This study aimed to investigate the acute effects of aerobic-exercise (AE) on neurophysiological-functions and neuropsychological-functions in sleep-disturbed collegiates. 32 eligible students were included in study. They completed 30 minutes of single bout of moderate AE (at 60–70% of maximal heart rate reserve). Pre and post training measures were tested for both, neurophysiological-functions by recording eventrelated- potential-P300 [P300-amplitude and P300-latency], and for neuropsychological-functions by administering neuropsychological-test-battery [Attention, Working-memory, Sensorimotor-speed and Executive-function (EF)]. In experimental group, statistically significant improvements were observed when analyzed for all 3 (group-by-time interaction, main-time, and main-group) effects in neurophysiological-functions. However, results were not significant for all neuropsychological-functions measures except for EF. Correlation-analysis demonstrated no association between neurophysiologicalfunctions and neuropsychological-functions except for post-intervention (p300-latency and attention). It is therefore can be concluded that acute bout of AE may be a promising approach to improve cognitivefunctions in sleep-disturbed collegiates, however long-lasting effects are still unclear.
本研究旨在探讨有氧运动对睡眠障碍大学生神经生理功能和神经心理功能的急性影响。32名符合条件的学生被纳入研究。他们完成了30分钟的单次中度AE(最大心率储备的60-70%)。

Over the past few years, the importance of applied neuroscience to organizational and professional contexts has grown. The term "neuromanagement" is used in literature to describe this research area. To enhance and/or modify the attitudes and motivations of the diverse professionals working within organizations, neuromanagement took, during the years, the form of a discipline aimed at understanding all those cognitive processes. To distinguish and compare the various neuropsychological peculiarities and identify the individual-specific factors determining the optimization of performance, this paper initially aims to highlight the significance of implementing multi-factorial evaluation procedures. Furthermore, evaluate the contribution of mindfulness-based neurofeedback protocols, considering recent neuroscientific research, and emphasize their use in highlevel professional contexts.

In this study, we tested the main prediction derived from the “A Theory Of Magnitude” or ATOM, according to which discrete (e.g., numbers) and continuous (e.g., space, material) magnitudes are processed within the right hemisphere. To do so, we examined 11 right brain-damaged patients, 19 left brain-damaged patients, and 30 healthy subjects on different tasks assessing magnitude estimation: symbolic and non-symbolic numerical magnitude as well as spatial (i.e., length) and material (i.e., weight) magnitude. Contrary to the ATOM’s predictions, we did not find significant correlations between all the magnitude estimation tasks in right brain-damaged patients. Correlations between numerical and length magnitudes were found in left brain-damaged patients and healthy subjects. Our results support the existence of a partial independence between the different forms of magnitude estimation processing.

Light can precipitate migraine attacks, suggesting the visual system’s role in migraine pathophysiology. The present study hypothesized the positive effects of Rajyoga meditation on visual evoked potentials (VEPs) in migraineurs. This repeated-measures study included 185 migraine patients (Group A) and 51 age-matched controls (Group B). Initially, the VEPs of both groups were recorded and compared using the Mann- Whitney U test. Subsequently, group A patients followed weekly sessions of Rajyoga meditation for three months. Then, VEPs were re-recorded and compared with preintervention measurements using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test at a 5% significance level. Before the intervention, P100 latency was significantly delayed, and the P100 amplitude was significantly lower in migraine patients compared to the control group. After performing Rajyoga meditation, migraineurs showed a significant decrease in P100 latency and an increase in P100 amplitude. The present study showed favorable effects of Rajyoga meditation in migraine patients.

