of leverage on the value of real estate companies listed on the Stock Exchange in Indonesia, with investment and dividend as mediators. The population in this study is all real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The total population was as many as 44 companies. The analytical method used is Generalized Structural Component Analysis (GSCA). The results of this study indicate that high dividend payments will cause decrease in value of company. Intense competition in real estate sector, companies to survive in industry must have product innovations. Consequence of dividend payments is that companies will use high amounts of leverage. Empirically, previous research examining the interaction between leverage, investment, dividends, and company value has produced inconsistencies in research results (gaps). This research focuses on the real estate industry in Indonesia.