The need to use different and heterogeneous approaches and methodologies to investigate the phenomenon of pathological Gambling Disorder (GD) arises from a substantial difference in the literature results emerging in this area. Furthermore, investigating the executive functioning (EFs) of subjects with GD provides important information that can influence the treatment setting of these populations. In the present paper the involvement of EFs in the present disorder was investigated. The cognitive functioning of subjects with GD was deepened, both through the study of the cerebral correlates of executive functioning in GD and through empirical studies that investigate the behavioural deficits of GD. Furthermore, we considered the role of some specific behavioral tasks (such as the Iowa Gambling Task, IGT) for the assessment of EFs. Finally, the relationship between EFs and some other crucial factors, such as reward sensitivity, were focused. Indeed, the behavioural aspects of GD are multiple, and they include not only traditional functions such as inhibitory control and reduced levels of self-control, but also high sensitivity to reward.

Influences of excessive smartphone use on subjective symptoms, anxiety, mood, autonomic nervous reactivity and salivary cortisol was assessed, by examining differences in these parameters including autonomic and endocrine system responses to a psychological stressor (Mental arithmetic), between excessive and non-excessive smartphone users, and between long time use period and short time use period in each user group, in 28 female college students (18 to 23 years old). Subjective symptoms assessed by Cornell medical index (CMI), and anxiety assessed by state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI), were significantly higher in excessive users, and physical symptoms in CMI and trait anxiety in STAI reduced significantly after 2 weeks of short time use period in excessive users. Repeated measures ANOVA revealed decreased autonomic nervous reactivity to mental arithmetic assessed by heart rate variability in excessive users, but not in non-excessive users, and improved reactivity after 2 weeks of short time use period in excessive users.

Notwithstanding the implementation of strategic responses to recover habitual levels of performance and productivity, global data points out that the outbreak and diffusion of COVID-19 have imposed a high cost on research activities. Starting from a national survey investigating the impact of pandemics on Italian research in neuroscience, we here specifically aims at exploring its effects on scientific productivity across junior-to-senior professionals. Data highlighted that, given a generalized decrease of objective markers of scientific productivity (i.e. submitted projects or papers), the extent of such decrease was most notable in junior, mid-level and early senior researchers. Also, subjective measures of impact of the pandemics on professional life and work efficiency revealed a coherent profile, with junior and mid-level research professionals referring the highest perceived impact, while the impact of pandemics at psychological and socio-relational levels was rated almost similarly by researchers with different levels of seniority.

The digitalization of learning in the organization represents both a necessity and an opportunity. Little to no research explored how distance training affects cognitive and affective processes in individuals and workgroups. For this reason, in this work, we propose an hyperscanning research design where conversational analysis is used to compare neurophysiological measures (frequency band analysis: delta, theta, alpha, and beta) between an equivalent training session carried out in two conditions (face-to-face and remote), by collecting electroencephalographic data (EEG) on a trainer and three groups of trainees. We theoretically describe the protocol, and we further report initial explorative results. Data showed a significant effect of the condition on both theta and beta waves, with higher synchronization for the face-to-face setting. Also, trainees seem more impacted by the delivery modality compared to the trainer. This work highlights the relevance of neurophysiological measures to test e-learning efficacy.

Notwithstanding breakthroughs in our knowledge of interoception’s various dimensions and implications, along with research demonstrating interoceptive impairments in clinical groups, there is limited data on the successful ways for enhancing this capacity. Here special attention will be given to the interventions that commonly directs attention to the body and to the respiratory rhythms, such as slow breathing technique and MBIs, and how these interventions can promote interoception modulation. Without claiming to be exhaustive and with the intention of soliciting research in this field, in this contribution some potentially interesting and relatively novel applications of the manipulation of interoception will be described, focusing in particular on the clinical, social and sports field.

One of the function of psychometrics is to assess hidden properties in persons as trasmitters of meanings to predict their behaviour under certain specific situational conditions with reference to the measured parameters. When the survey participants recourse to deliberate distortion of their answers in order to increase social acceptability thereof, then there is a great probability that the evaluation and predictions of their behavior will not be relevant. the answer-response processing algorithms envisioned in standardized tests are often ineffective when it comes to detection of intentional distortion; and this in fact is the problem that requires resolution. An approach to solve this problem is proposed. A tool suitable for implementation of the proposed approach is described. the results obtained by means of using the toolkit Video Tsvetomer are illustrated.
